unless you are socially retarded.

Damn, there's always something in the way of my progress!! :\

Easy Ryder 15th Jun 2010 17:53

Guys/girls,

there's dozens of pages on this very thread on the interview process. :ugh:

Dont be lazy, if you want the job take the time like myself and many other candidates have and go through them all. The process hasn't changed, the books recommended to get haven't changed.

The answers to every qu you might have is in this very thread, take the time and search it out yourself.

Chigg 15th Jun 2010 19:41

These guys can't be THAT desperate if they have a 30T limitation, which excludes many RJ guys.

DC10 15th Jun 2010 21:15

I'm also interested in the Cholesterol and EK question on the previous page. Mine is about 220, but steady at about 135 with medication. I'm otherwise fit and healthy.

Anybody know if there are cholesterol limits for disqualification?

atpcliff 15th Jun 2010 22:49

Hi!

There is NO PUBLISHED weight limitation. At the LAS job fair, they told me the weight limit was reduced to 10 tonnes, and, subsequently, there was not limit, and there is no limit on the website. They DO have unpublished age limits, so they may have other unpublished limitations.

Hello,

I am thinking of now applying to Emirates but I have a question? How does it work to get into the USA for pilots? I was arrested for under-age drinking there a long time ago and wonder if I would be stopped entering the US as a pilot for Emirates?

Is it just a five year background check that is required or do they do there own research?

Thanks you in advance for you help.

Tapxe.

sheikmyarse 16th Jun 2010 15:38

I'm impressed how many... well not so many at the end but still quite a few are taking the bait...can you read ?
If you have a job and you are not about to jump from bridge.. stay where you are. In few years ( may be months) you will either thank me or just regret you did not listen.

MATMAX 16th Jun 2010 16:22

sheikmyarse is totally right , it is just a kind of gold painted on ... sorry i can not say the word.

Bidalot 16th Jun 2010 16:40

MATMAX 16th Jun 2010 19:53

Royalblue 17th Jun 2010 01:26

I heard some pinacle guys are heading for interview at EK... Can someone confirm that after dropping the mins to 2500 they still call guys with rj time? Thanks a lot

atpcliff 17th Jun 2010 03:27

Hi!

Officially, no problem with RJ time, as you can see at the website. If you read all the threads on EK, however, you will find that in real life the situations are HIGHLY varied, and I don't think anyone can tell you what will happen to your appliction. If you want to be considered, complete it. Once it is done and in the system, it is easy to update it whenever you want.

no way jose

"You really don't need to prepare for this interview.

If you are a competent pilot you will get the job based on the sim assessment........ unless you are socially retarded"

WRONG !
Sorry mate, but you are dead wrong. :=
I've seen many real good guys go over there, pass the sim with flying colours and still no job offer at the end. None of those fellas were socially retarded, very much the opposite.

I think the process after the simulator weeds out good pilots from good pilots who interview well.

CAVnotOK 17th Jun 2010 19:23

Have a chat with some of the guys who work in Recruitment and see what they have to say. I think you will be quite surprised.

Cav.

avrodamo 22nd Jun 2010 16:43

Which pages?

Just on the off chance, before i start sifting through all 110 pages of this thread does anyone know which pages actually contain the information about the Emirates selection?

ennui 22nd Jun 2010 21:08

Amazing. . .

Read this thread 4 years ago when considering EK.

It was already too long then, and such a chore to go through!

+100 pages now. . . . .

Please tell your interviewer that you have read each and every page on this thread when you get to dubai.

You shall surely be a successful candidate.

flyaway777 26th Jun 2010 12:32

I read the max age was about 48-53, depending on your experince level. There is no PUBLISHED age limit.
On the other side of this coin, just wondering if there is a lower age limit? I know it doesn't mention anything about this on their website but in reality would it be an issue?

24 yrs old, meet the min requirements (just about!). Is there a danger of being viewed as perhaps a bit on the young side or would it be a positive?

Instant Hooligan 26th Jun 2010 13:10

We have younger guys through the cadet program flying the line so I doubt 24 would be a problem.

SOPS 26th Jun 2010 14:50

pilot interview

Hi Tak,

I am shortlisted as well, do you have any information about the preparation?
By advance , many thanks
dens:)

Cloud Bunny 4th Jul 2010 09:36

Bit unrelated but can't think of anywhere else to post the question. On the EK Recruitment website those little 2 minute videos that they have on there don't seem to be working at all.
Just wondering if it's a problem with the website or my PC's just crap?!
Anyone with any insight or if suffering the same problem would be good to know.
Cheers.

