Ukraine War Thread Part 2
The cognitive dissonance of the Russkies is truly amazing. Is there any point where reality will sink in? The Russkie TV commentators with their red white and blue flashing lights and their apocalyptic threats of nuclear war are stunning in their deviation from what is actually happening (with government direction of course) never ceases to amaze. How did this country get to this point? Amazing.

Despite Nutties very good efforts at providing information, we still only have various flavours of propaganda available to us to determine the true state of play and going by the visuals is inadequate. Consequently until such time as we have a clearer understanding of the physical events taking place we can only speculate as to the true situation.

Orwellian; normally it is the winner that writes the history, in this case, Russia only gets to right their wrongs in The Hague as Zek-001.

Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant facing ‘catastrophic’ staff shortage amid Russian evacuation
Russia plans to relocate about 2,700 Ukrainian staff from Europe’s largest nuclear plant, Ukraine’s atomic energy company has claimed, warning of a potential “catastrophic lack of qualified personnel” at the Zaporizhzhia facility in Russian-occupied southern Ukraine.
Workers who signed employment contracts with Russia’s nuclear agency Rosatom following Moscow’s capture of the Zaporizhzhia plant early in the war are set to be taken to Russia along with their families, Energoatom said in a Telegram post on Wednesday.
The company did not specify whether the employees would be forcibly moved out of the plant….

Uk 280km provided missiles to Ukraine may be Turkish Khan missiles, as Storm Shadow would take a lot to retrofit to their aircraft, but the Khan will fit the tubes already in use. Scroll down the page for more.

After the police press office #Berlin and journalists had already left, things really got going yesterday in the Soviet War Memorial #Treptow . The day of liberation from fascism was not so "predominantly trouble-free" after all #b0905 Link to the video: https://youtu.be/p5NmadEpZuE

Wow, hold the boat, the UK Has supplied Ukraine with Storm Shadow to only be used in Ukrainian territory, that will be game on for the bridge as part of it is in Ukrainian waters.

The United Kingdom has supplied Ukraine with multiple Storm Shadow cruise missiles, giving Ukrainian forces a new long-range strike capability in advance of a highly anticipated counteroffensive against Russian forces, multiple senior Western officials told CNN.
“The UK has previously said that it will supply Ukraine with long-range weapons, this will now include a number of Storm Shadow missiles. The British Government has been clear that this is only in response to Russia’s deliberate targeting of civilian national infrastructure and is a proportionate response,” a Western official told CNN.

The British Government has been clear that this is only in response to Russia’s deliberate targeting of civilian national infrastructure and is a proportionate response,” a Western official told CNN.
The Storm Shadow is a long-range cruise missile with stealth capabilities, jointly developed by the UK and France, which is typically launched from the air. With a firing range in excess of 250km, or 155 miles, it is just short of the 185-mile range capability of the US-made surface-to-surface Army Tactical Missile Systems, or ATACMS, that Ukraine has long asked for.
Critically, the Storm Shadow has the range to strike deep into Russian-held territory in Eastern Ukraine. A Western official told CNN that the UK has received assurances from the Ukrainian government that these missiles will be used only within Ukrainian sovereign territory and not inside Russia. UK officials have made frequent public statements identifying Crimea as Ukrainian sovereign territory, describing it as “illegally annexed.”
UK Defense Secretary Ben Wallace is expected to announce to the House of Commons that the UK is sending Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine.
The missile is “a real game changer from a range perspective,” a senior US military official told CNN and gives Kyiv a capability it has been requesting since the outset of the war. As CNN has reported, Ukraine’s current maximum range on US-provided weapons is around 49 miles.

The stealthy missile has a range in excess of 150 mi (250 km), is powered by a turbojet at Mach 0.8 and can be carried by the Tornado GR4, Italian Tornado IDS, Eurofighter Typhoon, Dassault Mirage 2000 and Dassault Rafale aircraft. The F-35 Lightning II will also carry the missile once the aircraft enters service. The BROACH warhead features an initial penetrating charge to clear soil or enter a bunker, then a variable delay fuse to control detonation of the main warhead. The missile weighs about 1,300 kg has a maximum body diameter of 1 m and a wingspan of 3 m. Intended targets are command, control and communications; airfield facilities; port facilities; AMS/ammunition storage; ships/submarines in port; and bridges.
I wonder what they're planning to launch them from...

(The bridge is the last segment of the connection and runs between Tuzla island and Crimea, both being Ukrainian).
fdr:
etc. etc. ad nauseam
True, but it's pointless pointing out to criminals that they are breaking laws, the only way of stopping them is by force and punishment.
grimweasel:
Some of us recall even the dilatory UK system carrying out substantial mods to RAF aircraft (e.g. AIM-9L on Vulcans) during the Falklands affair. I'm sure the Ukrainians are equally capable
Hmmm. Naughty Voldemort.

Russian Federation, Regulations on the Application of International Humanitarian Law by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, Moscow, 8 August 2001, § 75.
With regard to internal armed conflict, the Regulations states:
The displacement of the civilian population shall not be ordered for reasons related to the conflict unless the security of the civilians involved or imperative military reasons so demand. Civilians shall not be compelled to leave their own territory for reasons connected with the conflict.

Then, there is all the rest. By definition, Russia is a criminal enterprise, and is conducting genocide by their own laws, and Ukraine has every right to ask for real assistance from every other member of the UN that actually bothers to read the damned charter, and not use it as toilet paper.

One wonders how they will retro-fit these with all the necessary wiring and firing hardware to ageing MIG 29s (if they have any left)? So the only discernible outcome will be NATO Typhoons or German Tornados launching these 'secretly' ??

Ecce Homo! Loquitur...
Having said the UK has already provided Storm Shadow, it really would be impossible to tell if one was launched from a Ukrainian jet near Odesa or was accidentally dropped from a RAF Typhoon on escort duty in the Black Sea.
Hard to tell what they might be carrying with a pre-dawn departure from Akrotiri.
Russia should know all about the accidental release of missiles in the area.....
