Smile Roster sample??

Hey guys,

Is it possible any of you PM me a recent sample roster to see how it looks?? Don't mind if it's A330 or B777 but just to have an idea. I've been trying to find on internet and only one from 2008

Going for the interview soon.

Thanks!

tornado,

I passed....so money well invested on the Skytest! (like I said, its pretty close to what you get on the day)

Regarding the sim check. Can someone tell me.......do they set you up engines running on the runway with 'before take off checks' to go? (i.e. all weights and speeds (vref etc) in) or with what setup?? and you go straight into visual etc, etc. Having done all the briefings in the briefing room prior.

Thanks in advance.

Yep, engines running and ready to go. Use your own airline SOP's. If I remember rightly, its an engine failure on your first take off but that might have changed.

I heard only 4 of 16 made it past day one today.

Only 2 of 16 made it to day 4 in my group.

As for the simulator ride, first takeoff was a visual circuit, no tricks. Time the base leg about 45 seconds after passing the shoreline, come back in crossing the shore at 900 feet. Second takeoff, low viz, engine failure. Fix the problem, talk to everyone you need to and bring it back to dubai. Missed approach, clean up the aircraft, sim pauses and then you have to say where you are going next. Straight forward, fly it with your current sops, and use CrM to its fullest. Hope this helps.

Cheers

Feedback,

In my group last week in dubai, 14 on day 1, 9 for the rest of the process, 8 of us were successfull. So half of the original group will join, we were RJ pilots, europeen mainly (+,1 australian and 1 from the US).

Selection, nothing new, every thing is on that topic, the only new stuff is on the sim ride, you have a Go around on the 2d app.(at the end)

Ek people, sim tri, hr people all lovely and relax, no tricks, if you prepare correctly and you're motivated, it goes very smoothly...

good luck and enjoy the buisness class on the way to dubai..the Cognac is fantastic

Up coming Interview

Hello fellas!

I am having my interview towards the end of this week and I have just started preparing for it.

Any hints/help on what to expect on the day from 'brothers' who have recently been through it?

Rgds

Hello all, I'm new to pprune and this EK forum. I sent in my online app. to EK about a week ago, and when I last checked the app. page my status changed to shortlisted does that mean anything or do all apps change to shortlisted once completed.

Welcome tenaca,

No, if you have been changed to "Shortlisted" it means you can expect an interview date soon.

Good luck!

Hey,
Just a quick question, if an applicant makes it through the 4 days in Dubai, and the reference checks come back without problems, can one expect a positive answer from Emirates? If not, is there a large percentage of people getting rejected after 4 days?

Shortlisted?

Regarding the status "shortlisted". I have been so for a week or so. Does anyone know what the EK reactiontime is? Should I expect to wait for weeks, months or so?

To answer Nosher, if you pass the 4 days and all the references check put you will certainly be offered the job; They won't go through the hassle of checking your references if they don't want to hire you!

The only 'difficult' thing about the Compass Test is ATPL questions. Mind you, I'm putting difficult between brackets considering in my personal opinion the ATPL questions are really more geared towards practical knowledge rather than pure theoretical knowledge.

If you operate in Europe or see winter operations on a yearly basis elsewhere the performance questions, which make up most of the 30 ATPL questions, will not be an issue for you. If you know your company's performance manual, you are already well prepared for them.

The remainder of the Compass Test is not really something you can actually prepare for. There's some memory challenges, some multi-tasking and some spatial awareness and instrument reading exercises. But unless you can't remember what an EHSI looks like there's really nothing to worry about.

If I could give one tip for the Compass Test it would be to refresh your basic maths. Addition and subtraction along with long division, ETP calculation and extremely basic linear acceleration equations. For some who have been out of College for many years and don't have an active interest in physics or mathematics it might come as a bit of a surprise if you didn't take an hour or two to refresh this stuff.

To give some perspective. I attended a pre-selection day not so long ago nearly completely unprepared due to personal circumstances and I passed regardless. I admit I'm in a more comfortable position than others who might be unemployed, but the general atmosphere was relaxed and easy-going. Most of us simply ended up chatting with the recruiters/pilot at the coffee table most of the time. They do mention these selections are more about getting to know you and who you are rather than grill you.

Hope this helps.

HI d105,
When you say performance questions, can you give some examples. I haven't seen them mentioned anywhere else. Cheers

Going to be too late/miss out

Any idea on for how much longer/how many numbers they will need over the next few years. Just getting frustrated that I won't have minimum hours to apply until late next summer and fearful that both emirates and other such companies that are recruiting like mad now will have all the numbers they need by then

Any ideas/advice?

Many thanks
