Just curious, but what is the Polar reasoning that there will be no merger now? Consolidation would be even more financially advantageous at this point to continue the merger. Look at the near bankrupt companies of NWA and Delta that merged to save themselves.

What a friend from Polar had told me is that the FAA (not sure they can make these decisions) said that they won’t allow a dual certificate operation, where pilots can fly on either certificate. This is apparently due to potential CRM issues. This is just what I have heard from him.

That is BS. It comes from a rumor of a misinterpretation of what one FAA guy is supposed to have said at a check airman meeting last January.

Question Beaver

I have never, and I repeat never, have heard you say positive things about our polar brothers when it's just us guys talking. Now you sound like you can't wait to work with them. What's up?

Nitty, What more financial advantage do you see from consolidation? We already share publications, HR, payroll, etc. We will still have separate dispatch, DO's, CP's etc.

I think the intent is to have any Pilot fly any Plane, that is where the real staffing saving are.

That is not what Continental/Air Mike were granted from the FAA.
Why would the Feds grant AAWW what they wouldn't grant to CO?

I think it actually is what the FAA granted to CO/Air Micro. I understand that the reason an Air Micro pilot cannot fly for Micro one day, CO the next, then back to Micro is contractual not FAR/FAA. Perhaps a CO pilot can correct me. As I understand the MOCT (Multiple Operating Certificate Training) program, you can jump from one certificate to the other at any time. Why is this so difficult to understand? The aircraft are the same, the training programs and manuals are the same....

So any rumors on Pilot Furloughs? Any guess on the number, the same as FE's 24?

All the junior FO's happen to be -400 FO's, maybe that will make the date a bit later, if it takes some time to train the -200 guys.

Exactly it's no different than jumping off an Emirates flight and taking off on another with a Lufthansa call sign or even a RCH for that matter.

It escapes me why the vocal minority resist the merger?

The deal is simple, In 8 days it won't matter what any of the Polar crews think because on the 19th both MEC's are nullified and the new IBT takes over with new people and a fresh start.

Contract and consumated merger around September of next year is my best guess with the BS put to bed once and for all.

Anybody that says the merger is off does'nt know what they are talking about.

When you jump off that Emirates flight and onto the flight with the Lufthansa call sign you are jumping from a flight operated under the Atlas certificate to another flight operated under the Atlas certificate. That is not the case when you jump from any Atlas flight to any Polar flight. Different operating certificates! That may be no big deal to you but it is to the Feds.

I'm counting the minutes.

This water should have passed under the bridge a LONG TIME AGO.

Are you sure Poalr will be under IBT in a few days? It seems to me that right now Polar is seperate from Atlas and will not be merged for a while. Until that day how can the IBT represent Polar when Polar clearly voted to keep ALPA?

Because the NMB declared that they are a single carrier. The company says they are a single carrier, and ALPA did not oppose it.

Single carrier, two different operating certificates, two different contracts. Will the IBT enforce the Polar contract until such time there is one contract and one crew force?

My answer would be "of course". For legitimate issues, like the FE's being furloughed out of seniority. Other BS, like Polar owns all the flying in the world, will not float.

If the Polaroids do in fact ALL vote ALPA, well, no telling how they'll be treated for awhile.

Whale . . . . what a crock of "poop" to make a statement like that. Whatever happened to letting things go and moving on. So what -- now you want to threaten those of us that voted ALPA????

Seems to me this is one reply that needs to be documented to prove that it's unsafe to operate with you guys. I feel threatened and can't operate an aircraft safely if I'm always watching my back because I voted ALPA.

Maybe I voted a different way in our United States Election, too. Should I be watching my back on the street.

I think it's time for your nap and you need a time out. Oh and you're grounded, too. GROW UP!
