I get it that you don't miss it...
That is where you are wrong. There is Moderation here. And this thread is very close to being locked.

Heard from a fat little arab that CX boyz at EK were promised 1.5 years to upgrade, that hasn’t happened (gulp, shock, surprise) and now threatening to leave.

You know the EK motto, yes?

” Don't like it? Leave. ”

EK has an endless supply of willing pilots from a place about 3 hours east of Dubai.
They’ve said publicly that experience isn’t important for them. They don’t care that people are leaving.
Not my circus, not my monkeys.

Total bs.I did the ek interview and I know three of cx to ek pilots personally, no such promise has been made.

Curry Lamb is one of those typical examples of peculiar personalities full of schadenfreude you see too often among pilots. Going on and on about own airline on the flight deck or on FH harbour, and a total switch on other forums or in the hotel bar the moment other airline colleagues are present..

It’s just more of the same unfortunately. Over pay for a small town house or an apartment, full of maintenance issues, ever increasing bills, surrounded by ladies of the night and Southern Asians.
Not sure what’s worse at this point.

why do so many need maids too? Is it a status symbol or can they just not do abit of ironing and cooking?

The theory behind the maids is that the maid can do all the boring household tasks leaving the parents to spend more quality time with their offspring. What actually happens is that the maid does the housework and raises the children while the parents go out and have fun. Many children in Dubai are raised by maids. It is possible to raise normal, well-adjusted children in Dubai but it is harder than it would be at home. When the kids eventually leave Dubai the collision with reality can be dramatic.

I guess it depends where they go after leaving Dubai. If they leave for Europe or other like minded places I guess they will find themselves very much aligned with the rest of the children there.
Look it is not easy to have children in a new country completely different from one own, I understand the need to cut some slack to maintain some peace at home within the family.
But I do agree, some of our colleagues have terrible behaviors and mannerism which make them bad parents, maybe the children are better of with the maids.

.
Id say Europe, particularly western Europe would be as far removed from a Dubai upbringing as you could find on the planet .

It would be easier for them grow up and move to Africa, south east Asia , China and even the US now!

Maybe you mean that they still have shopping centres malls with costas coffee and the equivalent of spinneys.

Europe isn’t like minded, it’s almost the complete opposite.

Really interesting. Well intoretirement now but I have always enjoyed the morning PPrune 'lurkabout' which has developed into an, often, serious read too. Contributed quite a bit, done some jail time & even banned. However, the lurkabout always started with Fragrant Harbour Thread where I larfed my head off at girlies taking a handbag swing at eachother.. I was mourning the loss of that iniital raed, a bit, but discovered it had shifted to this thread.

Some pseodonyms I recognise too. One ex CX chap who turned into a near stalker, changing silly names often but always recogniseable by his inane and jealous outbursts, seemed to have moved over to Emirates too. So, despite the threat, Mod, don't close it off just yet.!

The Emirates Rumour Mill now becomes my larf of the day initial read.

Probably well known to most but I am a CX wannabee failure and twice tried Emirates, but failed too. .........Ghaaaad, I woz ever so saved !

not missing much at EK, small incentives tiny pay increases now not either inflation or matching many of the pay rises back home for the boys. Popular choice for Aussies and South Africans due limited opportunities in their home nations

Gordo, I am ex CX albeit long ago. You can take it from me that the reality of life in HK and working for Cathay was not always the imagined nirvana. Some made the best of it, made money and left. However there were casualties along the way with the internal wrangling resulting in the 49er fiasco being probably the worst example. I expect it is the same at EK masquerading as the new Cathay. Anyway, sorry for thread drift, back to those darn rumors…

Who is bringing what through customs that would warrant two emails from Captain Brian?

Why is it so hard from them to send out some information?
Just more threatening emails, as always.

Last year target was 11.9 we did 18.7. 6.8 over and 20 weeks bonus paid.

This year target was 14.2. 10.4 at half way point. Strong Oct and Dec, weak Mar.

All things being equal would need 21 + 9% corp tax to hit 20 again.

Maybe 15-18 but who knows. They can make it what they want to make it.

Probably the 2nd last big one before we back to 2 and 4 weeks.
