Guys… It’s not about the bonus/profit share, it’s the work and life you put yourself into! It’s f…. hard work - on the B777 in particular! What’s the benefit of a decent bonus if you drop dead, either before or shortly after reaching retirement!
Ask your EK AME about it… Just saying…

They will never allow pilot bases overseas because if you’re based overseas you come under that overseas country’s employment laws . This is a problem for Ek because for example you would have certain rights for annual leave, maternity leave, sick leave and the right to be represented by a union etc.It is bad enough for Ek to have to deal with this for ground staff but for pilots it would mean they’d lose the ability to micromanage.
Many years ago a senior manager had to apply to AAR to employ someone extra at a USA base to cover maternity leave , and yes this is the level of micromanaging when an area manager cannot simply employ someone on a short term contract without asking the EVP! Anyway AAR refused as he said the ground staff was not entitled to so much time off as it’s not given in UAE. He was furious when it was pointed out in USA that is the law and the ground staff are under UAE employment law !
so unless a miracle occurs there will be no overseas bases!

This is the reason CX closed all their bases a few years ago.

I have been wondering how long it would take for someone to bring the swing video up. ( I saw it about a week ago). It makes me wonder if the “ New Gen” just don’t care:
I believe most of the crew , including the Flight Deck crew have been sacked… and I can understand why. But, who thought it was a good idea in the first place? What was the Captain thinking?
