OK, I'm sorry but I am starting to get really impatient. Where are all the other fix-termers out there? Does anyone else think that now that the EBA has been reached that Qantas will call in the next few days? One of my friends came up with that theory!

Hello All...

It is interesting that the EBA has been approved and still we haven't heard anything but then again I am not too suprised. I think that QF will have us waiting longer than the 31st of December too.

I would also like to ask how many fix-termers were actually interviewed as a Language Specialist and then told; 'Congratuations you can be a 3 month Strike Breaker!'?? I think that the Language guys and girls were the ones that truely were screwed because we all went through the Coward St interviews and tests, etc to given the shocking offer. I did the training during my annual leave continually hoping that the strike didn't go ahead.

ANYWAYS>>> The most important thing that I am concerned with is when do we get paid??? Merry Christmas!!

Hi !!!!!!

Just remember that QF have a lot of other things that they're trying to work out with other people as well at the moment, not just the strikebreaker fixed termers.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you are just not a priority to Qantas. You served your purpose and you are no longer required so QF will contact you when and if they feel it appropriate. Maybe they will bestow on you the same luxury they bestowed on the people waiting for 18 months or more only to be told thanks but not thanks.

GalleyHag, you seem really bitter. Don't act like the 3-month fix-termers are below everyone else. Initially we didn't go through the same interview process but my assessment day went for 6 hours. Also we did the training, you didn't. So it is hard to go and do all the training, go on the aircraft, learn about the aircraft, do the exams and everything else. And then be told NO. We all got a taste for it and wanted it even more. So, please don't put us down for wanting to know what's going on because we deserve to know what is going on as much as the next person.

Bit sensitive aren't we Midnight-63!! Good Luck in the UK and good on you for getting a "permanent" job on the otherside of the world.

amongthestars

Im not bitter at all, far from it, in fact im starting 2005 as QF cabin crew better then ever.

I personally feel the 3 month contractors are certainly below me (cant speak for anyone else). I have zero respect for strike-breakers and always will.

But I wish you all the best in 2005.

You and me both GalleyHag.
I got scr***d by QF, but at least the job I applied for was legit and not one that would undermine the conditions that us FA's have worked & fought hard for.
Sorry, but I don't have any respect for the 3 month contractors oops STRIKEBREAKERS. I do feel for the ones that didn't know what they were getting themselves into, but for the ones like Parisflyer who stated they would be more than happy to work through a strike, you'll forever be a scab.
I didn't get the job with QF that had me on a list for 15 months, had me go through 3 interviews, pay for my own security clearance, medical & drug test.
The reason I didn't get that job was the london base & now the "contractors" are moving in and taking the jobs that should have been mine and all the other shortlisters who applied for the real jobs, had real interviews and would have had REAL training and been given real uniforms.
Bitter? You bet.

to cart tart

Just remember that we are all striving for the same goal, and your nastiness is not helping anyone. Maybe this side of you, that we are seeing now, is something that came across in your interview. I know I wouldn't want to be stuck in a team with people like you and galleyhag. I have worked really hard to get where I am today. Stop making the 3 month Fixed termers out to be 3rd class citizens. I'm sorry you never got a job while on the short-list, but you had your chance and now it's ours. Qantas has spent lots of money on us because they think that we are worth it. And to Galleyhag just like to let you know that we are priority, and I know that for a fact. I wish all the fixed termers luck with their new positions, especially Midnight-63! First Class Paris, here you come!

"I'm sorry you never got a job while on the short-list, but you had your chance and now it's ours."
No she didn't. If Cart Tart, like most of us who were on the ORIGINAL short list, had a chance, she would be employed now. Unfortunately, SARS and Iraq saw that end for all of us, in conjunction with a later push to secure bureaucratic goings on at QCCC.

"Qantas has spent lots of money on us because they think that we are worth it."
BZZZZZZZZZT - WRONG! They've spent money on you for THEIR sake, and no one elses. NEVER, I repeat...

NEVER for a MOMENT think that in this industry, and particularly in an airline that is as profit driven as Qantas, that YOU - either as individual employee or prospective candidate - are EVER a priority. The world has changed as has the industry (for the worse, in my opinion).

YOU WERE EMPLOYED FOR ONE SINGLE TASK - STRIKE BREAKING LABOUR. THAT is why as many were recruited, and as a result, many have failed to fly to this date.

