To CM175: This negative reply was for Cadet Programme. I have TR for A320 so this was probably the main reason for rejection. But I'm still waiting for reply to DEFO application.

I don't have an ATPL Frozen so it doesn't directly touch me, and I actually red so well the description which you have posted above, that I was even more confused when rated applicants have been accepted during the application screening instead of being just rejected. When a recruitment team accepts applications where inside of it has been clearly stated that he/she is already a holder of an ATPL Frozen, in my world that means you suits to them and obviously he/she is going to catch the opportunity. Just my point of view.

It seems a bit silly that someone who already has an fATPL would get so far in such a process. To the best of my knowledge, even if the airline wanted to - the fATPL pilot wouldn't be legally allowed to re-take all the tests starting from scratch.
Perhaps we haven't heard the whole story here, but clearly the fATPL guys should be going down the DEFO route only.

@ THE G-FORC3 yeah a bit silly, that's what I'm trying to say....no point to let them getting through the process and managed to even reach the interview step while applicants with no hours or experience have been rejected at the initial screening and its places took by rated applicants. By now what is done is done and I can say that I really enjoyed this experience whatever my outcome will be. This cadetship is still a huge opportunity for people out there, what I would like is that the next time a more professional initial screening should be absolutely done. Good luck to everyone.

In my opinion it is good that people with a commercial License, but whitout experience apply to this kind of cadetships. Because why would you train even more pilots when there are thousands of pilots with all kinds of experience out there.
We should stop training large numbers of pilots until the suitable people with a License have a descent job. Therefore it is good to see that the licensed applicants are taken seriously!

Any scheme that is giving a chance to fly for those without the financial means to pay for the training is a step in the right direction. Aer Lingus, and any other airline out there, should be taking the best pilots based on their skills, not on whether they have the money to pay for a license themselves.
Anyone who thinks that it's bad that airlines are doing schemes for unqualified people clearly wants the industry to keep sinking further and further. Going by your logic, why should an airline hire a low experience person with a CPL, instead of going for the person that's paid to be on the right hand seat for more experience?

While there is a lot of perfectly capable guys and girls who don't have the means to fund their training going for this scheme, EI are going to choose the candidates with the most corporate sology filled linkedIn profile they can find. Nothing to do with flying skill. Other airlines send ab-initios for flight grading they have to pass.
I'l say it again, EI are looking for future "managment" who wont rock the boat, not pilots.

With 20 cadets last year and 20 this year, that is a lot of management posts to fill..
I thought I saw somewhere that up to 75% of pilots at Aer Lingus came through the cadet scheme? Might not be so accurate now, but it was at one point.

There will always be a demand for DE pilots though due to the long lead in time to train new cadets, so it's not like cadets will ever replace the stream of DE pilots.

USA1pilot: "We should stop training large numbers of pilots until the suitable people with a License have a descent job."
This wouldn't remotely reflect the training involved in any other industry. Anyone who wants to train to become anything can do so at their own expense if they want to. Who should deny them that right, irrespective of the job prospects? Try to persuade them that it might not be the best idea, by all means, but nothing more. And even if it were possible to legislate to prevent people from training to become pilots, who is this "We" that you speak of that should decide who gets to do it and who doesn't?

Anyone have any idea why rejection emails appear to be going out intermittently? When my friend told me he'd been called for stage 3 I had pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I didn't get in. The fact that I haven't received the rejection yet is really toying with my emotions.

Congratulations and good luck GeeLee, nice to know of the thousands who applied someone from the thread made it that far. Also thanks ctbrown92 for sharing that info. Still not too much to go on but hopefully it means everyone will at least know where they stand by the end of the month.

I'm pretty sure that there's more than one from this thread that have made it through, but are keeping that to themselves due to the small numbers that have made it to this final stage.
