Only just heard about this programme, got very excited then saw that applications closed way back in September!
Bit of a long shot, but anyone know or can hazard an educated guess when they will reopen applications?
Cheers
Edit: nvm just saw the above reply.

I heard it may open again around the same time this year, so August/September time. But that was before the bmi merger was announced so they may have changed plans now as they have about 250 airbus rated pilots.

...and a shed load more slots and aircraft that need 250 pilots to fly them.
As some slots will be used for long haul there will be a net increase in pilot numbers required, which is a good thing all round.

Sorry to repeat myself especially since perhaps almost everyone now posting to the thread either did not apply on time and is looking forward to next time, or did apply and has had their application progressed one way or t'other - I did apply on time but I applied for FPP via CTC and have heard nothing whatsoever apart from an instant standard acknowledgement in early September after I had applied.
When I log in at British Airways it still shows the status of my application as **Submitted**. There are no more emails in there other than those I received to my external email address.
I have received no contact via CTC.
Does anyone know whether the status of my application on the BA careers website would have been updated if I had been rejected on first sift or ... ?

Salary Structure during and after FPP
Hi all,
Firstly many congratulations to all those who succeeded with the BA FPP!
I looked at this scheme when it opened, and was shocked by the low starting salary, which was prohibitively low for someone such as myself some years into a career and with bills/ mortage to pay, which sadly put me off applying...
I was wondering, do any of you know the salary raises / structure once you're a fully operational BA F/Officer after graduating from FPP training? Did BA shed any insight to how your pay would increase over the years, or were they rather backwards in coming forwards about pay?
Also, do you have to self-fund your overheads whilst on FPP training (rent + food, for example), or do you get some kind of allowance from the School whilst in-training?
Just wondering how the numbers stack-up... (esp. as living near LHR isn't cheap!!)?
Good luck to you guys proceeding with BA FPP and those still in the process... am contemplating applying in the next round, numbers pending!
Cheers

ClubWorld1979:
The salary is apparently low, however I doubt you took into consideration the 'extras'. There is a 'flying pay' which is typically around £800pm, and of course the £1000pm to repay the £84k bond. The salary increases quite dramatically to fall in line with that of a DE FO after a number of years (5 I think).
As for the funding of living expenses, this information is readily available from the FTOs themselves, what's included depends on the individual FTOs so you'll have to look there or ask about a specific school.

There was somebody having a rant about this a couple of pages back. It's safe to assume that the best candidates were chosen, their geographic locations are merely a coincidence.

4015: I think it is 7 years before FPPers join the main payscale.
ClubWorld1979: I believe the approximate salaries for the first 7 years are £22k, £27k, £32k, £39k, £45k, £48k, £50k. I haven't got these in writing but we were told them in one of the presentations. These figures exclude "extras", and of course there has been a 3.5% pay increase recently. Hope this helps, and good luck if you apply!

To anyone doing FPP at OAA:
So, I haven't fared well in the start date lottery. Like everyone else, I can't wait to start training, but I also have strong family reasons for wanting to get the 5 months in Arizona out of the way asap. I wondered whether anyone who is on an earlier OAA course might actually want to start later (e.g. to allow time to save more money or finish a major work project). I know this is highly unlikely, but if you would then please PM me and we could ask APL if they would allow us to swap. Thanks for reading this.

Sound as a euro,
You need to get in touch with APL directly and organising a swap yourself will not help. We have tried this already and they were having none of it. They have a specific procedure they follow.

ExMil: Thanks for your reply. I have spoken to APL and while they sympathise with my circumstances they couldn't see a way of moving me to another course. If start dates are assigned randomly (as has been suggested), and if two people both have good reasons for wanting to swap, I would be disappointed if they didn't consider it.
If anyone else has any useful advice please do PM me. Many thanks.

In regards to the selection process, was there an assessment day AND an interview for those that passed the assessment day? If so, how far apart were they? I'm looking at applying but, being Australian, if I have to travel from Sydney to London more than once, it's a lot of money to pay for a programme which I will have a slim chance in getting into.

Through OAA, the assessment was conducted on three separate days (two at Oxford, one at Heathrow) with a month or so between dates. Not the easiest if coming from Australia I'm afraid...

Personally, I got my application in at the start of September (I think the deadline was soon after). First selection day I could get to was end of October (22nd I think) and we all heard on Dec. 9th. Could be different next year of course but that's what it was this time.

I had contacted them last year about this. The reply emphasised the fact that if the candidate didn't meet the minimum requirements, they would not have been eligible for the Programme. They also stated that you must have achieved the A-level results required first and foremost. Predictions wouldn't have been accepted. I highly doubt that they will change this basis if the programme was to be continued this year.
Cheers.

Can anyone clarify what is the situation with a potential new pay scheme? Will new recruits join on a 34 point scale now? Will current pilots switch onto this?
Thanks in advance.....

Hey guys just a question. As you probably aware that BA should open their programme application on 1st February 2012. I check since that date but nothing is coming up ? Have you heard anything about that ?
