Saga goes on and Capt is gone from Qatar while F/O is stuck due his new born baby has no passport yet and he need to wait to get it from Latin America there he go to aske CEO if he can give him some time or reconsider termination,CEO answer NO and took his ID.
A A320 Capt young guy good skipper was stopped from Inst upgrade and CEO was after him for long time only because he married a EX C crew who was terminated and blacklisted to enter Qatar .After she complain to H.H.S.B.J owner or Q.A who blasted at CEO for mistreating crew a A320 Capt trouble started and by the end he was send for SIM with a S.D a well known Italian TRE who will sell anyone for position he was failed and kicked home . Again CEO proven his power to flight deck .

Sorry to say Qatar Airways is not place to stay as long as there is CEO who run airline based on personal hate basses .

I have 3100 hours total with 2900 on the B737, mostly on the -800. I sent my application via email and post about 3 weeks ago. What sort of chances do i have of being selected for interview for a B777 F/O position?

Anyone with similar sort of hours heard anything? Just curious as to what sort of experience Qatar Airways is after.

I have similar experience to you Speedbird 1, applied about a month ago and haven't heard anything yet. Like you, I would appreciate even a rejection letter right now!!

I applied early September and got an invite last week, it took about 6 wks.:)

Anyone know how long it takes to get the travel arrangements? I received the invite for mid Novemeber a few weeks ago and gave them a Qatar city I will need travel from. They said they would get back with the travel information but nothing as of yet. Just want to know when I need to worry.

On another note, I understand that most of the time you will tend to be assigned to the make of fleet you have experience in - ie. Boeing guys wll go to 777, Airbus guys will get Airbus. But on the Airbus side do they stick you with the type you have flown? My experience in on the A320, but could I get A330/340?

Don't worry QR is very short of instructors and the number of applications are very high , also they a short of FOs .

I have just submitted my application via e-mail around 5 days ago.
Reading through the many threads on this subject I have come to varying conclusions about the time some are waiting to get a response.
What I wanted to know was, does anybody who's been successful at selection, or, had an interview think it's any better mailing it via snail mail as well?

I dont know this for sure but, I mailed my application via FedEx and it worked compare to my buddy who emailed it and he is still waiting for his reply. but then again I know ppl did get an interview by just emailing the application. If I were you I would do both mail and email.

1.5 month wait for interview invite, no experience on fleet, curious as to which aircraft might be offered if hired. Sent app Fedex.

Sent my app in early Septmber via US postal service. Received invite for November interview before Sept 30th.

What currency do they pay you in? Do you have a choice?

They pay you in Qatari riyal: no choice.
But if you are from US..lucky you, because the riyal is peg to U$ at a fix rate:
1U$=3.65 QR...so you will not be affected by the Crash of the Qatari riyal(following the U$)...like a lot of us here!
Huge lost for some of us...!:ugh:Not fair IMHO..but nothing done so far by the company to protect us against this fluctuation....(ERP is a joke).

Aside from "Ace The Technical Pilot Interview" and following some of the links to the JAR testing questions, what else is good for the interview? Do they want you to know about the nation of Qatar, the history of the airline, stories from your flying past?

Approximately what is the "pass" rate? I know things like this change all the time, but any guess on the ratio of interviewees to job offers?

Third, assuming it goes well, how long from the interview to getting the good news, and how long from the good news to starting class, and how long from starting class to the first paycheck.

I would add that I sent my resume 1.5 months ago and so far I have no news from them. I have 4000TT, 1600 jet ( half corporate half airline ), no airbus experience.

Don't worry , QR r very short of FOs , the problem is not be able to interview the number they should .
I advise you guys to give a look in ETOPS regulations , AWOPS , RNAV , and some manuvers , like Windshear , EGPWS etc. Off course the Ace interview book.

Bit hit and miss IMHO. Applied by email and post at the start of September. Nothing at all, not even a PFO. I've got 5000hrs on Boeings including 4000 on Heavies and 8000 total. Congrats to all who were successful. I've given up waiting.

You should be getting something soon. It takes an average of 6 weeks to get an invitation.
