Another one bites the dust.

In Luhansk, near his house, an explosive device detonated in the car of the deputy and former “head” of the so-called “people’s militia of the LPR,” Mykhailo Filiponenko. The collaborator died.

Kadyrov said he will fire members of his team whose children do not know the Chechen language.

"It often happens that children of representatives of my team do not know the Chechen language. I will start firing such officials from my team. First of all, children should be taught their native language by their parents. Children are taught Russian in kindergartens and schools, and parents often encourage this. Children even start to think in Russian. A generation that doesn't speak and think in Chechen has no future," said the Chechen leader.

Let me remind you that recently, new units of the "Rosgvardiya" were formed in Chechnya and named after enemies of the Russian Empire.

So, lately:
◾️ Kadyrov spoke out against the Russian language.
◾️ He put his relatives in leadership positions.
◾️ He created new well-armed military units named after enemies of the Russian Empire.
◾️ He bought a batch of expensive foreign SUVs for his officials (in violation of the new law).

By the way, you may recall that there was no active participation of Kadyrov to stop Prigozhin's march. He was biding his time?

A Russian battalion comprised of Ukrainian prisoners of war (POWs) will likely deploy to Ukraine in the near future in an apparent violation of the Geneva Convention on Prisoners of War.

I gather no one has considered what might happen after arming Ukrainian POWs and letting them loose in close proximity to Russian officers...

Maybe i should shut up now.

I suspect Russia will claim this isn't a war, but simply a 'Special Military Operation', so the Geneva Convention doesn't apply.....

It’s not the population, just their new President, Slovakia has given more than most for a country their size and do not deserve negative comments on the people’s determination, as Pali has shown, regardless of the muppet in power, the people are supporting and continue to support Ukraine.

That was the first thought that crossed my mind as I read that.

I seem to recall such arguments being made as far back as the Korean War Police Action, But I think that an update was made to the Conventions (1970's?) which covers that position.
I'd need to check some old notes on that ... but in Vlad's case, I am not sure he cares.

That is an explicit war crime. It is forbidden to impress POWs into service within the other belligerent's army. Putting arms into the hands of guys who want to turn around and waste all the others behind them is pretty clever even for Vlad. Getting the guys to "surrender" to the Ukrainian side would be otherwise called a catch-and-release program. Even with Russias favourite "2nd-Line-courage" battalions sitting behind, the Russians assume that the Ukrainians won't kill Russians at any chance that they get? If there is zero hope of survival, taking as many Russian criminals out seems like a no brainer, but beyond the cognitive skills of Russia's commanders. Best of luck to the Ukrainians that are the subject of yet another atrocity perpetrated by Vlad and the rest of the Russians.

Seems slightly bi-polar for Russia to complain and spit their dummy wanting to run to the UNSC for the foreseeable outcome of their criminal actions, while planning to conduct yet another war crime as noted in RIA Novosti. Needing lithium? Carbamazepine? Diavaproex? Depakine?

For Russia, another warcrime is about as common as any day of the week ending in a Y.

British, Polish firms sign $5 billion deal for Poland’s air defense

LONDON — The U.K. arm of missile-maker MBDA and the Polish defense company PGZ have signed a contract to work on the next phase of Poland’s anti-air missile program, the two countries announced Wednesday.

The deal, worth more than worth more than £4 billion (U.S. $5 billion) will lead to the delivery of 1,000 missiles and more than 100 launchers for Poland’s Narew weapon system. The Polish program is based on MBDA’s extended-range variant of the Common Anti-Air Modular Missile, jointly developed by the U.K. and Italy.

The British Defence Ministry said the contract is the largest commercial agreement ever secured between London and Warsaw. It deal involves a technology transfer program that will eventually see Poland assemble its own Common Anti-Air Modular Missiles, or CAMM.

The two countries are also considering more joint missile development efforts, including a medium-range version of CAMM.

The latest contract is in addition to a £1.9 billion deal signed by the two nations earlier this year that will see the U.K. equip 22 Polish air defense batteries with the standard CAMM weapon and launchers, under a program called PILICA+….

Russia hit a civilian ship registered in Liberia with a missile during an attack on Odesa, one dead and wounded being reported.

In the post by Operational Command “South” on FB: "3 crew members - citizens of the Philippines - are injured, one of them is hospitalized. The pilot died, another port worker was injured."
