Like stated above you can't just pay for TR+LT. They'll let you do the TR and then the instructors evaluate you during the training. If you meet their standards you get recommended for LT. On top of that you need to pass the different psychological assessments and be recommended by the psychologist.
So it's like a very long and expensive interview process and I think a lot of people are gonna be disappointed. Air Baltic will probably make and save some money but it will produce a lot of B737 rated guys with no hours on type. Good for them, bad for us

Men vafan.
What 300 euro/month?
That must just be a big joke. I make twice that money as an FO for Ryanair in just ONE day sometimes.
Seriously just wait and you will land a job on a turboprop. I see new people working for regional airlines all the time without any advertising for pilots from the companies.

Without wishing to either build up false hopes, nor push people towards a P2F/low pay position. . . . a colleague just completing his 2nd Summer contract there has (with a couple of others) just been given a full-time contract, and most other guys (inc this years line-tng guys) have been extended to a date varying between Dec & Apr. For sure most of this is due to the fact that last years guys were so p1ssed off to be (yet again ! ) laid off over Winter that most of them said "shove it" when offered the chance to come back (rather than a sudden ability to organise/plan the future in airB
) but. . .nonetheless it is a little ray of hope for those contemplating the programme.
In case you hadn't noticed RIX had their first snow today (26th Oct) but don't let that put you off, plenty of warm pubs ( & warm/ cute fellow customers) to offset that

hey guys.
Im currently unemployed with all my ratings done looking to start at air baltic for the type rating and line training.
The lady i spoke today sounded very positive about being employed by air baltic for the line training and that is how i want to see things, because this investment is something big. it isnt just another MEP renewal...
anyone knows if this is true? that they are putting people for line training?
also, anyone knows anything about Alpha Aviation Group? apparently they also deliver type ratings but im not sure how it is looking regarding to the line training...
thanks in advance

Well I have decided to not go for aB after all. This is primarily due to the fact that I would be around 500h short of 1500h after the Line training.
I figure It's a safer bet to instruct for another year then do the TR+LT which will put me at close to 1600h total Time.

Of course they sound optimistic about employment. They want to SELL TR and LT on the hopes of getting a job.
Never believe a word a sales person tells you.

By my opinion..the fact that you will be "tested" on a performance basis prior to be offered a LT is not a negative thing. (if you aim to stay in Air Baltic).
It means that if you'll be called for LT you have a slight chanche to be offered a contract in future (even if seasonal)..because you already fits the company requirement.
I don't think you have to pay TR and LT in advance so..if all goes bad you can always pay another organizations if you want to add that famous 500 hrs to your log.
Good luck everybody

Problem is, what if they have enough people already? You do your TR, pay lot of money for it. But they say "you didnt meet the standard", even those you did more then good enough.
It is sad how desperat people are to get a job in aviation. We cant blame no one but our self for where this industry is heading!

What are people going to do with just the TR and no time on type?

See if it can get you laid at your local flying club
can't think of many other possibilities..
Edited to say, this is in answer to the Q on the previous post/previous page. . . rather than a general life statement vis a vis aviation. . . . . although it could be equally applied there too I guess.

Sad but true.
Anyway..back focusing on Air Baltic..if you do your type with them with the intention to do the LT as well...no matter if them leave you at home without LT. You can always do it with another organization. Your wallet don't cares whether you're paying air baltic or others..
At the moment I really don't know if their "prices" for the type are convenient...but at the moment seems to be one of the few possibility to make the "pilot wheel of fortune" spin for who has just got his CPL. (talking about remaining in EU)

I was "only" a contract Capt there, but I seem to remember TR was quite cheap, but salary during LT phase was fairly cr@p ( & "enjoying" life in RIX is not SO cheap ) so you had to budget a "survival fund" to cover your "Summer in Paradise"
Oh Yes .
Good experience, fantastic route variety , endless CRM-education opportunities for FO's, practice most Boeing non-normals for your next PC
well, these are "ageing Classics",
I am half joking, but with decent terms & some long-term commitment on their part I would give up my EFB & go back in a heartbeat

There is a reason why AB are now desperate to sell their TR programs, from people in the know, it is very uncertain how long Air Baltic might survive!
Just a quick look at their mixed fleet, it does not take a genius to figure out that probably are not operating in the most economical way, and from people in the know, they could go under before you even get time to complete your TR, never mind any line training!
I would be very careful before I parted with any money to Air Baltic, at least DO NOT PART WITH MONEY IN ADVANCE!
