I got my phone call, too!! 6 months, Melbourne base, training likely in Sydney, likely mainline, unable to confirm anything just yet. Was offered 27th August or 17th October. I chose October. =D

So far my experience with Qantas recruitment has been really disappointing. I applied April 2017 and was at the July AD. After passing all other stages I moved on to the security check and medical and was told if I completed everything I would be offered at FT role and would attend ground school on 31/7. I completed everything only to discover that my security check had never been submitted to Aus check from Qantas. That was then fixed and I was told I would be in the August GS. Last week I get an email saying I never completed my medical (which I did back in July) spent all week following up about it to get it sorted out and of course missed out on the August GS. I spoke with Qantas today who has advised they have found everything and will be in touch should they have a position for me in the next allocation. This has just left me feeling very disheartening and wondering how many people slip through the cracks during this application process. Has anyone else had this happen to them or am I just bad luck?

Hey guys!
I just received a call offering a 6-9 month contract in October. I asked about possibility to extend and they said highly unlikely as there is nothing in the pipelines. I asked if I could remain on the list (as I am currently doing a working visa in Canada, I would move home if it was fulltime absolutely for my dream career) but she explained my application will expire. So I either take this small contract or start all over again - which obviously I don’t want to do as it has already been over a year. Has anyone else been offered these small contracts?

Qcca
Try to stay positive about the fixed term. Aviation is a constantly changing industry what is said now can always change later, if you really want it grab it! I have been offered a ground school in October also on the 17th xx

I do really want it, but I will be moving from Adelaide (Canada at the moment) and 6 months is a very short time to move interstate for. I believe it is not long enough to even sign a lease. I was hoping once my career started with Qantas to make the move interstate permanently, but as the contract is only 6 months there is not much point. Very unsure as what to do. Does anyone know if they are offering more perm positions?

The golden call will come after your medical has been submitted to Qantas. This could be anywhere from a week to 6/8 weeks.
All new crew are employed on the QCCA contract. You will go straight to Mainline regardless of which base you go to. I would suggest you will possibly get your first choice.
Good luck!!!
