Captain salary: ..10.000...U$/month(all inclusive) +company accomodation +school allowance.(flat).No pension. No Bonus.No extra...Hard work&roster!
3% annual increase only on the basic.(..7200U$).You got paid for what you perform, no more no less..well on 320 i would say.. less... as sometime we have high amount of duty with small amount of flight time!:ugh:

Sounds good like that, but for the work we perform on a daily basis,i donīt feel being overpaid here!
Better condition in Air Arabia,EY,EK...taking everything in consideration.

Fubaliera 5th Sep 2009 17:42

QR salary depending on how you bid.(320 family)
If you bid all night turns youll make the most hours and pick up extra trips . Its possible to fly here as much as arabia and youll see the pay is the same.
If you bid layovers may get allowance, but less hours due to regs
The problem is guys like loc2250 want to make the same as air arabia without working as much. Also these guys think that discouraging pilots from coming will bring up our salary. But the funny thing is the complainers her dont leave.
Welcome

NoJoke 5th Sep 2009 21:15

Well

LOC; I agree with your general ideas. In fact I totally agree. However I must say that your ideas are squewed. I agree that some stupid fools thought that the last payrise was a pay rise; in reality it was a cut. We are due a 50% rise to compensate for previous inflation.

We shall see: a rise or mass departure.

edit: RAISE?

Hi Guys,

I've just sent my application through and hopefully will get called up for an interview.

Going back to the test questions. Would the JAR Bristol question bank be good to study off?? I know Bristol question bank is very accurate to the actuall JAR ATPL exams.

Goodluck to all.

Transition Level 6th Sep 2009 16:33

Does any body knows if there will be any interviews on the week of the 21st. to the 24th of this month.

Thanks

shneidertrophy 6th Sep 2009 21:58

No Joke,

spot on ! And yet everybody was aplauding during that meeting. The CEO and YB (now EVP HR) received an almost standing ovation by all pilots present at that meeting, exept a few (including me). They realised we where once more taken personally.

Why is it that pilots are so easily fooled?

Fuba,

So an A320 pilot has to fly his nuts off (night flights, max hours, etc) to make a descent salary, a salary comparable to the next door LoCO operator? Why do pilots on A330/B777 make about 15% more /month compared to the A320 pilots?

Any smart explanation for that one as well?

HR in this company is a joke. And flight ops management is an even bigger joke! Spineless worthless jokers!

777 bond at Qatar

Hi - could someone tell me if a 777 bond at Qatar reduces per month / year after starting or is the full amount owed right up until the end of the bond?

Is it still true that it's $50K over 3 years?

Thanks a lot for any info.

northern boy 7th Sep 2009 18:45

Anyone else had problems submitting the application form via email? Rejected by 2 different mail systems as "unknown". Eventually sent it 1 page at a time as 8 separate emails, and stuck it in the post this morning just to be sure.

Any ideas as to how long before a reply can be expected?

Thanks.

northern boy 8th Sep 2009 11:34

Thanks FMC. I've PM'd you with a couple of questions

Monur 8th Sep 2009 12:48

Re A320 trip length - would most of the trips be out and backs, or 2 day, 3 day, 4 day trips etc? In other words, apart from night flights, could a pilot expect to be home most nights?

NoJoke 9th Sep 2009 09:00

AA

Just for interest AA, a LoCo down the road, a Captain gets 50,000 a month assuming 2,000 hrs on type, 75 flight hours (33% night hours). Housing is not included neither is the annual bonus which has been quite good, nor the share options. :ok: Compaired to a 320 driver here getting around 35,000. :}

Fubaliera 9th Sep 2009 15:45

ST
Im comparing 320 operations with 320 operations. 320 to 330/777 ops with in the same company is a different story. They get a better deal yes and its not fair I agree, but loc 2250 was compairing to AA. If someone moves to AA for sure they never see a layover or a widebody jet. Its not looking good at QR either

Royalblue 10th Sep 2009 02:36

Do you guys know if there is any guy or website that does phone prep for the interview?

Spigot 11th Sep 2009 01:12

May I ask if DEC type rated on the 320's also go through the same process?

did u email them your application or sent it through post mail ? i have sent my app twice through email ,, i didnt get any error messages from email , but i havent heard anything from them as well? i sent mine about a month ago !!

northern boy 11th Sep 2009 14:15

For anyone interested I managed to work out the problem with the emails being rejected.

They need to be less than 5Mb. An 8 page form plus photo plus scan of passport can easily exceed this. I rejigged the whole thing to 3mb and it went through no problem although there seems to be no auto acknowledgment.

After all that I hope I get something positive.

BritishGuy 11th Sep 2009 14:34

Errrr......mine was 14.9MB and it went though. I didn't get anything being rejected (or at least nothing telling me that I'm being rejected!) I also sent mine by post (just incase!)

Anyone know what the cutoff age is?

Cheers

northern boy 12th Sep 2009 10:30

Must have been my mailer then, I tried both Yahoo and the one built into OS X. Rejected anything >5Mb due "policy".

Put it in the post last Monday.

FMC, just out of interest, when did you apply?

Thanks for the comments.

a4mrav8r 12th Sep 2009 12:42

Same Question as VanPelt338. Is there an age cutoff for consideration?
Appreciate any information anyone may have. Best regards.

written tests

Hi everybody,
Anyone remembers the questions in the written test?
Please !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:{

brewman187 12th Sep 2009 22:43

Hey FMC, what kind of time and experience do you have? I just applied myself through the mail because I couldn't get the online version to work. I'm a CRJ captain in US with around 5000 total and 1500 jet PIC. Do you think this type of time qualifies really for an interview, anyone with knowledge please let me know. Thanks in advance everyone for any input on this.

