Russian artilleryman not impressed with North Korean shells.

The language is, let us say, slightly risqué….

The Netherlands has never ruled out that Ukraine will have to strike inside Russian Federation - Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren

"It is quite clear that they [the Ukrainians] have to strike inside Russia as well, so from my point of view this should not be a matter of discussion, and I hope that other countries that have a different position will change it."

The Netherlands, with the assistance of other Patriot-owning countries, wants to assemble and transfer a Patriot system to Ukraine in the near future - Defense Ministry

For this purpose, the Netherlands will provide the main components from its own stocks and will ask European countries to add components.

Belgium will deliver 30 of its F-16 fighters to Ukraine by 2028, Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib announced.

The first planes should already be delivered by the end of the year, she said.

New York Post Editorial yesterday…

https://nypost.com/2024/05/27/opinio...wn-in-ukraine/

Now is the time for Biden to get Russia to stand down in Ukraine

The time has come to push Moscow to end its war on Ukraine — by supplying Kyiv with the right weapons fast, removing boneheaded restrictions on their use and making clear that Russia simply can’t win.

The alternative: Watch Vladimir Putin and his forces gobble up our ally bit by bit — and then prepare for a far broader Russian-triggered conflict sure to involve NATO and US troops.

Over the past weeks, Russia chalked up some of the largest territorial gains since its invasion of Ukraine, including advances in the country’s northeast and Donbas region. Washington can help reverse those gains if it chooses. And now’s the time to do so.

Last week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky lamented the costly delays in US military aid, noting that everyone eventually comes to the right decision but about a year late. It’s “one big step forward,” he said, but “two steps back. So we need to change the paradigm.”

Absolutely right: President Biden’s approach to getting weapons and ammunition to Ukraine has been tragically anemic. Ukraine also needs US weapons that can make a difference and permission to use them to their full capacity.

Consider: As Russian forces amassed on Ukraine’s border in preparation for its recent offensive, Ukrainian soldiers were prevented from attacking them with US weapons, thanks to restrictions from Team Biden, which fears provoking Putin and escalating the fighting.

It’s beyond insane: Had Ukraine been able to degrade Russian troops before they advanced — using, say, US rocket launchers and long-range missiles — it’s unlikely it would have lost as much ground and as many troops as it did.

Iran and China supply Moscow with military equipment, with no restrictions. Why can’t Biden & Co. do likewise with Ukraine? Heck, Russia has no qualms even about violating third-country airspace, as it’s done in Poland.

Biden’s fear of escalation and half-hearted backing of Ukraine — National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan admitted the recent aid package was meant merely to let Ukraine “hold the line” — can only prolong the war. And risk Ukraine’s eventual defeat.

With American weaponry, Ukraine can accomplish far more. And it has a golden opportunity now:

Reports suggest Putin is ready for a cease-fire along current battlefield lines, meaning he’s increasingly reluctant to pay the price, particularly in Russian lives, of continuing. Some doubt that, yet extending the fight would require another deeply unpopular mobilization in Russia.

Were Ukraine allowed to fight with an adequate supply of weapons — and no hands tied — it could not only reverse Russian gains, but force a new call-up that enrages the Russian public, pressuring Putin, perhaps, to stand down.

Biden’s limited-aid-with-strings not only misses this critical opportunity; it needlessly costs Ukrainian lives.

If Biden truly wants Ukraine to survive — for its sake, as well as the world’s — he needs to shed his escalation fears and ramp up unrestricted US aid deliveries now.

Sweden is being asked to postpone its plans to send the Jas Gripen fighter aircraft to Ukraine by other countries in the air defense coalition.

This decision is to prioritize and focus on the introduction of the American F-16 fighter jet in Ukraine. The F-16 is already pledged by Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Norway, with the first deliveries expected this year.

Sweden's Defense Minister Pål Jonson states that while the Gripen may become relevant in the future, the current focus is on implementing the F-16 program.

Factory markings indicate that Russia has averaged production of at least 12 UMPB glide bombs per day over the past two months.

This gives an annualized production volume of at least ~4,400 rounds, which is likely to rise as Russia continues to scale capacity.

Estonia’s president, Alar Karis, has made a strong statement about the West’s mission to curb putin’s revisionist ambitions.

