I was somewhat skeptical when I heard the rumours about widebodies. As for Filipino licences..I know a guy who went on a 'zero to hero' course and got one in 4months, now he's trying to get a foot in the door with NAS :suspect:

Alvand 6th Apr 2010 07:08

Please allow me to address this alanoud02, "BOZO"....

My dear winged bufoon, alannoud03,....

I trained many Winged bafoon Cadets like "YOU" for "Royal XYZ A.F." years ago in the "FORCE" !

Even the best of "YOU" did not impress me as much as a IDF pilot, slated for wash out that trained in the same trainer as you back in Texas heat...

You are lucky to have so many great pilots from west looking for employment with your company...so, instead of worrying what they vent here in PPRuNe, try to learn how to fly a passenger plane, before economy has improved and they're all gone back home....:}...LOL....

Whats the score?

Hi Guys,

Thinking of applying for a Capt position, and have just read this thread.......mmmm....sounds interesting to say the least:\

So before I make a serious mistake I would really appreciate your comments and information, especially from ex-pat guys currently working there.Feel free to PM me,the good, the bad and the very ugly........

Ok here we go..

Does many ex-pats live in Riyadh with their families?I understand the housing is on a compound, any names?... info regarding quality of villas, social life, facilities and security??(was asking this as I would consider NOT commuting but being based there)(my wife wants to go....mad I know)

Understand its not the best place for the wife, any comments on this?Is there any ex-pat guys there with family?(Brits,Europeans or North American?)

Schools?British or American...are the fees expensive? Mostly covered by the company?

The booze question......??:ok:Home brew?(sad I know,but I like a beer)

Whats the deal with the recruitment in Jordan and this 'FRED' guy?(heard so many great things about him)

Has salary been paid to pilots recently?Working conditions?

Am I wasting my time paying for a flight and even considering this????(I am currently out of a job, not yet desperate, but do not want to make a big f@@@ up by moving the family out there and it being a total mess)

Thanks in advance for anyone willing to give me more info.:ok:

FlyingOrange 13th Apr 2010 14:52

Superhosty;

Don't know where you get your figures but a Capt on 6/3 is on $8000.
0-50 hours are included in the basic
50-75 hours are 250 SAR
75+ is 400 SAR

Most guys average about 60 hours... so far FAR short of your figures

Night stop; inside KSA 200 SAR, outside KSA 400 SAR.

6/3 is not really 6/3 as all training is done in your own time, and travel to your training.

Rotation starts AFTER you finish all your training, upto 4 month then start your 6 weeks on.

Andy 767

Guys have tried to have family here, but does not really work as you are ON your whole 6 weeks. CEO has stated that your only entitled to legal rest, ie 24hours Off in 7 days, and that does not have to be in your home base.

Wifes get bored here, nothing to do. They can't drive or work so just shopping.

Compounds are difficult to come by and waiting lists are long.

Education is at your expense. on 6/3 your family is not covered by insurance.

As for recruitment and Fred, read the link

Booze, home brew.......... we can show you

If your contemplating family then I would think more Saudi.

Samiadam, it sounds as if they are considering per diems and allowances as part of the salary, which obviously they are not :)

Hi, saw that link.....mmm, I call it a little far out from the truth. email them and ask for the breakdown, then see.

If you put housing in at 8250 & transport 750 SAR in you may get near this figure, but then you won't be living in the compound that they state and you'll spend that easily for a decent compound.

Then western compound they quote with pool, tennis court and gym is the company one. It has about 3 trees all tarmac, and the buildings are feet from each other... all the pilots are moving out or looking to move out very soon.

Also I think that they are being, over zealous with the flight pay.... on a good month working a full month you may get somewhere near that, but the following month you only be there for 2 weeks so you can expect to get 50 hours only.... BASIC SALARY. Thye are fully aware of what the costs are and as soon as you hit the 50 hours you'll start to slow, at 75 hours near to standstill.

Next month maybe 3 weeks on duty, 60 hours.

Samiadam 14th Apr 2010 03:20

Flying Orange, Understood. Thank you for the info. Currently im with Royal Jordanian On 320. so no need to move at the moment.

Thanks

Sam

FlyingOrange 14th Apr 2010 08:54

Salary

Just crunched the figure.

Flying 100hrs in a month your get $12,500.

That is no night stops.

Add $2400 for housing and transport and you come near the figures they quote.

BUT as I said, you don't do 100 hour months, and you need to spend your housing on a compound.

Also the money for trainers. NAS does not employ trainers directly. We have many JAA TRI/TRE's here and also FAA Full Check airmen, and they are not trainers. There is a lot of politics about trainers... I'll leave that there but sure you can read betwen the lines!

Flying orange

I know what you guys make as I happen to work in Nas, didnt know about the basic salary been 8000 US pcm as you say, but all in all, with flying hours, my numbers are right.

About the family concerns, wouldnt recommend the Kingdom, most people here are single or happily "acting as if they were", I mean nobody reasonable would move to this country and spend 6 weeks on in a row if they actually care about their family life.

Money is very good though, and people do have fun(wont go into specifics)

Any other questions, pm.

Salary

Superhosty

I work at NAS too as a pilot, and I know what my basic salary is ( I get a payslip each month with it on).

Your figures are incorrect, except on a very full month. But as I said you can only fly 3-4 months a year at that rate as the rotation pattern does not allow it and neither doesthe law (max flying hours)

No sugar in my coffee please ;-)

Sorry if I am posting on wrong topic, but I heard that out of low 20ish ab-initio assesment in Jordan, 15 were selected and waiting on something. Anyidea what it would and when they would be going for their training?
thanks in advance,
CBAFIL

Samiadam 21st May 2010 11:54

cantbeafoolinlove,

is the ab initio program with NAS for Saudis only or is it open to non nationals also?.

pls advice,

Thanks,

SAM

cantbeafoolinlove 21st May 2010 22:30

as far as i know, only for saudis'. For non-saudis, I guess it must be a super dooper, mega "wasta" i guess if.
back to original question, anyone knows when are those guys starting their training?
CBAFIL

Hamid_27 25th May 2010 21:31

Hi all,

They dont accept Ab initio pilots unless they are nationals.

