ps - so if there's been nothing seriously wrong that's affected previous jobs i doubt they'll bother to get medical records...i wouldn't like them seeing my records either actually...seems like a bit of invasion of privacy!!

Thank you so much MK 124; really helpful and informative - just like BA cabin crew!!! That's no problem then, I can cope with that! Do you know why they don't do actual medicals nowadays - probably cost/time I should think. I had a great time when I was flying and shall seriously consider re-applying. Many thanks.

Not sure but probably like you said...too much time and money! Not that i'm complaining though, don't think i'd like to have a full on medical!

Where are thinking of applying, gatwick or heathrow? All the best xx

In case anyone is a bit apprehensive about the medical maybe my experience will put your minds at ease.

I joined BA 16 years ago (Ok I know its a long time ago but the medical has improved since then a lot easier) and approx a year and a half prior to my medical I had been in a accident in which I had:

Fractured the two bones in my right arm.
Fractured my right elbow.
Fractured my neck.
Fractured my left leg.
Sustained a injury to my left knee.

And I got in!! Ok I had to get a Drs letter to say there would be no lasting ill effects (which thank god/allah/buddah to date there hasn't been!!)

So don't worry about the process its a lot easier these days.

There are certain conditions that will automatically exclude you from becoming cabin crew, if you want any advice in confidence pm me. The only reason I know is because I had to look into all of it before I submitted my application to BA because I wasn't sure it was worth me applying. But here I am 16 years later!!

I was based at LHR longhaul and it was brilliant, so if I re-apply, then maybe I would try for there. Would I be right in thinking that the six-month contracts are based at LHR? Much easier for me to get back to Wales without the hassle of the M25!! Are you based there? Longhaul? Thanks for all your previous help, and everyone else who contributed.

Hi there, yeah i think that anyone applying for LHR at the moment will be on a 6 month temp contact (longhaul). I've heard rumours also that you may be offered perm contacts at gatwick after the 6 months though.

I'll be based at gatwick (eurofleet)...not started yet though, my training starts on the 3rd April...can't wait!

I'm now in the process of sorting all my references out to make sure that they do reply to BA when contacted! It's such a headache!

Interview update - BA EF LGW

Hi Guys, Alot has been written about the basic interview day but I cannot find anything anyone who was recently interviewed has written by means of an update. Therefore could anyone who has recently been on the assessment day in the last few of months demonstrate all that team spirit you told your assessors you had and share your experiences with us wannabes please? What were you asked? What was the group discussion about? What got you the job? To those of you who did succeed not this time brush yourself and remember. Fight on. You are worth employing and will succeed!

The interview process

Hi,
I was interviewed back in September for the eurofleet at LGW. I choose to go to the early morning interview (I think this is a good option as everyone in the afternoon was of a similar younge age).

Got there and was very impressed by the place its self. Fairly small group of people (about 12) and we were then split into two. Whole group filled in forms then were tested to check we could strap into a crew seat.

I had my group session first. We were all sat around a table and were observed completing a task. Simple idea, chosing what to take with you when planning a group holiday but....... my suggestion to you is it is not the task its self but the way you interact. Get your points across but dont be pushy. Listen to others and try to involve everyone. Key phrase " You haven't said much rob what do you think?" "I think we should take the toilet paper, what do you think sarah", "how does everyone feel about taking the playing cards?".

We then had two to one interviews. For these you need plenty of examples of customer service specific. They actually made me feel very welcome and comfortable and I relaxed very quickley. I think the key here is to be yourself though doing a little back ground reading on the company would help when asked the question "so tell us what you know about BA". It is also important to know why you want to work for British Airways as opposed to other companies. Just saying I love to fly and I love customer contact is a bit wishy washy.

The day was rounded off with a presentation from a lovely lady. She was very honest in telling us the good and bad points of the company and also very funny. However at that p[oint you are so worried about the question you answered wrong that you arent really taking very much in !!!!!!

All in all it was one of the best interviews I went to. Professional yet friendly.

However.......I was confirmed the job back in september and kept in a holding pool. It was only last week that I was given a start date for my training course.

Good luck for the interview and feel free to email if you need anymore help. x x x

Hi,
Im on the same training course as you! I can't wait either though ive got some hard choices to make about my current job.

Reading back over some old reviews I am a bit worried about the eurofleet at LGW though. Have you heard anything bad about it? Everyone ive talked to in person has said im stupid not to take it.

I think the pay is ok but not sure about the trips. What the lady told me on the phone seems to be different to what people are saying on here?!

If you know more please help!

At the moment the trips are pretty pants but the crew are fantastic and remember, in a few months time you'll be doing mixed flying so you'll be jetting around the Caribbean and North America. It'll be a great base!!!!

Gatwick also benefits from a FABULOUS crew management team, from the Performance Execs (now ACCMs) to the Ops Desk team and the Duty Managers. The Fleet Manager is also a very nice lady who really, really cares about Gatwick as a base.

Thumbs up

Love2fly and MK124...welcome onboard!!!!!
I am sure you'll have a great time. My word. If you need any specific info please do not hesitate to pm me

Eddy...just one thing...what is ACCM? As far as I know we have duty managers and PM (performance managers). Our system is a bit different from LHR. Unless this ACCM is a new thing that nobody has told us about (which is possible).

Just one thing for all those ppl wishing to apply/accept an offer with BA....despite being a big, important company its recruitment process (people and procedures) is far from being perfect. The left hand rarely knows what the right is doing, so you might end up chasing up a few things. So do not feel bad or guilty if you are waiting for a call that is not coming and you end up calling them all the time....seen that SOOO many times. It's almost the norm.

Good luck everybody....

I think you'll find that the 6 month placements are for Worldwide at LHR. Good chance that at the end of it, you will be offered a permanent post at LGW Single Fleet. Well done!

just a few quick questions.

I have my assessment day on wednesday and will be driving to Cranebank, what is parking like there in the morning, and are there many options available?

Are they strict on the height/weight ratio? Although i`m not superly overweight, i`m worried that this may be a problem for me.

Hi glider, I can't help you with parking info,

but I can assure you, that if you fit into that jump seat of an A319 as I was told ??? then you'll be just fine. For height they use a laser measurement...My first time being measured like that

And above all....good luck, enjoy and be yourself....

Are you LGW or LHR?
