KP - not Japan but there is a connection.
ea - yes. |
South Pacific ? Initial thought was Midway, but looks like old Japanese runways overlaid by US, so ....
|
Do tell us more...…...:)
|
Marpi Point - Northern end of Saipan.
OH if correct (nothing available at moment) I'll let dook tell you more of the cliffs at the top of the photo. |
Best to read it quietly......
|
Known as the suicide cliffs because during the battle for Saipan, 800 Japanese troops committed suicide there.
Shackman gets the top banana with Marpi Point and has declared OH. |
Thanks Dook & Shackman!
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....b2f7963323.jpg Just a little bit of fun, this one. Shan't last long, I don't think... |
...………...
|
Haha Well, there are three clues in there, Mr. d. Two of them very large! :)
|
Yes - I have nb'd all three. That's the easy bit.
I would say Europe. |
You would be correct!
|
And it is very reminiscent of an airfield I knew in Germany.
|
The airfield hasn't been part of Germany for quite a while, I'm afraid. Long before your time, I'm sure, dook. :)
|
If you're talking about German administration it might point to Luxembourg.
|
Yep, 'tis Luxembourg. I'll give you it as there's obviously only one airfield in that country that has EasyJet service :)
The cooling towers on the horizon, on the other hand, are in France. Luxembourg was not only occupied by the Nazis during WWII but was actually annexed, like Austria, into the German Reich. The bit of France the cooling towers are in, is Lorraine which (I think) was also part of Germany at one time, although maybe a different time to the one in which Luxembourg was. |
Thank you jensdad.
The cooling towers didn't help but your last clue did, and even then I wasn't sure. It might have been Holland. http://i68.tinypic.com/dzf393.jpg |
This one I know - NAS Philadelphia in the USA?
|
Nicely done magruder - the US Naval Aircraft Factory.
New balls please. |
Try this - a bit harder than my first one I think..... I'm off out until about 16:00 London time
