lets go mad - somewhere in Germany around 1945? Is it still in use? (not the sign I ope...)

Auxtank 29th Feb 2020 11:20

Did something rather unpleasant happen there in 1972 too?

nvubu 29th Feb 2020 12:11

It isn't in Germany - these images are from before 1945, and it is still in use.

I can't find any information that something unpleasant happened here in 1972.

No, I was thinking Fürstenfeldbruck - which is in Germany.

Then we are in France?

Archer4 29th Feb 2020 13:38

nvubu 29th Feb 2020 17:09

Overheads are coming next.

dook 29th Feb 2020 17:19

Might it be Villacoublay ?

Auxtank 29th Feb 2020 17:42

I'm going to shoot in the dark and based on dates nvubu punt;

Maupertus-sur-Mer Airfield, 1943, B-17 strike aftermath.

nvubu 29th Feb 2020 17:49

dook has it, Villacoublay it is.

Edit I was Getty close
but no place mentioned.
Bombing must have been 1943
as this photo is dated 1 January 1944

5 Points to anyone who identifies the engines in Bear's photo and the first one in nvubu's post #18525 in the trashed hangar (believe same location - different angle)...

Yes, good Bear, certainly that variant with the rad fitted in the cowl like that. Powered up those pesky JU-88's.
