Caption competition
No expense was spared to ensure that Jeremy Clarkson's trip was as impressive as possible.
or:
"So what did you do when your transmitter failed, Bloggsie?"
"Well sir, I squawked 7700 and flew those triangles they show you in the Flight Information Handbook. And sure enough, they sent a shepherd to collect me. It was great".

Only part of the story, BEags:
"the closest chopper pukes would want to get to flying fast jets"
"flying F16s is beneath we chopper pukes.."
etc etc ad nauseam

The USAF "Trap-and-Release" program was unveiled today.
"I know the taxi-ways aren't finished yet. But are you sure this is the most cost-effective way of moving between the runway and the hangars?"
"Are you sure we're supposed to drop this on the levee in New Orleans? Doesn't look like a load of sandbags to me"

"How does it work, Rupert dear?"
"Well, Amanda, the helicopter climbs to 65,000 feet and then releases the F16, which can acquire escape velocity and get into low Earth orbit. Can't tell you why it needs to do that, of course, because it's secret".
"Gosh Rupert, you know absolutely everything".

Chinook Pilot to F16 Pilot "Whatever you do - don't bang out!!!"
"and if we fly fast enough we actually gain lift"
Chinook finally catches up with Puma technology and gains a retractable under-carriage
Things helicopter pilot think as they are approaching a high bridge:
No 261:"Under or over???"

Chinook Pilot, flying past a mast, to crewman on ramp:
"F-16 taking off? ...WHERE'S an F-16?"

The City of Liverpool squadron took their traditions seriously
An illustration of where the term "Chop Shop" came from
Following in the footsteps of the German WWII Mistletoe program, the helicopter flew to the target and dropped the radio controlled, explosive filled aircraft. The results however were not very spectacular.
The grand finale of the helicopter display team was their much talked about inverted pass. Quite a tricky maneuver to manage apparently.

Well chaps a worthy bunch of replies to a photo which at face value has only a few variations in the way of captions.
So you've all done very well and it was close but....
In reverse order....
Third place:
Boogeyboard with:
"USAF went all out to ensure that George Dubbya's first sortie at the controls of the F-16 was a successful one."
Second place:
Sunfish with:
" Cyril, now that we caught one, do you think the boss will let us keep it?"
But in first place, and in true reflection of SH pikeydom with overtones of the classic "seemed like a good idea at the time", it's......
<drum roll>
6Z3
"I don't know where we can dump it, why didn't we just slap a Sqn crest on it like we agreed in the bar."
(I'd love to post the original photo to accompany the winning caption but I STILL get that damn ickle red X thingy)

If you look at the helicopter back to front...it sort of looks like an angry figure off PacMan
Will it make it harder to carry with the elevators in full nose down?
You'd think they'd at least knock the big clod of dirt off the nose of the F16