CAVnotOK 4th Jul 2010 10:26

I think there is a distinct possibility that the guys/girls who appear in the vids may have withdrawn their permission for EK to show them.

Can't blame people for finally coming to their senses!

Question that came up today regarding nationalities at EK

I was asked today if EK hires pilots from Israel or if EK has any Jewish pilots working there?? Strange question I know, but I thought it a good one considering I have never heard Hebrew being announced as a language that is spoken on the EK flights... I have several flights a year as a pax on EK...
Anybody care to clarify? My F/O today was born in Israel but resides as a commuter in the States and wants to go to EK... I honestly couldn't tell him...

Travel cost for the wife

Hello,

If your wife come along with you for the 4 days interview, do you have to book and pay the ticket by yourself or does Ek take care to book the ticket and get u a reduced ticket?

Thank you for the answer

wheel lock 7th Jul 2010 12:15

Wife

You must pay for your wife's ticket, EK will not pay for her nor will they give you a reduced fare ticket.

kennedy 7th Jul 2010 13:00

Just be grateful that EK are desperate, when I came for my interview, they didn't even pay for my ticket, let alone the wife's!

Hi,

Do you know when Emirates will get rid of the 55 tons limitation?
I was told it was still a hard limitation but that they would probably have to soon get rid of it to find enough candidate.

Thanks

cr7driver 9th Jul 2010 16:16

BMI

Does EK still have a below 30 BMI limit? Right now I am at 31.8, which was enough to keep me out of the interview when I was furloughed back in '09.
Thanks in advance.

atpcliff 9th Jul 2010 18:22

Hi!

EK HAD a requirement for some time over 55 tonnes, which was lowered numerous times, and does not now exist on the website.

Another poster reported that the new 2500 hour TT/modern glass jet time requirement is ALSO ONLY for planes over 55 tonnes. By looking at the website, you can not see this requirement, so us "potential EK pilots" don't know if there is any 55 tonne requirement or not. I assume that, if the above is true, if you have 4000 TT, the 55 tonne requirement does not apply.

cliff
LFW
PS-I DO have SOME time over 55 tonnes, and am over 4000TT, about 4000 jet, and was told that I meet the EK min requirements. HOWEVER, the mins seem to change daily, and different people have been told different things, according to a variety of posters.

MosEisley 10th Jul 2010 15:59

cr7,

Yes, they do. It also applies to current EK pilots as well. BMI over 30 and they put you on a three month watch list where they make sure you are trending down and not up. They also order full blood work and a body fat analysis. If your BMI is high but you are obviously in shape and just muscular, they will make exceptions but only after a body fat analysis.

flyingsaucer 10th Jul 2010 16:08

Well I am confused,

I have more than 4000 hours of which 3800 is in a jet below 55 tons.
and was told a week ago that I did not meet the current mins by their HR.

Dont know what to think

EK interview

Hi Dears, I have been called for recruitment procces next month and I would like to know something about interviews, compass tests, sim check,etc..
I would appreciate very much any help.
Thanks.

thatwasclose 16th Jul 2010 05:42

Emirates does have a 55 ton limit. The website does not say it, but I asked recruitment and they confirmed it. It used to be there, got taken away, put back, taken away ever so briefly, and put back again. The reason that they have not posted it is, guess, the want people to apply so that when it gets taken away again they will have enough people. Confusing, ya

Oblaaspop 16th Jul 2010 07:19

Thatwasclose, Thatwaswrong my friend!

There is NO 55t limit for being invited to interview (or being offered a job for that matter).

Maybe peeps are getting confused with the 'Hard Time' (55t) requirement for upgrade??

Obviously preference must be given to pilots who fly EK type/wide body or large Jet twins. It looks like the smallest type we are recruiting from presently is CRJ700 (around 30t), which I'm sure anyone who has been to interview recently can confirm!

Hope this helps

BritishGuy 17th Jul 2010 16:50

With 1200 hours on the EMB-145, 1000 hours on the CRJ-900, about 100 hours on CRJ-700/200 and most currently 200 hours on B-737-400 would I make the cut? That's exactly 2500 Jet. My total time is 3900.
