British Guy,

Why not just apply and find out? Then continually update your stats if you don't get any hits in the near term. Your 737 experience will probably be welcome by EK - but you will likely need more 737 time to stand out if so many RJ pilots are applying. Apply now and roll the dice...

BritishGuy 17th Jul 2010 19:37

Yes Iver, I may do. I have an option right now with Saudi SFS in the Kingdom right now. A bit confused as to if that's what I really want to do. Definitely different type of flying. Just trying to weigh out what will financially be better for me, an EK package or the Saudi SFS one. Either way I won't be 'at home' so all other things being equal 'sold to the highest bidder' unfortunately.

Current 734 gig is alright (for getting some heavier time) but definitely not the kind of gig most people would even entertain. Got to do what you got to do!

dv8 20th Jul 2010 20:41

The FO basic is 24110 AED but what is the new flying pay hourly rate?
Can any one clarify if this is payed only on block hours
Lastly what is the range of night stop payments I understand it varies on location but have no figures to hand
Thanks

wingbar 20th Jul 2010 21:42

Hi guys,

Just a quick question.

Would 2500 TT with 2000 hours of it on an EMB 145/135 be acceptable for a first officer application?

Can any of you present EK pilots help me out on this one?

I hear mixed views on the hours/weights required... etc.
So any help is much appreciated.

Regards

WB

So I went to the Miami info get together. If you fly for some regional that has a mix over/under 30tonnes just say over 30 tonnes and get the interview. Thet dropped the 55 ton requirement just for you guys to apply. Even the hr rep hinted they wouldn't check which one you fly that closely. Now if you've got 10000 hours pic turbojet under 30 tonnes you must be a terrible pilot so you won't get a call for an interview for sure! Funny how corporate and airline guys both don't think they can do each other's jobs. What a bunch of BS. Variety is the spice of life and makes for the best pilots. I want to fly into 4000' private airfields and fly a 400000 lb airplane in my career!

CAVnotOK 21st Jul 2010 04:17

Wingbar,

In short, NO. The requirements are quite clear.

But don't worry, they'll still need guys when you do have the time.

Hello,

So r u saying that if i have more than 4000 hours in the crj200 which mtow is 24000 kgs I should say that it is above 30000 kgs in order to get an interview?
Then my other question is that on the Emirates online application the only choice you have when selecting the MTOW of your aircraft is either below or above 55000 kgs, and no where is mention of 30000kgs.

Thanks

Oblaaspop 21st Jul 2010 20:32

Mr Saucer, please don't be tempted to lie on your application form!

I think you will find that the recruitment PILOTS know exactly how much a CRJ200 weighs, and if they spot the fact that you have been telling 'porkie pies' when they trawl through your log book first thing on day one, you will be sent straight home.... Do not pass go, do not collect $200, don't bother wasting our time again!! (trust me it happens)

Wait 'till you have the requirements, far safer that way!

Good luck.

flyingsaucer 21st Jul 2010 20:48

I wasnt thinking about lying, I was asking if that was what one of the guy on here saying we should do to get an interview.
As far as the requirements would u prefer hiring a crj 200 captain with more than 3000 hours PIC.
Or an Fo with 2000 hours on the crj 900 and 4000 hours total, I am saying this because the first one wouldnt meet EK weight criteria while the second one does since the crj900 mtow is 33 tons.

I just think it doesnt make sense and it is a poor sense of judgement. Hopefully someone at EK recruitment will realize that and get rid of this requirement and instead maybe require PIC time.

Fred Garvin M.P. 21st Jul 2010 21:02

Apply with what you have. Just ran into a new hire going through sim training who worked at 9E prior to EK. He said that several of his friends just got called this week to go for interviews. All with CRJ200 PIC time. Things change on a daily basis.

wingbar 21st Jul 2010 21:09

To the previous posters, thanks for your help RE hours requirements.

I can find nowhere on the Emirates website that states there is a 30,000 kgs MTOW rule either.

As an aside the EMB 145 comes up as a type listed under the aircraft type category.
If this wasn't considered valid jet time then why bother enlisting it!

Food for thought. I may just apply and see what happens, nothing to lose.

flyingsaucer 21st Jul 2010 21:22

Thanks I have already my application in the system since 2 weeks and so far nothing but I hope to get an opportunity to interview soon now that they have accepted crj200 guys to interview.

we shall see

EK direct to enterview...

Hi, Need to know how they send you the tiket ... mail? or you just show up at the counter from EK.

Thanks for the help.....

Oba1kanobe 22nd Jul 2010 04:47

Does EK still have a below 30 BMI limit? Right now I am at 31.8, which was enough to keep me out of the interview when I was furloughed back in '09.
Thanks in advance.
Yes..........

thatwasclose 22nd Jul 2010 05:09

Hi guys.
Just to clear up the 55 ton. I went to the office and asked. Yes, there is a 55 ton requirment. It does change though and it may change again soon. Go ahead and apply if you want to come, at least you have it filled out if it changes soon.
Hope this clears things up a little

DMN 22nd Jul 2010 05:22

If hired for A330, what are the requirements to move to A380?

sheikmyarse 22nd Jul 2010 05:40

requirements to transfer from A330 to A380

4 years of night turnaround to India....!!!
Enjoy!!

