Having spent a fantastic day on a Nimrod on an ASuW exercise flying out of Sola in Norway a few years ago, I can only pass on my condolences to family friends and colleagues of those lost in this terrible accident.
I marvelled then at the crews levels of professionalism and their love for the aircraft, and also their keen sense of humour. I am sure the camaraderie I witnessed first hand will help you all come to terms with your loss.

Deepest sympathy to you all,
Kev Ex RN

Dreadful News

I have only just found out about this.

My deepest condolences go out to the families of the crew involved.

As ex Nimrods I know that their colleagues left behind will pull together to help the familes through this as best they can.

A sad sad day.

The Media

I am a civvie (but with many service connections) and follow Pprune avidly. The most recent loss in Afgahnistan has moved me to join and to make a post.

There are many like me who admire you all as one of the last bastions of excellence and dedicated service left in our country.

We know that your sacrifices are made on our behalf and we feel your losses deeply.

Worked with a number of kipper bods during my time at Lossie and elsewhere. Heart goes out to families and friends and all at Kinloss.

Another sad waste.

Another sad day. Heartfelt condolences sent up to the families and friends left behind, from the Wafus at the other end of the country.

Remember the good times chaps.

Just saw the news conference from Kinloss. In spite of the media relentlessy trying to pin some sort of blame on the entire fleet, continually asking questions about serviceability and whether the fleet would be grounded, both the Stn Cdr and OC 120 Sqn staged a dignified, respectful and honest press conference.

Well done, Sirs, and good luck for the days ahead.

Once again, my thoughts and prayers are with my friends and colleagues at Kinloss.

A Sad Time For 120sqn

I heard the news last night and was shocked! I was a pilot on 120SQN 11 years ago to the day and know just how devastating this is for all ...relatives, friends, workmates and everybody involved with the station. In particular my thoughts are with the family left behind. Good luck with the days and months ahead, the wounds will heal eventually and you will be left with memories of good times with good people.

I left the RAF 10 years ago and there is not a week goes by that I dont remember the guys we lost in Toronto, but good memories not sad.

To all at Kinloss I offer my condolancies, and my thoughts are with all you guys and girls in the kipper fleet, unsung heros, doing a difficult job in difficult times.

Deepest sympathy to all involved at ISK. Let us not forget the families of the two other servicemen who were on board working in what was to them an alien environment.

RIP Guys

Deepest sympathies and condolences from an aviation/defence journo, especially to friends at ISK, and to ex-Kipper mates now at Warton and Waddington.

Most of us feel just the same about such tragic losses as most servicemen, and it would be a shame to open divisions where none exist.

Desperately sad news. Thoughts and prayers for all the families involved, and for all at RAF KINLOSS. Respect, pride and gratitude to all our Servicemen and Women on duty around the world and, in particular, in the Middle East.

Ex 201 Sqn mate. I heard about the incident whilst down route last night. I feel sick. This is an awful loss of life for Kinloss to endure.

My deepest thoughts and prayers go out to all the families involved.

Godspeed to my friends, I'm sure you're in a better place now.