I sent an email a few days ago to Mr Fahad "Fred" al Kezzi himself, along with my CV, and he replied today, he wrote that I don't meet the minimum requirements:D, and can not progress with my application.

UK CAA FATPL CPL IR 200 hours :*
Lol, worth a shot!:E, but with whats been written on this thread, i guess im better off.

hope this answers your question Samiadam.

Samiadam 26th May 2010 04:08

Hamid and CBAFIL; thank you both for the info. Do u guys have any idea what min requirement they are asking for expat FOs. As nothing is mentioned on thier website. Are they going to expand as they have stated a year ago or is that all frozen now.

thanks

Hi Ive been sent the details of what is required to apply to NAS Air:

Copy of all Licenses (CPL, ATP, FAA). ·Copy of GACA Medical Certificate. (if Available)

Anone else had an issue regarding the medical attachment? Thanks

NAS

What is NAS paying for an ERJ170 Captain these days? I thought it was like 12.5 and now i saw a contract through Sigma for like 8000!

pilotcpb 27th May 2010 13:46

if you guys wanna work there be careful, i went to an interview about 18 months ago and they totally lied to me about some terms of the contract so i literally walked out of the interview, and i was annoyed because i traveled 12 hours just to get BS'ed by that Kz guy... and i hear they just hired a guy who got fired from my company for landing a cat 1 airplane in less than 700 RVR; this guy also made the national news for a runway incursion at LAX. his ATP was revoked but maybe that doesn't matter to NAS....

Netjets Middle East/Nas (private jets)

hi,
anyone knows the email or the procedure to work with njme??
thanks

NJME / NAS private

Kanela

Knowing a number of pilots and FA's there - I'd recommend unless you are in dire need of the cash, avoid the option for now.
It appears rotations are changing for everyone, their Management is all new and very inexperienced in their new roles and appear to be making clusters of everything on a daily basis.
They have lost much of their competent Management recently and are paying the price with a fast spiral...
The new chap in charge of flight Ops is apparently appearing to be hiding and none of the troops have heard from him as he tries to find his feet.
Appears to be smoke and mirrors and lots of hollow assurances. When people vote with their feet though the truth is clearly evident.
Scary times from what i hear...
Good luck!

ussux 3rd Jun 2010 16:07

NJME again!

Mladen

Your comments ring true. I was a fortuunate enough one to be laid of in the firing party they had in 2009. Havent' looked back, but feel for my many friends having to put up with the lack of direction there from their new bosses.
Latest on the Black Berry circuit and crew room is the Cabin Crew Manager resigned last week, only two weeks after the CP also decided to call it a day. I'm told the new DO sunk her on a conference call with the CEO when he didnt annownce his presence on the call or back her up when she was wrongly accused of things. "How to win friends and influence people" expert? Right....seen it all b4.
The meery go around will keep turning and the folks with the gift of the gab will all have a stab at running the showe and like so many before them will leave the place in a worse mess than when they took office.
All hat, no cowboy as we say.... has he even flown an aircraft there yet?feel sorry for my friends but at leaste there is jobs out there now without the extra requirement of reporting to folks who don't know what they do.

Good luck boys n gals

NetJets Middle East 6th Jun 2010 07:53

What a shame

Oh Dear, It is a shame to see this happen to what has been a great outfit...

What was that definition of insanity? "When something is repeated over and over again and the individual continues to get the same failed response"
How many failed 'experts' have been moved into those DO/CP Management positions over the years at NetJets Mid East straight off the street, no in house experience, promised the world, changed everything they possibly could without taking time to understand operations, created confusion and discontent and then dissapear a few months later leaving a rabbling mess behind.... There is a reason sooo many crew are resigning.... it ain't rocket science either!
Was this the same member of "new the rescue management team" that checked himself into hospital three days into the job due to stress related disorders and has been high on God knows what ever since bouncing off corridor walls in Riyadh? Me oh my, something about NetJets "backing the wrong horse..." echoes down the corridors...How do they extricate themselves from this mess and loose the looser without loosing face.... aha! The folks in Riyadh will find a way, they always do, not as naive as they may seem!
Truly a shame to see the lack of direction and the resignations piling up.... perfect evidence that it is the people that keep a place running, not the money, or the aircraft - but the experience and talent of the right people in the right jobs.
I best sign off - time to update the CV, I probalby won't get that type rating I was hoping for...

Answering your question

Hi Suz,

About fight attendants, the offer is 3 months on and one month off including the ticket to go home on the month off, basic salary 2000 usd and u might get up to 3 and above according to flying... not much flying so don't let anyone convince u with a much higher salary ...:=
Compound with pool, gym and shared accommodation.

Resigning during the 1st year is really difficult ..:ugh:

Riyadh is not bad it is simply what you make out of it ...

All the best of luck

Ops Managers incompetence!

And has the bi-polar new Mgr of Flight ops been shown the door yet or does he continue to try to strong arm his way and hide his incompetence by yelling and bossing the folks around that still have zero respect for him?
I'd be intrigued to know has he even been checked to line as a First officer yet - not to mention the fading hope he may one day actually be a captain with the organisation he tries in vane to rule.
I laugh from the sidelines hearing of the constant 'rumour control' emails being sent from that dept...! me oh my.... what a circus.
