And Swatson. You're obviously very academic. However, there were specific instructions not to discuss your application.
Is that not exactly what you have just done?

Please do not criticize other posters.

I'm out of the running now though, so there's no reason not to discuss my application. I think it's completely unreasonable not to be provided with a breakdown of my scores.

Lucifer, the email simply states my scores, nothing more. I didn't go in with a game plan, I was myself and felt everything went very nicely, yet scored poorly in the discussions, yet for the team exercises and interview I did great. I'm just saying it's hard to know how I can improve, and I find it a little baffling.

Plus any influx of type-rated guys from BMI would reduce the need for new pilots on the Airbus fleet which is what FPP is mainly aimed at. This could lead to most cadets getting Gatwick based 737 jobs.
I disagree, I don't think you can assume any surplus of A320 rated BMI pilots would automatically go to the BA LHR SH fleet. I think if you bring all the BMI hulls into BA the total crewing requirement for them might only be reduced a little. If this were the case then there could be a small amount of experienced and rated BMI guys surplus to requirements. The FPP program is meant to draw half its requirement from cadets and half from DEP's. I think its more likely that any extra BMI pilots would fill DEP FPP places rather than cadet ones, in which case the requirement for cadets might only reduce a little.

@chimox

Considering they are now doing stage 4 interviews at Heathrow I expect that if you haven't even heard if your stage 1 application has been successful then it is a no.

Does seem strange that you have not yet received a rejection as these seem have been sent out over the past few weeks.

The same here (CTC). I have applied only a few days before the window has been closed and I still hope that they cope with the applications in the order they have recieved them...

Anyway, it is suspicious they did not bother to send at least an rejection e-mail...

Hate to have been right and sorry for all unsuccessful. I remember there was an earlier poster ridiculed for abstaining from selection due to considering it was an applicant funded marketing ploy by the ever eager FTO's. Unfortunately it looks like he was the wise one with no effective feedback other than please come and give us your custom....................

Good luck to those that have got to the real selection at Cranebank - hopefully BA are still paying expenses and you don't have to shell out further for their recruitment needs..............

Good Morning All,

The charging of a fee to the FTO is perfectly understandable. What is very surprising is the lack of quantifiable feedback on one’s respective aptitude score. In the interests of transparency one would hope the FTO’s would provide all candidates who sat the test - whether successfully or not - a simple print out of their performance.

The UK military do this and it allows candidates at a glance to see what their strengths/weaknesses are and the required pass mark. More importantly if a candidate has a marginal score it also allows them to decide whether a future application is worth pursuing – a fairly important decision if one has to pay a further £200 to repeat the process…

...or maybe that's the idea

Feedback from FTOs

Hello everyone,

I can say from experience that CTC will always provide detailed feedback from their assessment days. However they will only do so if unsuccessful candidates take the time to reflect on their performance on the day and think about where they may have had deficiencies. They will also only send out feedback when they have the available resources to review unsuccessful candidates. For the wings cadet assessment prior to the announcement of the FPP this process took around 5 weeks. With the extra workload from the FPP process, as well as the continued wings selection it is likely to take far longer.

I cannot speak for OAA or FTE but it would not surprise me if they employed a similar policy. For those waiting to get feedback I would encourage them to be patient, it probably will be provided but most likely not until after the end of the FPP selction process in mid December.

Re feedback – looks like OAA will only supply this if we accept their invite to the 3rd day tests in lieu of self sponsorship. Unfortunately as airlines only seem to want novices or ATPLs with multiple hours on heavy aircraft, I can't see the value in self sponsorship, especially as we've just been unsuccessful at exactly the type of interview we would have to pass.

Re applying next year - had OAA left a few days grace for the “regrettables” to apply for EasyJet, we could have used their definitive yes or no to guide our career decisions. Currently I still don't know whether the 10 years it would have taken me to break even financially under FPP is a risk worth taking.

Another factor (usual BA 12 month recruitment rule permitting) is my hope that the successful candidate's publicity shots won't confirm my fears that BA want people who are bold, loud and wrong. When I've assessed team games in the past it's always been the people who get the right answer on the day who go on to get the right answer in the job.

Guess we'll know the risks the possible BMI, TAP, Finnair, Lan and Cathay mergers pose by the time of the next recruitment window. I'd be happy to fly an A320 out of Santiago for a few years if Heathrow was full, but Kingfisher round India would be too hot.

Those in the know, please post details of any new airline sponsored training schemes you spot.

To the lucky few currently being assessed at Heathrow, we look forward to hearing from you once it's all over.

I don't think anyone needs to say that actually Roger!!!!! I don't read that any of the posters have complained - merely stated facts that they've been relieved of £200 in return for no solid evidence they were subject to an assessment procedure of full transparency and fairness across the board. Not an issue when the recruiter is footing the bill, though when the applicant is then they deserve to know they've shelled out for a meaningful exercise so I'm on their side.

The fact your getting wound up about not getting feed back for your 200 quid leads me to suspect your not going to find the experience of the general embuggerance of working with crewing and ops and all the others that have an effect on your life a very pleasant one. You will never get transparency in this industry, the management won't and don't give it to there employees and the pilots certainly don't give it to the management.

To be honest I suspect that this scheme might backfire quite spectacularly for integrated schools. The folk that have gone for the scheme will include most of the punters that would have gone that way self financed. Now they will be pissed off with the whole setup once knocked back. Added to that fact there was always the hint if BA started recruiting again if you don't come to us you won't have a look in. Now even if you do and your not one of the select few you have no chance anyway.

I suspect the feedback thing may resolve itself when they realise that the self financed students numbers start dropping from what they would have expected from the numbers going through.
