As far as Chuck dissertion above, "...it's not a word in Tok Pisin", Melanesian Pidgin does list the pidgin word 'no'
No ken smok - No.
I no gat man - Nobody
No gat - No.
Quite often 'no gat' is run together as one word nogat, or noken.
Not being terribly fluent in the vernacular, I had to resort to again reading Father Mihalic-SVD, book on the subject.