“Estonia will do everything possible to bring Russia to its knees,” he said.

“After this, it will be possible to begin negotiations on ending the war in Ukraine,” he explained.

The amount of copium and propaganda in this russian video is overwhelming.
- they are removing the turrets from MBT's and turning the MBT's into APC's
- they add metal sheets to protect the troops from fragments and claim that the metal sheets make them invisible to drones
- no one tells that a metal sheet a few centimeters thick doesn't protect from grenades, LAW's, RPG's etc

As an Ukrainian soldier said in a famous video: we are lucky they are so stupid.

Ukraine will only be able to use the F-16 fighter jets and other weapons supplied by Belgium on its territory, - said Prime Minister Alexander de Kroo.

He pointed out that such a condition of the country is stipulated in the agreement.

If I have understood these bureaucrat correctly, he says that the one F-16 that Belgium may still give to Ukraine in 2024 will make a significant difference.

Summary:

1 x F-16 this year
29 x F-16s by 2028
But only on the territory of Ukraine

Oh boy.

Update to the below - now being reported they are donating not one, but two, ASC-890s

Further to Beamr’s post #10812 above reference Sweden.

Just announced: Sweden will donate a new military capability to strengthen Ukraine’s air defence. Package 16 will be the largest Swedish military aid package yet at €1,16bln. Sweden will donate Airborne Surveillance and Control aircraft (ASC 890) to Ukraine.

ASC 890 will provide Ukraine with a new capability against both airborne and maritime targets. Ukraine capability to identify targets at long range will be strengthened. They will act as a force multiplier with the introduction of F-16. AMRAAMs will also be donated.

Sweden will also donate its entire stock of armoured tracked personnel carriers (PBV 302) to support the reconstruction of new Ukrainian brigades. Sweden will also donate artillery ammunition and resources for maintenance of previously donated materiel.

Sweden will also deliver surplus tank vehicles from the armed forces, maintenance of previously donated Swedish materiel, financial support to capability coalitions and to funds and temporary initiatives to enable swift and large-scale procurement of materiel to Ukraine.

The Swedish Defence Research Agency will also be tasked with supporting Ukraine in establishing its own defence research institute.

Furthermore, Ukraine’s command and control capability will be strengthened in the package through a donation of terminals with subscriptions for satellite communications.

Imagine all countries were so committed like Sweden. Can't wait to see Gripens over Ukraine, eventually.

Air defense woes. Bad news.

Dream on.
Do you really think that V. Putin will pay any attention to J Biden?
The time has come to push Moscow to end its war on Ukraine — by supplying Kyiv with the right weapons fast, removing boneheaded restrictions on their use and making clear that Russia simply can’t win.
While I personally agree with removing the strings attached to armaments sent to Kiev - the author fails to understand the Russian mind set.
They also seem to have ignored how China keeps feeding material to Russia, and how (among others) German exports to at least one of the Stans seems to have ramped up from 2022 to present and if you look at the parts shipped (there's a graph here somewhere) it's obvious what is being supplied.
(And I've seen multiple articles detailing how various electronic components end up getting to Russia whose origin is US companies).

KIA/WIA

I follow this action via Jake Broe's channel as well as Suchomimus and others. JB's channel always leads with the Kyiv Indepenedent's estimate of Russian KIA/WIA . I have no idea about the accuracy of these statistics nor how they are established .All I can say is t6hat for the past several weeks the numbers have been well above 1 000 whereas previously they had dropped to 600/700. Today I noticed that thet the number was 1 460, the highest numbest I EVER RECALL SEEING . Since these are unverified figures, I can't make any declaration, however if the months of previous Ukrainian figures are accurate, tyhen the Russian lossses are devastatng.

Here none has to add that devastating means devastating for a normal country, but that Russia is complpetely abnormal.

What is noticeable is that the attacks north of Kharkiv seem to mostly be by infantry either on foot or using motorbikes or vehicles such as golf carts. What IFV they have are early models from the 1950s where, reportedly, the armour won't stop 7.62 rounds, let alone ATGW etc.

Literally "meat wave" attacks of conscripts with a reported life expectancy after arrival at the front of less than 6 days.
