Just curious to know from those that have interviewed at EK as to how long it takes to get an interview at EK after submitting the online application?

Also, how often does one recommend updating the application?

To Anyone With Credible Up-to-date info:

I have an Interview with Emirates at the end of April '07. In an attempt to gather any and all info. Have been studying "Ace the Pilot Technical Interview" and have read through "Emirates Interview.com" info. Am I on the right track? Does anyone have any additional insight or information?

on the glide, was told by close friend who just interviewed that he found the xyz ek guide good in general, even though absolutely none of the tech questions in the xyz guide were in the tech quiz (he's a reliable source). He told me that he found the xyz guide a good general prep guide, with good pointers. He said the questions on the tech exam are ATPL type questions, performance, engines, aerodynamics ect...and it's multiple guess, er choice. As for the difference with the CX guide yes there are quite a few diffs especially with regards to backround info on the company. hope this helps. Cheers

What is the process of contacting the applicants after the 3 days of interview. Some candidates take longer than others to be contacted, doe's a referee check indicate a possible employment offer ?

In reference to JayK's question about racism at Emirates, I am curious about the hiring of women there. I am very interested in pursuing them, but was wondering if they would be more turned away from hiring a chick. Want to know what to expect or if it might be a difficult time getting their interest in me. Currently flying heavy international, so I'm more interested in Emirates and the living in Dubai.

women pilots are welcome, so far the same standard is applied to them. if you have good time in your log book you would not have a problem

Just want to get some facts right. Basic pay for an fo is dhs20840 which is less than what EY is offering right. ( I thought there was just a pay rise recently ). The website mentioned hourly flying pay based on block hours. Is there allowance when abroad ie. night stops??? And also the website is pretty vague on medical coverage. So please, could anyone shed some light on this matter. Is EK looking for drivers on both fleets at present???

New Basic pay scale
 

1) FO basic pay: 22072 Dhs = 6014 USD
2) Nightstop ave: 55 Quid UK, similar in Europe, Asia will be less. Don't count on saving anything of that.
3) Flight pay 35 Dhs per hour based on 75 hours per month (900 hours in 365), but in reality we only should be working 10.615 months of the year if we account for leave. So That averages out to 2322 Dhs extra per month for flight pay. Which is 633 USD.
4) ERP or exchange rate protection, some get extra some don't. Check website for figures. If we use our sheep hugger friends form NZ, they get an extra 1,200 Dhs based on the old scale.
5) Phone allow. 22 Dhs

As for the apartment, well read lots of not so good things on it in the forum. Is the 3bedroom apartment that bad? Just want to know how the deco and furnitures are like. After reading what the guys said I have this old and 1980's mental picture of the place. :ugh: As for upgrades would 5years be the general waiting time? Or does it depend on which fleet I am in? On average how many layovers does a typical pilot gets in a month and what sort of pattern would one expect? Just trying to get as much info as I can before making a decision.

All the old apartments are taken and there is a shortage of accomodation so when a new one is ready guess what, you'll get a new one. The Millenium tower is fantastic. The furniture and decor is very modern with 2 squash courts a resort type pool on the 7th floor and a very modern gym with lots and lotsa eye candy.

Upgrade: Boeing 3 years. Airbus under 4 years.

Rosters: Depends on how you bid, 5 bid-groups. Example of a Boeing roster. 2 JFKs, 1 LHR, 1 MNL = 85:20 block hours

Flight Pay: 85.33 x 35 = 2,986 Dhs
Overtime: (85.33 - 76) x 325 Dhs/hr = 3,032 Dhs

June Pay:

22,072 Basic
22 Telephone
2,986 Flight Pay
3,032 Overtime
+1,200 Exchange rate Protection (For a NZ National)
29,312 Dhs

7,986 USD

Oh and almost forgot... 18 days off!

To answer your q on layovers:

You can bid for as many as you like or as little as you like. The bidding system is very flexible. You can avoid places, FOs or Captains, night flights etc, or desire them, fly only turnarounds, only asia, if you have yellow fever....do what you like. If you bid correctly then you're in like Flynn.

18 days off 2 jfk 1 lhr and 1 mnl, is that what you get every month or is that you r top month? would not count on OT everymonth but by the sounds of it lots this summer and more so on the B. would not base your plan as to weather to come or not on the above roster, but you can get that roster in an upper bid month. 1600 plus pilots now would have to be 3200 ish for the upgrade , my guess is 4 maybe 4.5 years for thr upgrade by then would make any difference which fleet.
