Were you in the first week or second week of May.
I was in the second week and was watching to see if anything
came today, since this makes it 6 weeks.

Congrats on the notice

Skmarz, don't worry, you will be interviewed. The total delay of the B777 is one month, and recruitment is still going ahead at full speed. They have stacks of applicants, and courses are full until almost September. There is no sign of a slowdown in the expansion plans, even though the fuel price is biting. Get those baby-sitters ready!

Good luck.

Hey Blue 320, think yourself lucky EK is willing to pay for your travel.

You're correct! And the reason I was qestioning the travel... so that I did not waste the comapies time with a half dead applicant....not because I am a "moaner".

Think before bleating off and slagging a company that you are trying to get a job with.......

"beating off and slagging the company"! So you call requesting a change to an itinerary that would be a mutual waste...I would call it resposible because I care about my performance.

After all, it won't be too difficult for those in recruitment to identify you with you unique travel arrangements and email you claim to have sent.

No, it would not be difficult because I emailed the company the same concerns as I posted here and signed my name. They agreed, apologized, then corrected the itinerary. So what should I be afraid of...please do tell?

It appears the company could save itself the time and effort in getting another moaner in the airline (god knows there are enough of those already, without importing newbies!!).

Who is moaning here! And thank you for showing me what kind of pilots EK empolyees....I hope you are the minority.

My advice, is think BEFORE opening your trap!!

My advice, relax and have a good day mate!

I was just told that some interview classes were being cancelled. Mine is set for August and it was only moved back one day. My wife will not be able to come with me due to our kids starting school that week. How much will this hurt my chances in getting the job? Thanks

Skyvan, thanks for the information. My wife had already purchased her ticket but we can change it if needed. Looks like my Mom gets to spend a week with her grandchildren (with a little extra help from sitters).

Having your wife here or now won't affect your job chances at all. It would be nice to let her have a look at Dubai, but a couple of days doesn''t give you enough time to figure it out anyway. Don't worry about not having her here with regards to the interview.

I was commenting on the tone of your post, not the 'private' communications you have had with EK!

Read it through again numpty and you shall be enlightened to the error of your ways!!

"If so then I know what kind of company I'm dealing with and they will save both of us our time!"

"I've been sched for a July 1 interview for over a month with no travel itinerary and have been sending them reminder emails"

"Waiting on their response!"

Basically mate your post was one big MOAN about a potential employer.

If you are too short sighted to see that, then don't bother coming as you wouldn't pass the medical anyway!!

Recruitment Update-
Emirates has been inundated with pilot applications over the last 3 months. The majority of our applications are still from the USA.
Due to a healthy surplus of pilot applicants currently on the books, all planned off-shore recruitment activities have been postponed for the rest of the financial year. The pilot selection process has yielded very good results during the first three months of the new financial year. All transition courses up to the end of August are 100% full and the September transition courses will soon also be filled.

Relax boys...have to wait a bit longer !!

DC9,

Are you scheduled for 18-20 Aug selection? Just curious because they originally signed me up for 17-19 at the roadshow and then moved me back one day too.

It took them a week only to check my ref. ,but they told us in the interview (June 19) that something new came from above (that everybody will be placed in a pool) HR don't know any details at that moment.
My guess A/C delays and lots of applicants , so they might start pick and choose .
Good luck everyone and be patient.

Interview; Israel and the UAE

I am an American hoping to get an interview with EK.

Can anyone offer some advise on how to handle an issue in an interview situation?

I attended an American International School in Israel for 4 years during my high school years. (1969 to 1974). I am not Jewish, nor am I a religious person at all, but I was wondering if the attitudes in the UAE are open minded enough that my period of living in Israel would not be viewed as a negative.

I don't even know if this issue would be important enough for them to bring up in an interview. Any opinions on how to handle this? Avoid the topic or be up front with it?

Thanks in advance.

Be Positive

RT,

based on my experienced, there's nothing to do with the religion and you can find plenty of books there's contain the interview for the airliners.

My suggestion is Never talk about politics and don't talk about negative thing.

If you open the web for the Emirates or other major there's also a tips for the Interview,so just be prepared! They are nice. The biggest obstacle is you, yourself.

Just be you.

May the luck is also be with you besides the God Will, off course.

Well it has been 8 weeks now, and no email yet, either good or bad.

Refs were checked many weeks ago, and some from my group have
recieved answers saying they are in the pool. One was lucky enough
to accually get a start date in late Sept.

So is this the new form of Emirates rejection letter....no answer at all...
just leave you alone and hope you go away ?

Or have I fallen through the cracks and entered the "no mans land" of the
Emirates recruiting process ?

Thanks for your reply.

Mostly I was wondering because of the perpetual poor relations between Israel and the Arab nations, I was wondering if my history of attending high school there would be a show stopper with Emirates.

Any other opinions on this from any one?
