do U think flying 500 extra hours using autopilot made someone a better pilot
There has to be a line drawn somewhere.
You prefer landings to hours? Manual to automated flying?
I's all debatable but in this specific case it's EK's call.
They will eventually lower the requirement, but i'm afraid it will still be hours.

If I remember correctly, the minimum requirement of 4000TT is there since 2003. Before I think it was 2500TT.
I am sure you can find FO's with a few thousand hours who are more than able to to the job, are willing to come here and wait a few years longer to get their upgrade. If they have spent most of their time in a "glass cockpit", I don't see any reason not to let them try the interview.
We have FO's now that have a few hundred hours sitting in the right seat, and they can do the job.

The tech exam is not worth styudying for.
It's a multiple choice exam on basic ATPL stuff. While not strictly allowed they seem to leave the room while you are doing the test, and the group tends to help each other out discretly. It's also not weighted very much in the whole process, so if you've been flying long enough to meet their minimums you'll have no issues passing it. Don't waste your time studying for it imho.

Yes they leave the room...no it's not a conspiracy. Our group silently did the exam individually then traded questions at the end on the ones we weren't sure about. Each exam is the same or similar questions, but in different orders, so you can't all put "b"for question #25 for example. it's about 30 questions and nothing at all to worry about.
The sim is a visual circuit to a landing followed by a V1 cut with a S/E MA and G/A. When i did the assessment we weren't allowed to use A/P..i heard a rumour that's changed now.

Ek Interview Book
If anyone has the XYZ Interview book and wants to sell it, I would be keen to buy it from you.
I know people say the tech quiz isn't much, but I have friends who think pilots who think pilots should be able to quote "theory" of lift and what not. What's hard depends on what you know
Any PM's would be appreciatted
