Travel to interview

Not to derail the thread, but just a couple of somewhat related questions.

-Will EK send a ticket for applicant's spouse to attend the interview?

-After the 6 month probationary period, the website says something along the lines of "unlimited concessionary travel". Does this mean that employee, spouse and dependents travel for free on any EK flight?

Thanks.

I agree with SOPS completely. There are things that you can and should prepare for in the interview. There are also things that are beyond your control as well and it will do you no good to get worked up about them.

Emirates is a first class operation. While they specifically say that they want you and need you, they are also going to only hire those who meet their standards. As they should! I very much enjoyed the interview experience although I wasn't that impressed with my own performance :0|

Don't quote me on any of this but with regards to travel benefits... I got a little confused on how it works exactly, but basically, you do get some sort of unlimited travel on Emirates. Something called 99s I believe. There are also ID 90 and ID 50 rates on your own airline with the ID 50 being positive space. There was much talk about how no one could really non rev very well due to the high load factors 94%-96%. No wonder they are making a killing!

Lastly, no, they will not fly your spouse out. Three people I know, myself included, were not able to bring our significant others as the travel arrangements were not set until the last minute. My travel was arranged 36 hours prior to my interview, another guy had one day's notice, and another guy had his interview dates switched by a week only a week ahead of time. They are just swamped there at EK.

Ttalk about an impressive operation though....

After 6 months you get all the staff travel benifits.
Subload ( standy by ) on EK and zed/id 90 on OAL
CAT 99 ($99) plus taxes on EK is Y class confirmed if you can get a seat, these are prebooked on a very limited basis on selected sectors
EK will not and do not upgrade their own, so if you have a Y class subload ticket and Y is full and there is room in J too bad you dont go, but the friend of the check in staff at the staff counter in DXB always seems to get a seat on the flts that are always full.

Its designed so you cannot prepare for it. very very professional staff, everything at least with me worked like clock work. Sim is standard as everywhere, advance compass test, group excersises, medical. Human resource girls are nice and cute so its makes the interview funner. check airman are professional, I got a guy from Canada who is a class act. be very polite to everyone, say hello to everyperson you run in to. dress to impress, different tie and shirt everyday, new shoes, haircut. make sure you recieve your yellow package upon arrival and fill everything out and have it ready.
good luck.
Im still waiting

just got a strange mail from Emirates group advising me about my application and telling me there is a roadshow in the USA and that they are looking desperately for pilots. Does that mean they want me to re-interview........ Would you not think they know I interviewed, does the one hand not know what the other does..?
More like the index finger doesn't know what the ring finger is doing...on the same hand..."notknowing"...maybe when the joining move logistics were completely mishandled it should have been the first intimation of things to come...

If you know your references gave you a good report then you should get the nod. Just checked the rostering system and things are slow in June, upgrades etc. Be patient

Just wondering please can anyone say if they have received a "Yes" or "No" in the last week or so, and if so, how long since you had your assessment.

Almost 5 weeks now and still no news.

Thank you.

Things seem to be slowing down on EK recruitment.
Maybe is the oil price or the lack of Instructors or the amount of applications to review, who knows?
Is anyone getting to the 8 weeks waiting period with no contact by EK?
My waiting period is now 4 and 1/2 weeks and nothing.

7 and a half weeks. that's insane. I have been waiting close to 4 weeks and no ref. check. I know they are interviewing a lot of people, but come on. United did interview in their best days double the amount of applicants and they were still able to tell you within 7-14 days "yes or no"....Although I would like to work at Emirates, the notification process seems chaotic

EK is not UA and if you do come you better remember that,EK does things there way and if you find that difficult you and your family will not last

Well said Fatbus....as I have said in another thread, if you are thinking of coming here please, please do not think you are coming to United/Delta/NorthWest/Whoever in the Desert.....you are coming to Emirates and things are done the Emirates way..and as fatbus says so well, if you cant accept that, you wont last.

Tomorrow will be exactly 8 weeks since my EK interview. I made it to the 3rd day. The week after my interview EK checked my three references. (My references took 1 to 2 weeks to reply to EK though).

No news from EK yet

So, because United can pump an answer out in 7-14 days, I assume you have statistical data to prove that point, does that infer United made a better decision? From my observations there were plenty of flaws in United's recruitment process.

I'd suggest you take a few weeks yourself to decide if you are capable of working in the UAE. Good Luck.

Fatbus and sops, Since you guys seem to have the insight why don't you explain what the "Emirates Way" is in notifying the applicants. I think that was what the thread was all about. I never said that United had a better interview process, they were just faster in letting peolpe know what the deal is. I think I am old enough to make my own decisions, I don't need your help. But thanks anyway. Trust me I " last long"......

Pilot applications are currently at an all time high with more than 100 applications per week for the last 2 months. The majority of these applications are from highly experienced North American candidates.
A team consisting of HR Recruitment and Pilot Selection is currently recruiting pilots in various major cities in the USA. Initial reports indicate a high level of interest among US pilots.
Guys..relax...that means you might have to wait a bit longer !! good luck and be patient..

Recruitment is apparently inundated with applicants from the US given the current state of the industry (100/week) so replies will be slow. The better qualified applicants will probably be swept up quicker.

Aout, the only message your post has conveyed is one of arrogance. Leave it at home or stay there with it, your choice. If you don't take my advice you will find it hard in EK and your transition from the USA to UAE won't be easy. It's not a threat, just the plain old truth and believe me, it's good advice.
