I start April 26th now, LHR EF. So far so good, everyone at BA been brilliant, just have to hope that my references and Disclosure Scotland thing goes smoothly and without and drama!

hello everyone
have recently been offered a place on BA training course for 28 June 2004. I have been reading the posts on here with interest and have found them to be very helpful in putting my mind at rest at certain aspects of the course etc etc.
One thing that does concern me however is the rumour re: offer letter and contracts. I am very reluctant to hand my notice in before i have received one of these two!!! Has anybody else contacted HR about this and found that they will fax you something??
Also my company that I presently work for pays for my shoes and as Im allowed some now I thought i would get one last pair out of them to use when I start at BA... only thing is will I need Navy or black as I know the uniform is changing?
Im scared like hell at the thought of changing jobs again. But if the people i met at the interview are anything to go by then Im sure it will fine....
Look forward to meeting some of you when i eventually hit the skies (thats if i pass the course!!).

congratulations and wellcome.now regarding the colour of shoes,am assuming you are female,therefore with the current uniform you will need blue.the new uniform is supposedly being phased in from 13/04 and as you would expect with 13000 cabin crew will take sometime but in answer to your question i think its safe to assume you will probably need the blue ones.
i started flying with ba 20 years ago and i remember being in the same predicament regarding handing in my notice without written confirmation from ba ,they did not do it then and as far as i am aware they still don't .if they offer you the job over the phone i shouldn't worry to much about it but if you really aren't happy just give them a ring and tell them of your concerns

I've made it through the assesment and I'm awaiting a start date, but I was over-organised (!) and already have my CRC Disclosure back.
Thing is, I'm told it is only valid for 6 weeks, and I think it is unlikely I will get a start date before then! This means I will have to reapply. Any experts on the CRC Disclosures out ther who can confirm this please??

Hi there everyone!
I've got an interview with BA next month and I wondered if anyone knows if it's possible to go straight into Long-Haul?
They obviously don't specify what the position is on the internet and when I spoke to personnel, they said that they have a long internal waiting list, but that it is possible to go directly into Long-Haul.
I currently fly domestic and European routes with another airline and I don't think I'd want to move companies just to visit the same old places!
Does anyone have any advice for me?

April 26th Course
Hi,
First of all, is anyone out there on the April 26th Course. I was told it was LHR, but no one else seems to have heard of it, so I hope it is LHR and not LGW.

Does that mean that you have to wait until you complete your initial training with the company before finding out whether you will be chosen for WW or EF?
Don't get me wrong, it would be fantastic to be offered a job with a company as established as British Airways, I just feel that I'd like to know in advance whether I would be flying Long or Short Haul!

KTpops.... when I attended my interview in February they gave an indication then what they were recruiting for and it was heavily leaning towards Heathrow/Gatwick Eurofleet.... I then got a letter stating I had been successful and that I was in a holding pool about 10 days after the interview. About a month or so later BA called me and gave me a start date and I asked them which fleet it would be for and sure enough it was Euro fleet. Having said that my boyfriend applied last year for what he thought was Heathrow Euro and then after accepting the position and got through his offer letter he was actually on Gatwick Long haul. I think when they call you and offer you a training date you should make sure you ask them.... I had to ask twice as im the opposite to you as only wanted short haul.... Anyway Good Luck!

Word on the street, guys and gals, is that all future recruitment will be for EuroGatwick. I would be quite surprised if any further recruitment was done for LGWWW as I have a number of colleagues from my training course who are being rostered Standby blocks lasting weeks on end. I think they maybe over-recruited?!?!
I think that it would be a shame for anyone to turn down the job just because they were offered EFLGW. Sure, it's not the best, but in all honesty, you can earn reasonable money there. The routes are kinda nice and it's a really small and friendly bunch of crew.

I suppose its possible in the six weeks following my disclosure I could commit an unspeakable crime which is why I guess they give it an expiry, so they can check again I havent been a bad girl!
But yep, bummer, subject to my 5 year referencing I could start tomorrow, I came out of work in January and I am desperate for the income. I don't want to work anywhere else so I'll have to hang on in there until I'm called!! Fingers crossed I dont have to start selling my body first!
See that girl selling the Big Issue outside Terminal 4? (with her hair in a pleat and full make up on) Thats me!! lol
Spare any change gov'?

I'd give BA a call on the 0870 60 80 747 number. I applied the second day of posting Cabin Crew back in Aug/Sep of last year, but didn't interview until February of this year!
Anyway, they called me up and offered me May or June. However due to my contract ending at my current airline, I subsequently called them back a few weeks later and explained to them I could start earlier, and when I called them up they took a message and got one of the 'cabin crew' recruitment people to call me back. They offered me an earlier date in April (which they just reconfirmed with me today, yay!).
I've found everyone to be supernice and helpful, so maybe if you give them a call and explain your situation...? I know that most of the people who actually answer the calls are in general recruitment, and so you may have to be a little bit persistent (in the nicest most friendly way of course!) to speak to someone dealing with Cabin Crew course dates specifically.
There are (apparently) still some spaces on the May and June LHR EF courses so you never know. Good luck!

BA Interview HELP!!!!
British Airways Interview! I Need some help!!!
Hello everyone,
I've got an interview with British Airways May 6th.
I was wondering if anyone could help me on what the format is?What should I expect from the interview... I know some companies in the UK have math tests is this also true of BA? Are the tests hard? What type of questions should I expect?
One more thing, anyone know of any cheap places to stay in the area of the interview?

I may be wrong, but i believe BA still have some type of group interview - to see you work/interact with other people - during this they are mainly trying to weed out those that are A)overbearing , B) Don't participate at all !!
Then you may have a 1 to 1, or 1 to 2 interview which may last 20-30 minutes or so.....
I know for a fact that they are looking for people who will join the airline with a high level of commitment (regardless of fleet which everyone always wants to know) , and also who works well with people and if they've flown previously will not keep rattling on about former work experiences/positions and so on...... !
The maths questions are relatively simple, but you should be able to do multiple exchange rate conversions in your mind at a reasonably fast pace . . . . you may be on a quick flight where there is no duty free computer and you have to serve people pretty efficiently.
Relax though,most of the interviewers are crew and realise people are nervous!

i had my interview last wednesday and i got a letter yesterday saying i been succesful, but not training courses at the moment, thats means im i hold.
so go there be your self, relax and enjoy your future flight!!!!
about accomodation there is a lot of hotels in the bath road, i believe the cheaper is ibis or holiday in.

UpInTheSky - Interview is exactly how EAF says.
Just be yourself, be aware of whats going on around you.
Your two to one interview is mainly about your background and experiences you have encountered. So providing you have been out in the big bad world a few times, you'll be fine!!

When I spoke to the BA recruiting team 2 weeks ago they said they were going to send me some information along with some paperwork I needed to have completed before arriving for the interview via snail mail BUT I have yet to receive anything and I am getting worried since I am leaving for LHR next week...should I call them and have them send it to me via e-mail or should I wait a couple more days?

is the basic salary the same for EF LGW as it is for EF LHR?
does anyone know how feasible it will be to commute from NCL on EF LHR/LGW?

I had my interview May 7th....just wondering how long before BA informs you wether you got the job or not?
They said 1 week at the interview but I'm wondering if for me it will be longer since I'm in Canada?
Any information would be helpful...I am very anxious to find out and hopefully I will be flying soon!
