There are GCSE courses you can pay for.
I did an English one recently, waiting for the results this month...

Try http://www.ool.co.uk/

There are many others

5 GCSE or equivalent, grade C or above including maths, English language and a physics based science subject are the minimum requirements. If I remember correctly they raised the input standards a few years back from 3 GCSE.
As Mr Point states most guys these days have more than this so I would guess OASC wouldn't even look at less.

No matter whether or not you eventually get into the RAF, having a few more GCSEs at good grades will be helpful in any career you want to follow. Rather than wasting effort trying to get in with less than the minimum requirement, it would be better and simpler to try and get a few more good grades under your belt.

I don't know why you only got a D for Maths (perhaps you missed part of the course due to absence, didn't bother to revise, etc), but required subjects are required because you need a basic level of aptitude in order to be able to do the job. So, if you're rubbish at maths, you might struggle with parts of the job. If it's just a matter of putting the work in to get the grade, why not put the work in and then resit?

...and considering it's WSOp and not WSO you're after, you've got until you're 32 to gain the required qualifications. Nice

WHo knows

What I can say is, if you phone them up to ask, dont give them your name out of politeness. I did that and the response was "well I have your name now so dont try and lie your way in"

What will that get them thinking then. He has something to hide. You will be found out at OASC. They will request your medical documents and it will be there in black and white.

Yoof, don't be so negative, man.
Matt, sorry mate, i must've posted in the wrong "tone", it was never intended to sound negative. (maybe i should've thrown in an extra smilie)

I know what it's like to be "chasing the dream".

Officer Qualifications

Hi there guys and girls.

I got back from my presentation today, and the Sergeant wasen't sure if my BTEC Diploma would class as A level equivilants, which supprised me to say the least. I was told a year ago it would be fine aslong as my grades were good.

It IS an A-level equivilant and I've got 360 UCAS points from it cause I basically worked my off, and I was told last year it was fine.

Does anyone know if its accepted? Its in Construction, includes an AS Maths course and structural mechanics etc. Lets just say its not in ASBO or Baby Management, so I can't believe it woudln't be accepted.

Any ideas?

Cheers QM

My bold and underlined. If your grammar is indicative of your level of education, then I hope your qualification is not considered equivalent to an A Level in a military context.

Sorry to be blunt, but that's the way you have presented yourself. You could of course, always go and take some bona fide A-levels, or alternatively, join without them, and take them in-service.

I do apologise for my language, I went to school under labour, and my two A’s in English doesn’t get you very far these days.

I’m sure when you wanted to write something fast you got it right every time.
Thank you for your lovely post.

From the RAF website, this list gives details of careers that an "NVQ/BTEC or similar qualification" are a suitable eduction standard for. Seems to indicate that there are plenty of officer careers available.

QM - I wish you luck. You will not pass Officer training in any of HMF without the ability to get it right, especially under pressure.

Roadster

Stop being a c*ck and allow someone who has a genuine interest in the Services to ask a question without nibbing the poor guy about something so trivial as his spelling - this isn't a bloody exam!
