Typical glider pilot. First sign of a problem, they just stick it down in the nearest open space...

OK...the beers, sorry - the votes are in, and..

Honourable mentions to:

Nutloose for "While I agree your idea of operating them off an ice runway was a good idea, don't you think we are a bit bloody early?"

and JAVELINBOY for "The barrage was necessary to contain the combined bowel movements of the crew and pilot at launch time."

I had thought of one " See what happens if you let one skipper claim salvage?" (ref:Harrier emergency landing......) but I can't enter, so....

..... the new winner of the Coffman Starter Trophy is:

jim's brother, for "It uses the new Swiss arrestor system: hooks on the tyres and loops on the deck - don't forget, we invented Velcro."

Many thanks, Andy - most unexpected. Comes to mind that I should have patented my arrestor system before posting it here!

I'm out at the moment, spending the product-placement fee, but I'll start a new competition as soon as I'm back at the Mac.

Every Air Jeep supplied to the US Army came complete with a regular jeep ambulance for the crew, and a truck to carry the pieces back to base.

I say Frank, those MP's have been following us for the last 5 miles. Are you sure you weren't speeding?

The vehicle was found to be impracticable because the crew could not consume their baked beans fast enough to keep airborne.

Despite the rear-facing crew seating, the aircraft took off without hitting the ground vehicles.
