Hey Charles,
You should know more so than me that old saying, "Why let truth get in the way of a good story". At least I may put it all out and take brickbats along with any kudo's.
Why do you not do the same?

Hope that helps....but it doesn't sound like he knew what he was saying either.

You should try and get your friend to complete the sentence so we can decifer it a bit better.
As far as Chuck dissertion above, "...it's not a word in Tok Pisin", Melanesian Pidgin does list the pidgin word 'no'
No ken smok - No.
I no gat man - Nobody
No gat - No.
Quite often 'no gat' is run together as one word nogat, or noken.
Not being terribly fluent in the vernacular, I had to resort to again reading Father Mihalic-SVD, book on the subject.
I hope it helps a wee bit.
Grandpa Aerotart
That's right Pete...after all those years in PNG I never heard them say no ...I heard nogat, noken and minosavi plenty...but you keep picking away at the minutae
Grandpa Aerotart
Refer to my previous post dripping with sarcasm.
Perhaps I should have said, in the first 'no' post, that I had never heard of no being used in that way...and I certainly wasn't thinking about 'no' being used as it is used in English because you virtually never hear them say just no without it being attached to something else....as essentially part of word....nogat etc.
But that is fine...Sharpie can use it to make himself look a little clever at my expense...at least I could make myself understood most anywhere in PNG even now, let alone when I was fluent in Tok Pisin years ago....as opposed to the Tok Masta that Sharpie passes off as a language.
Remember Pete....LOTS of people with long memories...we didn't vote, almost unanimously, your life membership in PNGALPA away for grins.

Taildragger,
The hairyassed T/O may haver been too lazy, I do not know, but the skipper who signs the loadsheet is the one who will end up in court if the proverbial hits the fan. Not the hato.
I suppose we could say that the BKK overrun was caused by manufacturers of brakes or reversers, or if you ran out of fuel, we should blame the refueler for not adding a bit extra for mum and the kids, or we blame the Titanic helmsman. I am afraid that usually the guy in charge with four gold bars has the responsibility, renumeration to ensure that the job gets done.

Sharpie....
So who was it that they blamed for the Paris DC10 accident.?? The Skipper.?? No..it was an illiterate Algerian Cargo handler who forcibly shut the door to the Stbd Rear locker. If we take your premise to its logical conclusion, what is the point of having the said Hairy wossnamed T/O on board.....don't answer that.!
Chuck... Are you sure you never heard No.? Word has it that there are a few Meris out there that found even your charms not to their liking.

Gidday guys. Hopefully this question should be a little easier to answer than my last.....
Waz wondering if there's anyone out there who's familiar with / has recently sat the PNG air law exam? Expect i'll be in POM and sitting in the next month or so - employer seems pretty relaxed about things and said not to worry about study / preparation. Anyone able to confirm?

PS: CPL, not ATPL (if there's any difference)
PPS: To clarify slightly, will have 2 - 3 day layover in POM in order to get familiar with Regs before sitting test. So some time has been set aside for prep work, just not as much as I would have thought you'd need to get up to speed for said exam.

[QUOTE]'Nu you ting tas ol mi man bilong no'
Was just reading this the other day guys and thought that since the first word in the sentence is wrong and should be 'Na' maybe the last word in the sentence should be 'ol' good chance sexual chocolate could have heard it wrong.
translation: 'And you think i am just one of them'
seems to make more sense written that way, just throwing in my toeas worth.
great thread by the way good to see so many ex/current png pilots out there

Ya Oz....you are right...don't even have to speak. A small "Pssst" should see it OK. Nobody seems to have spotted my deliberate mistake re the DC10 rear locker. It was the Port one not the Stbd one.

Sexual Chocolate
Not sure about CPL, ATPL airlaw is 40 questions closed book. Questions taken from the ACT, CAR's (Similar to US FAR) some parts of old AIP and the AGA section of AIP(CAO no longer exists).
Hope this helps, could find out about CPL next week for you.

S. Choccy,
www.casr.gov.pg has everything you need to prepare for the exam. Exam guides, sample questions and of course, the actual rules that you will be examined on.
Download everything, it's all pdf, can do word searches on it. Great way to find stuff in the rules.
Concentrate on pedantic stuff like "How long can you go for without filling in your log book?"

Yeah taily, I hear ya. I'm sure that everyone in this particularly august (or september?) group would've spotted the difference between the port and starboard rear locker on that DC10!
And, yep, the only way a bloke ain't gunna get laid around here is if he's gay... or already dead and buried!

Since when has Gay been a limiting factor in PNG? There must be some reason why so many expat pedophiles are attracted to the place....given the stastistics starting to emerg on AIDS in PNG that may well be a self correcting phenomenon though.
As for the local lasses....well gentlemen don't tell
