Never underestimate the cunning and deceit of the company. They will screw us every which way to Tuesday as long as they can keep on getting Ryan Air arsholes to join the ranks.

I think that your comment is really rude and you should keep it for yourself.
Ryanair pilots are not the only problem here , you could include all the pilots coming from other countries were the working conditions are lower than here and also pilots working in companies not having any heavy aircraft.
If you were flying for years as captain on a B737 or A 320 an you see the opportunity to join a company "offering " you the chance to fly on the B777 , A330/340 or A380 what would you do ?
The same apply for all the pilots flying turbo-prop and offered the possibility to join FZ on a shiny B737-800 or a quick command upgrade for already qualified B737 first officers.
This will never end except if pilots stop thinking only short term and own career and start thinking for the group and long term....
We can dream but after so many years in the industry I doubt this will happen.
Also look at the quality of the training and the requirements in some company and you will see that there are a lot more involved in the reduction of our terms and conditions that the Ryanair pilots.
Also if I may ask , what are you doing about it ?
Here in the Middle East when I ask this question to many of my fellow pilots complaining about many things like no salary increase , no bonus , no increase of housing allowances , rostering issues , fatigue etc...
The answer is nothing because there is no union here , it is not legal...
So why would things change with this kind of reaction , do they think that union comes at Christmas sent by Santa Claus...
It is easy to complain and moan but a lot more difficult to stand up and act.
Everything is possible anywhere if you do what is needed and are ready to pay the price for it.

By trying to shame the Ryan Air (Arsholes, cancer, pay my trainning, etc etc) maybe they will wake up to the industry. They are not the only problem with the industry but they are the biggest problem by far to the industry. What are they thinking or are they thinking at all?
Sure a turbo prop pilot wants to better himself like any pilot would want to better himself. But why in the he11 would you pay for your type rating and pay for training? That is a cancer and there is no shortage of that kind of mentality.
It is a sad fact that unions are illegal in the UAE. Why? We all know why but that is for another thread. However unions are very much legal in civilized Europe and what do the Ryan Air pilots do about the opportunity presented to them that is not available to us? Absolutely Nothing!
Yes Ryan Air pilots are a Cancer!

What about those who are here who didn't pay for line training, were actively involved in REPA to bring FR pilot plight to the public domain, refused to get an ID card and got sacked accordingly, never had their contracts renewed because they refused the drop in t&c's and change of base, those who took FR to court for breach of contract, those who said enough is enough and voted with their feet.
There are guys which have done all the above without a proper union.
Now tell me what have you done to try and stop the rot in your last company and industry?
I guess you moved and came to EK. Right??

The reasons for then quitting have very little to do with the thread title and also the comments regarding all fr pilots are degrading terms here.
Majority of the latest hires have been on the fatbus. In fact I'm sure the latest recruitment drive is for fat bus drivers? Are they equal or just super regardless?

Cerbus,
The reality with paying for a type rating in Ryanair is: A guy with a licence can:
A.Spend years working your ass off instructing, flying for commuters on crap money.........etc ( as I did).
Or:
B. Borrow 30 grand, pay for the rating , and earn the money back within your first year, + 900 hrs 737 time.
Added to the fact that there are basically no other airlines hiring in Europe at the moment ..... You would want to be an 'arsehole 'not to take the pay for the rating option!
As for the Ryanair Arseholes who came to Emirates,... they came along with a whole lot of others from other airlines to the selection...... And it's was the Ryanair people who passed. They haven't changed a thing here...(apart from having a generally more humble attitude then some of the people I meet here). They are on the same contracts.
So no Cerbus ....Alas, It is not the Ryanair guys, but ...you who are an Arsehole.

Man, this is great entertainment. Having spent a number of years in Ryanair and a few years in Emirates, all this in-fighting and bitching is very deja vu.
Seems like the guys who have been at Emirates for a few years don't like the look of what's happening and feel the need to find a scape goat. Can't be anything to do with them that their nice shiny airline isn't paying a bonus any more - must be the fault of those Ryanair @rseholes. If they really wanted to, of course, they could choose any other target group with few options such as ex-Varig, S Africans, furloughed Americans etc but that might include them, which would not be convenient.
All very familiar to the refrains I used to hear in Ryanair. The guys who had been there a while blamed the cadets for lowering the Ts and Cs while the cadets blamed the old-timers for doing nothing to resist the ever-decreasing remuneration.
In reality (and you EK guys really won't like the comparison), the 2 airlines are very similar. Hugely focussed management intent on expansion and profit and, only recently in Emirates, cost reduction. In both cases individual pilots have one tool at their disposal if they don't like what's happening - leave the airline. I spent way too much of my time trying to help stop the rot in Ryanair before coming to the conclusion that it wouldn't happen soon enough for me so I left.
Emirates is still not a bad deal but, rest assured, it will get worse. I didn't leave because of the cash but because I don't have enough years left to waste on Dubai or long-haul flying. For those who remain at EK, good luck to you. If it's good enough, enjoy it. If not, leave. Just don't waste your life typing drivel about someone else ruining your nice cosy life. Want a reality check? Look at the people who facilitate your nice, pampered existence and then tell us your tale of woe.

Yes Adolf but you did join EK single, age 50. Is this maybe why you didn't enjoy the life in Dubai, why you felt the fatigue of long haul more than most? Maybe also why you can afford to leave without needing a job to go back to?
Would your opinion be the same if you were 26 yo, slogging the uk LCC market for the next 40 years?
Do you regret leaving RYR?

Having lived in a previous Expo city, I see no reason (hah, yeah I know) why rents should rise except for greed and using that as an excuse. The venue is no bigger than the Wadi Walk they are building on 311. People don't move to a City to see an Expo.

wet wet wet
If you notice round the sand palace in jebel ali, there is no surface drainage, of any capacity to consume a small rain shower.
The show was disrupted by sand storms on day 1, light rain on day 5.
Have they moved the rubbish skip at the end of the runway yet.
Ibn Battuta mall was also flooded, as were several of the main road infrastructure.
As an aside I know there is a bus service from the terminal to Ibn Batuta, will this be sufficient for the passengers, and bags. Will the busses run as the normal long haul buss, we leave when full, not on any regular schedule.
Need a check in at Ibn Battuta, or Union Square Bus station.
And why not check in in DXB, and baggage drop. Then Bus from there.
Will baggage be allowed on the bus, and is baggage allowed on the metro yet, what about duty free bags......
