Hey guys it will get better, in time. You can blame the manufactures, the world economy, price of oil, and thousands of well qualified candidates. Yeah it sucked waiting so long. But I expected it to be different at EK then here in the states. EK does things its way and I am fine with that. So far 6 guys out 10 have offers. Thats pretty good odds, for interviewing at the end of April. Interviewing now would be a lot more difficult.

I am lucky still have a job where I like going to work. In a year will see. But my main reason for going over was to see what it would be like. And to not ask my self 5, 10, 20 years down the road what if? Why didn't I at least try? Well I did. No harm no worries. At least I tried, and I wont for ever have to wonder what if?

Cheers,
Biff

Recruitment Update-
§ Large numbers of well qualified pilots are still applying to Emirates on a weekly basis. We currently have a substantial reserve of high quality candidates available for interviews. Our main source of applicants is still North America and the prognosis is for this trend to continue.

According to the seniority list that is about right. Not sure about the exact figure but it seems approx. 40-50 guys left EK since May.

Some of them are FO's who have not even completed the first 3yrs...

Apparantely many newbees are seriously unhappy, makes me wonder..... Housing and training seem to be the main issues

Not really snorkel.. On the portal there are maybe 2 or 3 per month, maybe 7 in the one month - so since May probably 20 or so.. I certainly haven't gone 40-50 places up the seniority list - and yes, I'm aware that more recent hires are leaving too..

sounds a lot if true - but without knowing what the equivalent rate is in other airlines of a similar size worldwide you don't know if it means anything or is just normal, natural wastage.

A disinterested observer could be forgiven for coming to the conclusion that someone **up there** has come up with the brilliant idea to "save" money by lowering the average time in company (and therefore the median wage) of pilots to a level that is as low as possible by p**sing off as many longer term staff as they possibly can.

    Yawwwnnnn

Thought this threat was long dead. I rather like the 'you know that you are in Africa...' dig in the parallel universe.

Yes its true: Nobody has ever seen EK management during daylight. In any case we never show up in mirrors and live off a high protein diet. My favourite is O minus.
Our sole purpose for being undead is to trap unsuspecting flyboys and make them unhappy.
    1) By making them work more than 20% of their lifes.
    2) By having the community pool two centigrades too warm or cold.
    3) By refusing to provide a stretch limo as crew transport for four ringers. Instead you get a lousy Audi A6. And the colour? ... Eeeeeeek! Silver! How retro!
    4) By only providing first class travel, instead of a Gulfstream V.

    Dec A380

As a longtime resident in the sandpit up in BAH, you guys at EK don't seem to be enjoying life very much. If you're short I'll be happy to fly your A380 as a DEC with a suitable pay rise to go with the undoubted prestige

My comment a little too close to the bone, M5.5? Sorry, MrM5.5.

On that point, I'd really love to 'get a life' if only the *** rostering people would let me!!!

Is ANYONE happy at Emirates? Keep discovering until you find better shinning. All these recruitment guys here in the Gulf are laughing their way to and from the road shows. They have got so much to choose from nowadays. Bad days for so many airlines are bonanzas for these guys here. Will they change anything?
We've got to be positive. What negativism brings you ?

    Engineering Jobs

Ok, I've read the thread and understand that EK pilots are p155ed off/completely happy/resigned/angry/satisfied/etc,etc.

Question, going by your own experiences and your flt deck chats with engineers, are they as happy/sad etc as your selves or is the grass greener with a spanner in ones hand?

I ask only because my current employer has announced large redundancies and I am looking for a "new challenge".

Tried asking the same question of engineers in EK but they seem strangely tight lipped. Would that be a clue as to their happiness?

This is a serious question by the way and not a wind up.

    Regards, T.

    Don't !!

Live off unemployment benefits or sell your children for medical experiments - whatever it takes, stay away.
Gulfnews reports that the salinity of the Gulf's waters has increased significantly owing to the bitter (and salty) tears of EK pilots and fitters, flowing in streams.
(Even the mentioned community pools are reported to turn salty).
Shipping wins, though. Saltier water = less draught = more payload.
