Computer does not hook up to internet

3) ping 192.168.0.102 - request timed out - 4x
In a post above you said that 192.168.0.102 was the address of your PC - yet you now find that you can't ping it????
In another post you have the laptop with 192.168.0.102!!!!
If 2 nodes on the network have the same IP address you are going to have problems.
You haven't indicated what happens when you ping www.pprune.org
What happens if you connect your laptop to the router with the LAN cable and switch off the wireless adapter? What IPCONFIG /all settings do you get? Can you access the internet from the laptop?

Very odd that the laptop configuration has 192.168.0.1 as the DNS server.

From the DI624 manual:
Set the Primary DNS to be the same as the LAN IP address of your router (192.168.0.1).
The Secondary DNS is not needed or enter a DNS server from your ISP.

Would help if you can answer the outstanding question "what happens if you ping www.pprune.org" ... seems to me that the PC is connected to the internet and can ping PPRuNe's IP address but isn't going to ping PPRuNe's URL as the DNS server is incorrectly set.
What happens if you run your browser and then enter the address http://213.161.73.143 ... does that get you to PPRuNe?
Given that everything seems to be set to Automatic, need to understand how that 192.168.1.9 got into the DNS Server entry ... think it's wrong.

However if they are both set up for DHCP and used one at a time then the DHCP server could legitimately have given them both 192.168.0.2 at different times without any conflict occurring.

Hmmm ... confusing.
Can't get away from thinking that DNS entry 192.168.1.x isn't going to work.
But can't think where it could be hard coded ... especially as this was all working until recently.

Let me try and answer your questions/comments a bit at a time:

Actually the IPCONFIG /all I sent from my laptop was hooked up to the router with the cable as I thought this would have been more pertinent. Do you need see the laptop without the Ethernet cable hooked up and only wireless?

If you meant to do a "ping" then it states "Ping request could not find host http://213.161.73.143. Please check the name and try again."

You may find that PPRuNe (or part of it) appears ... in which case you are actually connected to the Internet but cannot resolve URLs (which is what DNS does). Alternatively the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" message may remain?
As a double check, try the same test with http://66.102.9.104 which is the IP address for Google.

Okay, and what when you enter the PPRuNe or Google IP addresses into your browser?
(even though it's giving the "cannot display" screen ... ignore that)

I tried "diagnosing connection" via Network Diagnostics for Win XP and it states:
"There might be a problem with your modem and/or router. Turn off your modem and/or router. Check all of the cables between the modem and/or router and the phone or cable jack to assure they are plugged in."
Well I had tried all of this previously and my laptop works with the cable directly from the router so what now?

Release and renew your DHCP address - perhaps that will reset the correct DNS server.
IPCONFIG /RELEASE, then do IPCONFIG /RENEW.
If that fails, try setting the DNS server entry into your PC manually - 192.168.0.1, as per the laptop.
Please do a ping to www.pprune.org from a command window - the key question is whether or not it resolves the name to an IP address.

On the HTTP / FTP Diagnostics, I get the same error message for HTTP, HTTPS and FTP as it states: Error 12007 connecting to www.microsoft.com. The server name or address could not be resolved.
In addition it states that it could not make either an HTTP, HTTPS nor an FTP connection.
On the IP Configuration it states that: Valid IP address detected 192.168.0.101
Don't know if the above helps

I just made a mistake and clicked on "unsubscribe" on the email so hopefully someone can help me here.

Have ye tried rebooting the router?
I have the same router and sometimes it needs a reboot although it's usually the wireless side which stops working for me.
After you reboot the router, reboot your PC.
Assuming you haven't already done it of course, it would be the first thing I'd try.

After you reboot the router, reboot your PC.
I have unplugged both cable modem and router from power and left them off for a few minutes without any difference, besides my laptop is running off the router so it is my desktop.
I have also changed cables to no avail.
