Thank you, I was definitely losing hope at times there so it's great to finally be in!
Both times they have called me it comes up as "unknown number"

Hi Mn64, have you received your medical email yet as I don't think anyone will get "golden call" without going for medical etc. I think you and I are at the same stage, ie waiting for medical email after active hold emails etc.

I submitted my ASIC on the 22/6, I then got an email for my medical on the 29/7 and I was able to schedule my medical for the 5/8 and then after that I received the same on hold email that most people on here received, and it was just a waiting process after that.

OMG, congrats!!!
So, your medical was done beginning of August... And it's mid October now! o.O
Hahaha, that sounds sooo bad for the rest of us who still didn't even receive the email to go on and do it!
I had lunch yesterday here in Dubai with a few QF crew currently here on a layover who I worked with before and they said there's been a lot of internal rumors that 'on hold' status will last for a longer time.
What they were told is that all of us 'active holders' , who are not through with medical, are meant to be utilized for the new aircrafts and those aren't coming for a while. Like I said, this is just a bit of crew gossip and I'm in no way saying that that is seriously the case, but just wanted to share it with the rest of y'all.

I know, right?! That's what I said!
Apparently, the ones crew is talking about are being delivered this time next year, so not necessarily 787.
That could easily mean they'd need to 'activate us' around cca. Feb-March, start training May-June and we'd be operational just in time for that.
I was listening thinking: 'oh, God, I sure hope you're all wrong'...
I kept asking about older crew and retirees but they said that is still not a big thing at all and there is a lot of senior crew who are loving their time under the old contracts and they want to stay as long as they can to boost their Super.
You know how it goes in any company: he says-she says. I took it into notice, but not gonna let it put me down.

Hi there, were you thinking of shifting to international afterwards? If so, I spoke to someone at my AD who had worked for Link for 6 years. She tried to get into international in the past and was unsuccessful. She said that she couldn't tell anyone at Link that she was applying, as they weren't allowed to. Not sure what that meant specifically, but I'm guessing they'd want to get their money's worth with the specific training.
I want to contribute the conversation about the transfer… If ur permanent part time or full time:
1) transfer within Qantas holding company is 3 months probation. (It means Qlink transfer to Qlink, Qantas Ground Service: fleet to baggage etc… and you don’t need to change the ASIC)
2) transfer within Qantas group is 12 months probation. And they will ask reference from ur current boss from Qantas.. ( I’m in QGS atm, and they called me last month to ask me to provide QGS reference)
3) any transfer will be exactly same process as you now except you are still working. However, my application is on hold at Xref stage… so i can’t speak of the steps afterwards.

Lol…. what I said is just by the book… However, if u have a awful boss and he/she won’t give you a good reference, you are going to nowhere… And another thing is the direct boss isn’t supervisor or performance manage or CSM that you saw everyday, you might be lucky saw he/she twice a year...

Hello All,
Well I got my golden call last week and am moving back from the middle east to Sydney for ground school Nov 16. Why is it so hard to find accommodation in Sydney? Anyone else moving to Sydney? Any ideas?
Thanks

Hey Everyone,
I have been following this forum since May this year when I applied.
Assessment day was 8th July 2016
ASIC completed 23/08/16
I've had 3 Active Hold emails - the most recent being on 12/10/16 so currently waiting on medical email. I have applied for Brisbane base for those interested. I've heard the November ground schools are the last for this year but assuming we could all hear shortly regarding Jan/Feb groundschools, hope so anyway!

Active hold list
Hi all,
Congrats to those of you who have received your golden call!! Good luck and keep us updated on your training ect.
I thought I'd update you all with my progress. I was sitting on Xref stage for about 2 months and received 3 internal processes emails within that time and have just now received an email putting me on active hold for up to 12 months. I am pretty devastated about the news but I truly beleive everything happens for a reason I'm sure it will work out with the best possible outcome.
Wishing you all the best of luck!!

As I were replying to kamikaze and Mn, I have received a not so good email about latest update on my application. It says that due to a high volume of applications , I will be placed in active hold list for up to 12 months . Should there be positions available , I will be contacted . If 12 months passes and there is no position then I may have to reapply . I feel so sad . I did not want to receive this after having been waiting for more than 5 weeks . . Congrats to everyone who managed to get a spot with QF . Ciao
Hey guys,
I am new to this but I thought I would let you know that I also got the same email. Its so upsetting but I am sure it will all happen in the new year for us
Just out of curiosity where are you both located? I am in Melbourne

Feeling pretty frustrated that they have pretty much interveiwed to many applicants. I feel like I did before I attended the AD, like I have a 50/50 chance of actually getting the position 😞

Thank you I attended an AD in Sydney in August and then my references the following day. It seems you are right Mn64, I think the people that got the email are all at the same stage.
