It's funny though, I've said no thanks to a job, been turned down for a job, asked to re-apply for a job and let them know I am not interested and they still keep after me to apply...thought the system dumped any applications after offer and refused by you, or if not succesful...any ideas about how to get them off my case?

Maybe I'm one of the thousands that EK has claimed to be lining up for a job?

I just had to pleasure to update my records with the new application system. It now seems that I'm no longer qualify. They wrote me an email that the requirement is now 4000 hours total time, 2000 on jets etc, etc. I've got over 7000 hours on jets but I don't qualify??

issues with the app

Did anybody notice that the required fields on the new EK application were not populated correctly with the information from your original application?

For example I work for ABC Airlines but when I preview and print the application it says I work for DEF Airlines...

Just wondering if you guys have any tech issues with the new application.

Hi!

If you have 7000 TT on jets, and they require 4000TT and 2000TT on jets, then you qualify. If there are other qualifications that you didnt' mention that you don't have, then you don't qualify.

The people that own an organization can make the requirements anything they want and change them whenever they want. For example:
Alaska Airlines requires that you not be a tobacco user.
Virgin USA requires 5000 TT fixed-wing
The Japan 767 contract companies used to disallow ANY military time from counting, and the recently changed their mins to allow military time to count for the first time.

There is nothing you can do about minimums, but get them, or start your own organization, and then make the minimums what you want them to be.

Good luck!

Living and working with EK

Guys,

I've just been offered a positon with EK. However, theres a process to go through and at the moment its only at the start of that.

Whilst I like the idea of working out in Dubai with EK, it is attractive and on the face of it the T+C's seem pretty good can anyone give me an honest opinion of what its like working and more importantly living in Dubai.

As far as working for EK is concerned, I've worked around the world and all companies have there good points and bad. The working enviroment seems ok and as I currently work for a rather large European airline I've seen both the good and the not so and honestly feel that lifes what you make of it. You can either sit and moan (and get on everyones ****) or get on and change it (Move) if you feel like it.

I have no real reason to complain about my current position or the company I work for. I know what they are and know what they expect and they pay me very well for my efforts. Its my choice to stay or go. When this opportunity came up I looked at it and thought maybe I would like to take it further, just for me.

However, as I say I'd like some idea of what its like to live and work in Dubai. I'm single but have ties in the UK but eventually would like to take my future family with me but thats some time in the future.

Please be honest and frank and if you can help I would very much appreciate any input that people are willing to give,

Many thanks

Dubai has been okay for us but we have young family which makes budget tight on F/Os salary, if you have morgage at home with the changes such as no overtime (Gone) as they moved the goal posts with a nice letter in my mailbox saying we dont deserve it any more. No 3 percent that is usual for each year of service and today i think first time ever no bonus not even one week with us flying around on min fuel and single engine taxis and if you make a mistake at 3 oclock in the morning you will be sacked. I have a letter from sons school saying school fees going up 12 percent haven't seen anything from Ek putting up allowance so if you have 3 kids a bit of a change. I do enjoy the flying but wifes do hate the summers with kids inside and not alot of spare cash to take them out to waterparks etc. Think carefully before jumping ship...

Ash, you'll probably get answers on the Engineers' Forum. And it's likely you won't like them.

If you can stand 6 months with oat of 42 degrees which equates to about 55 degrees out there on the tarmac.... You should see the poor engineers sweat when they run into the cockpit to sign the book and then run for the next aeroplane!! If your current job is safe, stay!

Almost all the engineers we deal with are great guys......but thye are run off their feet.

They run from plane to plane, often signing off work that they don't have time to inspect properly, and putting their licences on the line.

Good luck in your decisionmaking!

emirates application

hello to everybody
i need an help for a friend of mine who applied few days ago to emirates as a first officer

he told me his application seems to be incomplete, infact looking at the progress bar of that,it indicates 85%,this is due to the fact he's not able to complete the section about military experience and rotary experience.
he has no experience at all on rotary aircraft or as military pilot,so he left the section blank, but the system doesn't flag obviously that section as completed,'cause it's blank

does he has to put something into the section or can he leaves it blank?

is there anybody of you who's experiencing the same problem?
tks

Maybe you need put in 0 (zero) hours. I have done computer programming so I know how illogically they can be. Many years ago a guy kept getting an electric bill for $0.00, they threated to cut off his power unless he paid $0.00. He finally wrote a check for $0.00 and it fixed the bill problem but then it blew up at the bank because they could not clear a check for $0.00.
