Congratulations to all accepted!

Any news on the lower end of the accepted age bracket? Ive seen a couple of 22 year olds accepted, however have there been any younger?

Thanks

I guess I would be in the young category, 25 myself. At my final round I was one of the youngest, there was one chap studying in his final year at Univeristy who probably won that award though!

In general I felt as if BA were looking for people with a bit of life experience under their belt (from my interview questions) and it did seem as if most people in the final round had at least a Bachelors degree.

I say this as I am fully aware that there will be 17/18 year olds reading this thread and wondering whether or not to apply to University next year or gamble it all on getting on the BA FPP. I'm not for one second saying that if you are of that age you will not stand a chance, but I would encourage you do think of a back-up plan and a way to build up those key skills given what i have witnessed.

I cannot wait to get started on the course, and I look forward to meeting posters from here. The hard work starts now!

I think it's great news that the programme is being populated by people with very different backgrounds. Not only does it show that genuinely anyone stands a chance, but should also make for a nicely diverse course during the training (though no doubt stinking plane chat will be the norm).

I'm in my late twenties, an Army officer of 6 years (nothing to do with aviation), and have a PPL.

kingofkabul,

Without wanting to be too nosey, would you mind sharing what you did between university and now? I graduate in June and am unsure whether to get on with working life in London or somewhere similar, hopefully maximising my personal development and that all important life experience etc etc or live with dear old mum and dad minimising expenses whilst working a few jobs to contribute to the flight training fund.

Would just be interesting to hear what you did between university and the good news!

Also, many congratulations to you and all those successful.

Like kingofkabul, I'm also at the young end of the scale (based on the other candidates at the final stage at Cranebank). I'm 23 and was the second-youngest there - in stark contrast to the earlier selection where I was actually one of the oldest.

I graduated from university last year and have been working in finance/banking since that time. Apart from one gift 'experience' flight I've never been behind the controls of a plane. What really helped me in the interview was drawing on my extensive list of extra-curricular activities throughout school and university, as well as performance bonuses and appraisals I've had from work.

Paperplanes,

I worked in strategy consultancy in 'The City' for a bit before working for an airline in a management/commercial role. Both experiences armed me with numerous examples of the skills that I think helped my application. My wopping 8 hours of flying experience probably was not much help I fear! Looking back, at 20 years old I was not mature enough to fly, so for those who have got in at such a young age - huge congrats that is an incredible achievement at such a young age - well done!

Hello everyone,

I was also lucky enough to make the grade. I'm 31 and 5 months and have a degree, MSc, PPL and have been working in an aeropsace field for just over 7 years. I selected OAA.

Looking forward to meeting everyone in the near future.

Have you logged into your BA recruitment log in page? You can see the status of your application & your emails on there.