"And to Galleyhag just like to let you know that we are priority, and I know that for a fact."
Oh really? Out of idle curiosity, what employment (apart from the 3 month stint in King Gees) has been offered to you? Don't tell me...Permanent Full Time perhaps? Cause surely if you WERE a priority, that's what Qantas would naturally give you, no?

"I wish all the fixed termers luck with their new positions, especially Midnight-63! First Class Paris, here you come!"
I too wish all the fixed termers luck in whatever comes their way. I'm sure they will get everything they deserve.

Att: Cart Tart. Hearing you babe. Oh, and don't worry about feeling bitter. There are many other individuals like you and me out there - some are even more bitter and angry than you about the way we were treated.[

I don't wish to go into details about what positions have or will be offered. But as we know midnight-63 got offered London which is FULLTIME. I don't know why you lot just can't be happy for us. You act like you have been so hard done by. Hello, we did the assessment day, we did the training, we did the exams, we did the panel interviews, we passed medicals. No different to everyone else.Qantas doesn't have any obligations to hire us. If anything they have probably found this whole experience the best interview ever.

Can't we just all be friends?

I think that there are too many emotions to be all addressed here but from my point of view...

In my opinion....It is true that the standards were dropped dramatically for the 3 month contract. BUT, there were also people in there that went through the normal interview process involving a panel interview with online cabin crew, that found out what we were doing as the time progressed.

I seriously think that QF knew that only a small amount of people that had !!!! jobs to leave, no job at all or a flexible work would have gone ahead and done the strike breaking.

I think the offer is going to be for the ones that nailed the last panel interview only!! But if you have any more information please let us know!

I know that there were ex-qf link now jq staff at my interviews and they have received a letter just recently saying... unfortunately at this time.... let you know... blah blah.

As for the can't we be friends.... yeah, sure as long as you don't let everyone know that you were a strike breaker!

"Can't we just all be friends?"

Are you self-interested, narcissistic, mercenary lowlife completely and utterly delusional???????

You saw nothing but self interest and an opportunity to fly, by aggreeing to undermine the bargaining position and therefore working conditions of thousands of existing longhaul cabin crew.

You and your type are, and will always be, the lowest of the low.

SCABS....................How can you even look people in the eye...............?

"But as we know midnight-63 got offered London which is FULLTIME."
Uh...midnight-63 got offered a Full Time position working for Qantas Cabin Crew UK on inferior terms and conditions compared to Australian Crew. I believe the term is 'overseas slave labour'. And if you don't believe me, read the Amicus agreement vs. FAAA agreement (240 hours anyone)?

That aside, of course, I'm not begrudging midnight-63 their moment in the sun. What I do begrudge (and not for me personally I might add), is that many others before him (like cart-tart) weren't given the SAME opportunity, having been considered 'successful' only months before!

"I don't know why you lot just can't be happy for us. You act like you have been so hard done by.
Happy? Hard DONE BY?

Let's break THAT one down:
* Hundreds of people on a shortlist are told 'thanks but no thanks cause you've been waiting too long' having gone through JUST AS AN EXHAUSTING & EXPENSIVE selection process as you have.

* Long Haul crew fight to prevent overseas bases opening up willy nilly over the world - while STRIKE BREAKERS put their hands up for the job (and yes, I admit, some weren't as informed or aware as much as others).

* Once the strike is averted, the new STRIKE BREAKERS are offered (in some cases) a London base position.

SO - you have someone that's been around for maybe 3-6 months getting a position over someone who was waiting 12-15 months for same!

Sure - that's business and that's life.

BUT YOU CANNOT EXPECT people to feel GLAD that others have been offered what one may reasonably assume to be rightfully theirs, as you continually point out, when they've gone through such a full on assessment.

"Hello, we did the assessment day, we did the training, we did the exams, we did the panel interviews, we passed medicals. No different to everyone else."
Ohhhh...you know what? So did we. We attended as many interviews and spent money on the medicals and security checks (unlike some in this recent round of strike-breaker recruiting).

We didn't, however, have the chance to attend training in the middle of the night wearing King Gees. Some may argue we got the better deal.

"If anything they have probably found this whole experience the best interview ever."
Best interview ever? What, people leaving the seminars mid-stream because they find out it's for strike-breaking? In droves I might add?

Strike breakers running to the media to complain (quite rightly) about the underhand 'waterfront' tactics of training?

How does paying people for work they'll never do amount to 'best interview ever', particularly if what Crop Dust has said has truth in it??

"Can't we just all be friends?"
Sure we can - provided you don't endorse strike-breaking.

Ps. Jettlager - consistent as ever!
