Is that an A26 getting ready to line up, Turbo Porter following ?

Asturias56 7th Jan 2021 17:50

Bear - I meant warmer as in closer - Gelibolu was the closest guess to date..

Back to the challenge - are we in the Netherlands?

kcockayne 7th Jan 2021 18:48

A wild guess ...... Texel ?

Good one SLB.

EHOW, Oostwold

The picture is a bit older though. It was a lot busier during the last edition of the air show.

Archer has it with Oostwold.
Close to the Veenkoloniën (Peat colonies)
These were the areas that the City Groningen owned and where the peat came from for use as burning/heating.
Later in the Veenkoloniën some “re-education camps” were build where many paupers, poor and homeless from the large cities in the West were re-educated.

It was indeed an A26 visiting the airshow.
Perhaps Archer can share some pictures of the last airshow?

I have a few. Unfortunately not from the air. I was too busy flying my plane to make nice overview shots.
But it does give some overview of how busy it was.

Including the Fokker four display team.

Sir, please sir,
Any extra points for identifying the Stansted-bound 747 in the background?

Archer4 9th Jan 2021 16:18

Can't answer until 24 hours have passed :)

chevvron 9th Jan 2021 16:40

Charles Church's strip at Roundwood Farm.

If it is Duxford then he’s a bit low to be inbound to Stansted. Maybe inbound to Cambridge?

Archer4 10th Jan 2021 14:18

Flap40 has it with Duxford. And extra points for answering within a minute. I expected it to be fast. But not that fast.

The view is to the South East. Could be Stansted yes.

Flap40 10th Jan 2021 14:50

Many thanks. The fields are more recognisable than the airfield.

Try this for size.....

It might be that Brighton City Airport
(Shoreham) has similar scrubs to the west of the runway.

Asturias56 10th Jan 2021 16:46

Thats N766AM at Shoreham I think - linked to various dodgy UK financiers IIRC

Flap40 10th Jan 2021 16:47

It is not Shoreham but I know why you thought it was.

If an Australian posed a challenge for "Name that Aerodrome", and a New Zealander answered with the correct name within a minute, the Australian would have to wait 24 hours to give the solution. After, say, 22 hours, a Frenchman (just an example) also gives the correct answer to the same challenge, then who would win?

The NZ of course
(unless the answer of the French would be more detailed as may be required and up to decision by the Australian)

Shackman 11th Jan 2021 12:41

Could it be Ascot HLS?