Oblaaspop 22nd Jul 2010 06:04

Thatwasclose,

I don't know what 'office' you went to, or which cleaner/toilet attendant you asked, but I shall correct you again:

THERE IS NO 55t REQUIREMENT!!!! GOT IT????:ugh:

Oblaaspop 22nd Jul 2010 06:06

Sheik, That was actually quite funny for you (and sadly very true!!)

Royalblue 22nd Jul 2010 20:07

Couple days ago at the open house was stated by the HR lady and the Canadian Ca:

4000 hours/2000 jet

OR

2500+ on modern airplane(30t +)

......................................................
I had a bit less than 4k but more than 2500 hours on 30t+ so they told me I was ok :)
......................................................
HAs anyone been called yet that was at the US roadshows?

TonyWilliams 25th Jul 2010 05:36

No call here from the 19 July 2010 Open House. But, she did say 10 days, I think.

thatwasclose 25th Jul 2010 06:19

Actually odlaaspa,
The office I refer to is in Dubai. The person I spoke to is the head pilot recruiter for EK. The cleaning staff are all very nice people but they do not much care for knowing about what the requirments are. Nor should they. I asked because I have several friends who do not have the 55 tons and are intrested in coming. If you do not agree, why dont you ask? I hope they drop it as a requirment again.
Good luck everyone.

thatwasclose 25th Jul 2010 11:13

OK, I must it humble pie and say sorry to oppallasa and all for bad information. It is indeed a 30 ton requirment!!! I simply got it wrong.:\
Sorry about that guys and good luck to all

atpcliff 27th Jul 2010 14:49

Hi!

Just read of interesting EK developments with regards to US pilots...info coming from "Open Houses" in the US. They are giving a good representation of the "bad stuff", it seems, from attendee comments. EK is also saying they are in GREAT NEED OF PILOTS...admitting it right out in the open.

There is an MD-11? sim in Atlanta, I believe it was. EK told the attendees that ANYONE that meets the minimums can come and do a sim assesment. That is ALL that was said about the sim.

I THINK what that means is that if you meet the mins, and you pass the assesment, then they will give you an interview....so that guys like me (never have been on the shortlist in over two years) could do the sim, pass, and have an interview...whereas if we sit around waiting we might never get the call.

Also, I am ASSUMING that if you pass this ATL sim assesment, none is needed during your DXB interview.
IF this is the purpose of the sim assesment, it seems like a good idea to me.

Comments welcome!

Have a Nice Day!

InnocentBystander 27th Jul 2010 20:48

In the last couple of classes are quite a few former US RJ pilots. So they seem to have relaxed the weight requirement.

flyingsaucer 27th Jul 2010 21:59

Well if they flew the crj700 or 900 then they do meet the 30 tons requirement.
If you said they are guys that flew the crj200 in class now they must have interviewed a few months ago when the limit was at 10 tons.
The question is are they currently interviewing crj200 and erj135/145 guy?

I dont think so, at least for now

f/spninx 27th Jul 2010 22:20

I know this will open a can of worms. But are there any DEC in the gulf area.

Wizofoz 28th Jul 2010 01:08

f/s

Qatar and I think Etihad at the moment, and Turkish which isn't Gulf, but isn't that far away.

dubaibound 29th Jul 2010 03:31

A couple of years ago EK spent a week or so in Atlanta doing assessments on the Delta MD-11 Sim. I understand that it was because they didn't have the Sim capacity in Dubai. I have heard absolutely nothing about doing US Sim assessments since then. Art thou speaking through thy hat?

Dsy737 30th Jul 2010 14:09

Hi,
I really don't understand with total flight times. Do they both need 4000 TT and 2500 TT on multi engine jet? With a TT 3200 hr and 2600 hour on B 737, will i meet their requirements?
Thnks..

flyingsaucer 30th Jul 2010 14:18

Yes I know it is confusing, but it is 4000 TT with 2000 TT jet time OR 2500 TT in a jet over 30 tons regardless of your TT.
So you do meet the requirement.
Good luck

Open days in the UK

I have seen on ppjn there are going to be open days in the UK however the date of the information said they were starting in June. Now on the Emirates website the closest open days are in Sweden and Norway. Have I missed the Uk open days or does anyone know if there are going to be any more open days in the UK. Have done a search and can't find any trail of there being an open day in the UK.

MAX 1st Aug 2010 04:23

Can anyone who has joined recently give me an indication of areas where pilots are being accomodated? Married, no kids.

I had heard it may be possible to request areas with no guarantees. The answers at interview were vaguer than a vague professor that mastered in vagueness at the university of Vague.

Almost all EK accomodations for their "newly recruited" FO's these days lie somewhere in the dunes halfway to Dhabi. And I kid u not....:ouch:
Only gets better by a few miles closer to civilisation i.e Dubai, when(and IF)they select their Dec's. Not that that's going to happen again in a long long time...
Been there,done that..
Now time to smell the daffodils...

Eiffle2 2nd Aug 2010 07:15

Gday fellows,

Question, has anybody gotten in EK with just turbine time(no jet time) I know as per website, minimums are jet time!

Just out of curiosity :)

regards
