Hard luck to the unsuccessful people. Hopefully you'll have an opportunity to apply again.
To the successful ones, see you on an Airbus at LHR in a year or two hopefully. I promise I don't bite.

Judging by the quality of the people I was surrounded by on my selection day I didn't hold high hopes for today's news! Regardless of todays outcome I was hoping to be happy in the knowledge that I at least made it to the final stage. Looking forward to meeting all you successful ones on our training course! To all the others, chin up! There's always other opportunities round the corner. I sincerely mean that.

Out of interest of those who were successful, what is everyone's background to help understand what/who BA was looking for? Hopefully will help those for future applications.
I've been working in a non-aviation industry for 6 years and have under 20 hours gliding experience and certainly no RAF experience/scholarships so I don't think it was the flying history. I met all education criteria, but didn't excel. I've got a lot of work experience with leading teams and communicating with various sets of people so was able to give good, honest examples for all interview questions. I think that's what did it.
Can anyone else offer any brief CVs to help get a picture of the successful candidates?
This isn't about boasting though, just help everyone think about what they need to work on.

Big congratulations to those successful applicants, given the quality of competition, you thoroughly earned it. Commiserations to the rest of us, it's a blow, but remember BA must have liked you to get this far, so you have what it takes to get in at a future time.
For those unsuccessful, what are your plans? I personally am not going to hang around for the next FPP selection, I'm going to somehow fund my training, and try to get in as a DEP some years from now, heck BA might even be taking SSPs again when I'm done training, you never know what the future holds.
Good luck, keep trying, hard work prevails

(Probably because it's an "in house" publication I can't find a link to paste here - maybe somebody with better IT skills may be able to provide the same...it's a shame because it certainly a piece that may be if interest to many here) .

I have still not heard anything back since my coventry assessment. Everytime i contact BA they say they are still processing my application so having spoken to some 'contacts' they are apparently still sifting through applications for another batch of final interviews. Anyone else still not heard one way or another?

Congratulations to everyone that has a place on the FPP!
iFly: Don't feel too disheartened (I know it's easy for me to say being an outsider from the process...) but the two schemes were always going to attract the very best. I imagine some very strong candidates will not have made it. I would take a guess that some of the pilots at BA in their 40s would have been initally rejected from the BA cadet scheme 20 years ago, only to join later as a DEP later on. Very best of luck with whatever you are going to do next.

Congratulations.
Dear Friend,
I sincerely congratulate you for achieving such a mile stone in your career journey. I have read with alot of interest your post and felt touched by your personal especially when you mentioned that comparison with your mates in that interview day. That statement says alot about the inside of a person and I want to thank you for being in my opinion a simple guy.
Anyway, I did apply for this programme but I'm sorry to say I did not make it beyond that online application stage.
So, I have come to you with a big ask for your charity for access to your insight. I know it's such alot to explain but I could be more than happy with any information you could give me about the whole process starting with the online application itself.
I have to admit that when i have not accepted that only means I wasn't worthy alot at and in that way I can invest to succeed the next time round.
So, you would please be kind to send me an attachment of the copy of your application especially that part of the application questions; then the rest of the stages that followed after that and if you can the questions that were asked and how you answered then or how you crafted your answers the way you did; how long those sessions took and the numbers interviewed and the numbers on the panels?
I'm sorry I have such a tall order for you but in this is an appreciation of your ability and again a share of your success with me.

Heartfelt commiserations to all who weren't included on this occasion, especially our regular contributors. You did bl**dy well to get as far as you did considering the numbers that applied. Better luck next time.
Congrats to all that did. Best of luck with your course

Rejection yesterday, was expecting it...
I will be serving Pringles and Pepsi in an orange A319 for long again
Anyway I sincerely feel like I have to congratulate those successful people, because I've seen what this final stage looked like and they were expecting a very very high level of skills from us.
Congratulations again

I feel like I'm well placed to appreciate the mood on both sides of this feed today. My ambition had always been to fly with BA and I barely dared to dream of a successful outcome to yesterday. I applied to Aer Lingus also as it could do no harm. I got that rejection email yesterday as it happens after not making it past the initial stage at Dublin. As far as the BA application went, I went to the first stage with the FTO and got rejected. A long depressing drive home followed and a week of considering how I could still achieve my dream so I know how the vast majority of you feel at the moment. I booked onto an ATPL ground school course to go it alone before my FTO called a couple of weeks later saying they had changed their minds. A long story short I went all the way after that. Congratulations to all those successful. To those who weren't, it won't be your only opportunity.

Congratulations to all of you who got in. I can still remember vividly how excited I was getting accepted for the cadet scheme in 1990, but as some have cautioned, the hard work starts NOW. It's hard work but good fun, but you still have to pass so make sure you get the work done.
To those of you who didn't get accepted this time, commiserations. That doesn't have to be the end of it so keep applying! Your experience of the selection process will stand you in good stead next time.
To those of you who did get through I am currently in the process of applying to be a Cadet Liaison Officer for you guys so, all things being well, I might have the chance to meet some of you personally in the near future!

A belated hello to everyone on PPRuNe.
I'm one of the lucky ones with a place on the FPP. Delighted and surprised to be accepted, not least because I am 35.
Commiserations to anyone who didn't get through the last stage, it was certainly a tough day with some serious competition (err... and me).
The waiting continues - this time for BA to release the dates we can start the training.

Hi PPRuNers,
I'm thrilled to be one of the lucky 90. I thought I had messed up the computer testing at BrainCrank, although my interview went well. I have had minimal flying training and I suspect that at 31 I'm one of the older recruits. I have good A-levels and a degree but nothing outstanding. Been self-employed for nearly 10 years, doing something completely unrelated to aviation. Hope this information is of interest to those who are thinking of applying for the next wave of FPP. Best of luck if you do!