FlyingCroc 12th Sep 2009 23:13

too late

About 2 years ago you probably would have been invited for an interview as a A330 captain. Today you still might have a chance as a A320 FO. Good luck.

Royalblue 14th Sep 2009 18:27

:ok:It got kinda quiet here.....Anybody with new rumors and info on the written test?Give us some hints there are a lot of interviews lately

ANY furloughed pilots got the interview?

hey Guys!
Did any furlouged or laid off pilots , who have been laid off or furloughed for atleast an year and do have minimum requirements for Qatar Airways , got the invitaion for interview ? i am in a similiar situation and trying to get an interview with QA, sent my APP through email, havent heard anything , and now sent the APP again through FED EX, hoping to get an invite , please let me know if any other furloughee was fortunate enough !!! thanks.

Flash_F16C 15th Sep 2009 23:32

?

non expiring licence? well as long as u keep your IFR currency and bieannual experience and required Take off and landing numbers for carrying passengers your licences doesnt expire ! what expiration are u talking about ? are you talking about being current on the tubine aircraft flonw last with an airlines or charter?

Stone_cold 16th Sep 2009 06:10

Prior to stepping upon your podium , you should take note that you are participating on an INTERNATIONAL forum and in most ,if not all jurisdictions other than the FAA , licences in fact do expire .

PDF form problem

OK, I give up.

I have obviously failed the QR initiative test as the PDF file has got the better of me.:bored:

I have downloaded the Application form PDF, but every time I go to type data into the PDF form the following a message appears:

'Data typed into this form cannot be saved. Adobe reader can only save a blank copy of this form.'

So how on earth do I fill it out and then email it back (as the form suggests) if I cant save the data. I know I can work around it by filling it in, printing and then scanning it, but that rather defeats the object of an electronic form!

Many thanks in advance for helping a rather slow northerner.:ok:

northern boy 16th Sep 2009 19:40

Hi JWFI

I had all sorts of grief with the form as well. You could as you suggest try filling it in,printing it then scanning it back into your computer as a file or files and attaching them to an email. I tried this but the system refused to accept the emails until I reduced them to under 5Mb although others here seem to have managed it.

I eventually sent the thing through the post but since then after a few experiments I discovered that with an Apple you can save a file as a PDF. This I did by taking all the scans and pasting them into a word processing document then used the save as PDF option. Bingo, problem solved.

I have no idea if Office XP or even god forbid Vista will let you do this but its worth a try. QA probably have half a dozen of my applications in various different formats but I think they prefer PDF so if you can get it into that format its probably better.

The only other way to produce PDF documents is to buy, borrow or steal a copy of Adobe Acrobat. It costs a lot of dosh but if you want the job badly enough... If you know someone with a Mac, then the Pages application will read .doc files and save them as a PDF as described above. Buy them a pint and ask nicely.
Alternatively, ditch the PC and get a Mac. Then even if you don't get the job, you will at least have a better computer

This may be part of the selection, under computer literacy in which case I am truly screwed.

Good Luck.

An even slower northerner. (Form obviously designed by a flash southerner)

Medical ?????

Two arms, two legs. This is Qatar; no problems. I mean it. :}

loc22550 17th Sep 2009 05:15

and two eyes..should be enough.

Fubaliera-No joke:
Yes indeed i think for 320 driver we have here in Qr the cheapest condition.
I mean somebody who is experienced on 320 and doesn't want to fly long haul, or is not interesting in layover, he better goes to Air Arabia !
By the way i might be wrong but i don't see the salary condition anymore on the qatar airways website for pilots..?Why?..Did they realised that salary wise they are not competetive anymore in the gulf area compared to neighbouring companies like EK,AA,EY...?:}

atpcliff 17th Sep 2009 11:07

Hi!

By non-expiring license, I think he means that you are current now. The FAA is the only org. I know that gives non-expiring licenses, and sometimes it is awkward on the applications...they ask you when your license expires, but what the really mean (maybe?) is when does your currency expire.

PDF Form:
You can fill the whole thing out, and then email it. I don't see why you would have to save it first. I did NOT want to do that, as was worried about being almost done, and then having a problem.

I paid $20 for PDFIll.com. It works great, and allows me to save the PDF, open it re-edit it, etc. I decided to spend the money as I had had this same problems with PDFs previously with other applications.

PS-I have XP SP3. Macs ARE better, but they are more expensive, and LogBookPro will not run on a MAC.
I think Sonys, Toshibas, Dells, and Intel chips are too expensive, also. I get a PC laptop (none of the 3 above) with an AMD chip. I usually buy a refurbished computer from the manufacturer, via tigerdirect.com.

PPS-Emirates started taking apps 14 Sep, and I heard are planning on starting hiring in Oct.

Real requirements

Hello,

Does anybody know or have experiences that applicants with minimum required experiences were invited for interview. For instance I have 2100 hours of which 1900 is on 737 mostly NG, what just meets criteria for type conversion as stated on QA webpage.

Thanks in advance

3dimsims 19th Sep 2009 23:09

Hi Fulcrum77,

For your info, I have the same experience and haven't heard anything from them yet.

skya320 20th Sep 2009 13:18

Minimum of QR 450 (USD 124) up to the age of 40
Cost approx. QR 700 (USD 192) for initial

loc22550 20th Sep 2009 17:02

Why ...does the cost of the medical increase above 40...??:\

Had a medical there recently and the Doctor was very personable. I asked him about the JAR med and he said it was in the pipeline. The last renewal I did was in DXB. No hassle there!
