Have a little time on my hands at the moment, have just reviewed my 2012 to 2013 end of year accounts figures. European/UK shows a net cost deflation of 0.07%, the USA (NY/NY) bit a net cost deflation of 0.16% & the Dubai bit a net cost inflation of 16.744%.

On the revenue side, European/UK an net increase of 2.06%, USA a net increase of 4.72% and Dubai a a net increase of 27.29%. The mentioned figures reflect the sum of earned income and income from capital investment.

The Dubai figure is largely capital return with net increase in earned income a mere 1.724%.

Costs are getting a little on the wild side in Dubai, let's see if the law of diminishing returns kicks in.

It is only going to get worse for us at EK. Word is we will be handed our rosters within a year and we will not be able to bid on anything.
The Accomadation Dept wants to pay only what our lease is and not a penny more. So all of you single fellas living in a 1 bedroom flat paying 65,000 dhs will only get paid 65,000 dhs for live out allowance and the company will keep the difference now, not you.
Also hotel allowances are going to be vastly cut.
The Arseholes can not stand to have working folks making money off them but it is good for Ryan Air pilots. They paid for their training.

The Hotel Arshole who lives in DSO is a neighbor. Unfortunately I have to see him occasionally but he did spill the hotel info as well as the housing allowance. He has been right in the past about certain things. I hope he is not right about these items.
This arsehole couldn't contain his glee in thinking about all the money the company will save. He will get a portion of the screw job institute by him to us.

If that happens (and I'm sure it will) I'll just move to a bigger flat and use the maximum amount they will pay.

Also hotel allowances are going to be vastly cut.
Not the "food vouchers" rumour again is it? Meal allowances have been steadily heading south all the time I've been here. They used to publish the figures in the briefing sheet but then people could work out for themselves when they were being stiffed so this practice ended.

You're right, they cannot face the idea of money going into someone's pocket instead of back into their economy.

The neighbours are getting Electric and Water price increases of between 14-17%
UAE water and electricity rates increased | GulfNews.com

I don't believe the post about matching Accommodation Allowance to Rent.
For those who work on the ground getting their hands dirty there would be an exodus of singletons for sure.

Ex pats save energy, locals abuse

Abu Dhabi: The Federal Electricity and Water Authority (Fewa) has announced an increase of 14 to 17 per cent in its water and electricity tariff. The change in chargers will apply to residential, commercial, industrial, and governmental sectors. Housing used by Emiratis are excluded from the tariff increase.

My neighbor a local, has his water for garden on 3 or 4 times a day.....his exterior flood lights on all day and night.

So I suppose I should pay his bill for him, as he is so short of money, we must help these poor people who have invited us to their land to help them extract themselves from poverty.

Citizens pay precisely nothing for water and 14% of what us slobs pay for electricity. 'Splains a lot of behaviours, doesn't it?

I do believe the housing allowance rumor. It was never intended for 3 young Spanish FOs to make captains pay because they live under one "accommodation" sharing a villa collecting all the excess allowance. You want the cash with no lease or mortgage? Itll be something like 100k. If you have a lease in your name or mortgage, no problem, you get the full entitlement. To be honest, I see the argument.

The hotel allowance is generally lower than most other reputed expat airlines. A friend told me his allowance on a Aussie layover was about 220 aussie per day. He works for a comparable expat airline.

But don't forget in all this, the accom. allowance is NOT an accom. allowance. It is a UTILITIES allowance which means it is intended to cover housing, DEWA, du-very-little/Etisalad et al.

With prices shooting up, I really do think people both in EK and elsewhere will pour out of Dubai as quickly as they can manage as it is, if the prices keep going up, let alone if the company reduces, or puts conditions on the allowance. Especially with Aren'twegreatapalooza 2020 on the way.

By which I mean, I reckon people would even go to Korean...

Im a little confused about the RYR cancer, and people harping on about how the FR crew are ruining the industry?
For the guys who are still working there, I see no problem, and for the guys who did work there I also see no issue?
The ones who are now in EK left FR for a reason, as they were unhappy with T&Cs and a selection of other issues, so what makes people think they will accept lower offers anywhere else, that's one of the reasons, they (inc myself) moved on.

I know people will start to talk about paying for your TRs etc, but that's not what's being discussed within this thread, it's they guys who are in EK now, I for one arrived at EK and am payed the same as any other pilot in Ek, be it ex Qantas, BA etc, I would not of come otherwise.

I hazard a guess the reason is because FR guys were starting from such a low base line at FR that EK has not needed to increase their package to make it (more) attractive.

The same reason they accepted low offers in FR......to get in the door. The Cancer spreads to different organs.

The most deadly aspect of cancer is its ability to spread, or metastasize. Cancer cells initially group together to form a primary tumor(Ryanair). Once the tumor is formed, cells may begin to break off from this tumor and travel to other parts of the body(Other airlines). This process is metastasis. These cancer cells that travel through the body are capable of establishing new tumors in locations remote from the site of the original disease(Lowering of Ts&Cs).
