Hmm... Kagezen, are you sure that in case you have to get the vaccinations in Doha, they pay for them?
I mean, in the medicals paper it's said that it is better to have the vaccinations done in our countries, as it is very expensive in Qatar.
And we will need them for sure when traveling to some countries such as, for example, Bangladesh (no shot, no entry)...

And, news for me... I recieved reply about my medicals. There is one test report missing, HBS Ag (Hepatitis B surface antigen). I did the ABC hepatitis tests complete, but this B antigen must appear detailed, and I didnt know
Seems that this is the test that certifies you are vaccinated so you have the antigen for not getting hepatitis B. And I am vaccinated.
Hope I don't need to repeat blood test... Will talk tomorrow to my doctor and see if I alredy have that report done.

or yeah.. i guess that we need to have our shots taken before.. thanks for the precision iceania.. good luck with the repeat on your test.. but how will we know which shots to take? i mean when you look at the vaccination "menu" (at the vaccination centre) there are loads!! do we need all of them? or just a few? anyone knows which vaccinations do we actually need? thanks

Hi there we were advised here to have the following vaccines:
1. flu vaccine
2. hepatitis A and B
3. typhoid
4. tetanus toxoid
5. meningococcal
6. chickenpox (if you haven't had chickenpox)

I think it is really best to have our vaccines before leaving for Doha as we will be dealing with different people. This is for our safety because we need to really take good care of ourselves.

Goodluck to everyone.

I was also like that before! Just to find out that they are gonna call us instead of sending email first. So might as well keep your mobile phone with you anywhere you go. Hang in there buddy. Goodluck and stay sane.

OMG!!! 6 months! that's a lot of waiting indeed. Congratulations! I don't get this. Some have to wait for a week or two to be cleared, some others wait months. I wonder if we'll ever going to figure out why.

On the other hand about the vaccination. I'm thinking about doing them because they said it's quite expensive there. Probably it would be a good thing to find out the exact costs so that you can compare prices because it may be different in different countries.

Good luck with the calls!!! Mine is glued to me

Hi guys,

I am also in agony about the Qatar waiting time. Im from Brazil but had my FI in Sydney Sep 12 and like a few of you I'm checking my mail box every 10 minutes.

I'm in a dilemma because last year I got Emirates and even my DOJ on May 6th, but like many I received the email saying that they regret to say they had to withdraw my application because of the recession. Now, last month they sent me another email asking if I was still interested and course I said YES, but haven't heard since.

My problem is that I've got a partner and I really really want to bring him along, but what the recruiters say about living in Doha sounds impossible to take him after a few months. In the contract specifically say that you can't even sleep out of their accommodation, not while on duty or even on your days off.
Man, so does that mean if my bf came to visit me I can not even stay in the hotel with him???
I know most of you probably doesn't have that problem, so please don't say anything negative about it. It is really hard when you've got a dream and also a wonderful person that you don't want to miss out on too.

So my question is, does anyone know if you can choose to have the allowance to live out like Emirates or not?
Does anyone have a partner or family and is in the bloody same situation as me?

I made my mind up about Emirates and Qatar, which is, whoever comes first I will take, cose I am one in thousands of people wanting this job and I really can't miss on it, so I will accept Qatar if they offer me the job before Emirates.

Real dilemma.

hey cavalli..

well, there is no ways for single girls to get a housing allowance while working for QR.. only guys can get aollwances.. i understand the need that you want your bf by your side and all. BUT, qatar airways and the qatari culture won't.. i mean you are going to work for them, so they expect you to live by their rules.. whether you like it or not.. and also the only solution there is for both of you living together.. is that he finds a job in qatar and both of you get married.. but as the recruiters would say.. "if he is really someone wonderful then he would wait.."

sorry to crush your hopes cavalli.. but i dont know anyways around your probs maybe some people who are actually there would know..

Sorry for all these questions, but it is just that i really want to know..

Gud luck Starbitee..Have a great journey ahead.

Hello kazegen

thank you they sent me a list of what to bring. regarding the attire, I think we can wear casual clothes to be comfortable since we are traveling with lots of things. I think they wont mind if you wear casual clothes.

Did they mention that we have to wear black&white at the training? (of course business) and only skirts for girls or pants are alowed also? And PLS, PLS, PLS tell me what did they say about the shoes. How high or how low can the heels be? I hope that what I already have will be just fine, 'cause it's so hard for me to find some really comfortable shoes.

Thanx!!!!!!!

Clothes&Shoes

Hi Guys, congrats to all of you that are leaving soon!

Hostess - about what to wear when travelling to Doha: smart casual attire. That means u don't need to wear a suit but avoid jeans.

Bluesky - girls can wear pants during the training but not jeans. About the shoes, I heard about 2,5cm minimum.

BTW, I found a QA cabin crew blog, since I can't post the URL here, I'm sending a PM to you guys. If some one else want it too, just send me a PM.

Cheers and good luck for those who are waiting (just like me)
