and I was talking about that pond not the Pond. I measured in Google earth and from the top it is about 100m to the eind of the pond. Otto managed to glide about 250 m from that 15 m hill so he would have kept his feet dry and have landed outside the park boundaries of today in any direction. Quite good glide rate, but he could always choose head wind from his hill... SLB |
Gentlemen,
I am withdrawing the challenge. The site from which I took the image appears to have made a mistake with location. Apologies and therefore OPEN HOUSE. |
Do I see a Wright Model R ?
The scene appears authentic, but I consider the date this morning may have some relevance.
That's exactly what I concluded last night.
If so, then the thread has died and there's nothing further to do, and the OP hasn't come back. |
The photo dates from 1910. Google 'Paul Engelhard'.
You certainly fooled us with that one - excellent.
St. Moritz probably, although strictly speaking it's not an aerodrome. |
Well done that man! Over to you.
Presumably not USA with the "01" runway designator: but are you W of the Atlantic?
(Everyone asleep? Brexit fatigue?) |
Correct in that it is not the USA.
We are west of the anti-meridian. |
I have looked at the non-US locations of surviving Connies and have not found one to match the photo, so I am guessing the aircraft no longer exists.
Latin America, perhaps? |
Orzstralia...??
Yes cobber.
I can give you an overhead GE image if you wish. |
Olympic Torch aircraft at Darwin, 1956, en-route to Melbourne?
Not Northern Territory.
In which case, Essendon itself?
Now you have gone too far SE.
dook, I think we need another clue. I have searched all the Wiki listed aviation museums, and Oz in a broad swathe from Darwin to Melbourne, without finding the target. Which State are you in?
