Thats great news!

A few questions though. What does YCL stand for? and Dont Qantas recruit BFirst Flight attendants from existing crew who have experience.

Thanks

I think what 604chic means is that the guys on the 11 month contracts have been offered the London Base starting on 13 Feb.

These staff already have experience and thats why some of them will be working in First & Business Class.

Maaaate...where is my head of late???

Thanks ozskipper - that's what I meant.

Perhaps I should ask you to be my translator!

Anyway, yep, another handful of us have been offered the roles we applied for.

All to be over there toute de suite!

Maybe that is what is making my head spin!

Cheers!

qf

Has anyone else been told that we have to wait til the end of the year to find out whether or not we were successful in the MAM/Sydney panel interviews? So sick of my current job! I guess all we can do is be patient. After reading some of the posts on the EK thread, I have realised that good things do come to those who wait, so am trying to keep positive...but don't want to get my hopes up either. Well at least they havn't said no yet......thats something, isn't it????

Amongthestars!

Were you interviewed for a position with MAM second time round, when the strike was called off?

If you find out by the end of this year if you were successful does that mean they will have training classes soon? I am on a short list and can't wait to be called up for training!!!

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Cheers

I am a fixed termer and we got interviewed for jetconnect/mam at the same time. We were supposed to find out this week if we were successful with either, but now they have delayed it to the end of the year. I think the training starts January some time.

Thats good news!

Well as I said I'm on a short list with MAM from the last round of recruitment. I couldn't start training straight away due to other commitments. But now I'am free and ready to start ASAP!!! I wonder if they might call me to start training with you guys??

amongthestars,

How do you know training will be in January for these positions?? I've heard nothing mentioned about any sort of training.

Cheers

rejection email

I just opened my email to find my rejection email! After 12 weeks and 3 reference checks (that were fine). Has anyone else who was interviewed in September for Qantas Long Haul Contract been contacted for training or told they were not needed?

Thumbs down QF

That's Qantas for you!

Sorry to hear you have also gone through all that to come out with nothing.

Thats why today I returned an e-mailed invitation to a Jet* assessment (application withdrawn)

Not going through that scatar again and again and again ENOUGH!

For all those that dont know, WA now officially stands for Wait Awile (as opposed to Western Australia...)

Had a call from QF recruitment, asking me to come in for a panel interview (actual words were you have been sucessful past the asesment day, and we would like to offer you a panel interview... haha) this Wednesday. It will be held at the Perth Terminal, and be conducted by 2 Flight Attendants.

So there is movement in the West at last! The really nice lady also said they are snowed under at the moment, with a skeleton staff, and a number of recruitment drives happening.

My best wishes for all that havent been sucessful, and best of luck for the future. You can rest easy knowing that your excellent skills will be taken advantage of by another employer, what appears as your loss is actually Qantas'

Keep smiling! I know I am...

Thanks all for the good wishes, but I must protest, there are people out there that have waited, did wait, and are still waiting much longer then me!

In answer to your question WG, the panel interview is allegedly for a Long Haul shortlist, but the lady stressed that other positions will be spoken about. So from another comment she (mistakenly?) dropped, this sounds very similar to the panel interviews that you all in the east had, bit like a career chat if you will, so they can work out where you want to go in the company, and where the company would like you to go

Lets hope its not much different to the panel interviews I have already done, and the ones all you helpful people have shared experience with!

It is 2 QANTAS cabin crew doing the interview, not Adecco as the MAM panel was, so maybe that will bring a differnt light of experiemce to the process. Who knows? I cant prepare any more for this then I already have, so they have to take me as I am!

Bye for now, will fill you all in when I am back tomorrow from the interview. Hopefully somebody will know something!

Merry Christmas! too many retail sales hours at the moment.... :P

I wonder when I will find out from QF when they're gonna recruit, like they goddamn well promised me after they took me off the shortlist I'd been on for 15 months - NOT 18 like they tried to tell me.
Maybe they should be offering panel interviews/shortlist postions to people that have already been assessed as being suitable for the job. They've already checked our references, we've had our drug tests, medicals, and security clearances. Oh and mind you WE had to pay for them too.

Congrats jb!!! Fingers crossed for you!!

If you happen to be going past the Black & White taxis building on your way home, do a happy dance so we know you got the job

CT,

I think this is just another case of management not knowing a good thing when they see it... I have seen from some of your posts that you have been waiting....and waiting.... (and it seems waiting some more)... this may sound cliched but it'll happen when you least expect it!!! You come across as someone who is generally happy and concerned about others.... don't take it personally.... however you have every right to be angry with them if they are not delivering what they promised....

have you tried other airlines as well? i am not sure what sort of flying you want... i did notice that staffcv now has Air national (NZ exec charter), they are preferring those with previous CC experience.... you sound like someone they'd look at....

anyway i'll stop rambling now, good luck with everything CT, hang in there

and...go jb!!!

CT!

I was on the same shortlist as you, but was offered casual, i know of a few people that were called and offered casual as well but rejected it because they "were waiting for full time", they have also been taken off the shortlist. Were you offered anything at all? I hear that there they will be putting more casuals into Perth?

OK Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls (anyone ever wondered why they put Boys before girls in that sentance? Hmm... a Topic for Jet Blast perhaps!)

Here is the lowdown on what I now know... It will be contained within these brackets: ( )

OK, in all seriousness... the panel was just a normal one, no surprises there!

They were running late, apologised due to "Some really chatty people they have had so far today!" When time came to ask questions I got that they are simply filling a short list now from the initial fixed term bunch that were interviewed, and I will know if I have progressed at the end of January.

Also offered to note any preference I had for MAM, who they said were looking for crew, where as the Long Haul were simply looking for a shortlist of people. I said I had already interviewed and paneled for MAM, and they made a note that I would be OK to be offered that.

All in all, not verry enlightening, not sure how many from Perth they interviewed today (about 9 names max on the schedule sheet I could see).

So roll on January. Hopefully my MAM file will bring a job offer in the new year!

Good luck to everyone else!

JB

JB!

It's good to hear that the panel went well. I wonder if they will send you down to Sydney for training in January with the Sydney or Melbourne trainees? (if there will be training in Syd that is)??? Rumour has it that there may be training classes in January.

when's payday?

Does anyone know when we start getting paid? And has anyone been told yes or no, who have gone to the panel interviews in Sydney?
