Not Chu Lai. Tam Ky is still the closest suggestion so far.

Measuring the runway on GE, Chu Lai is currently longer than the runway at the challenge - although I think the challenge has been extended a fair bit since these images.

dook 10th Apr 2019 08:44

Qui Nhon ?

lauriebe 10th Apr 2019 08:47

Phu Bai perhaps?

OH if correct.

nvubu 10th Apr 2019 09:32

And dook has done it again, all the hard work, to be pipped at the post. :)

lauriebe hits the nail on the head, Phu Bai it is - here's an earlier image

Open House has been declared.

:ugh::ugh:

dook 10th Apr 2019 11:35

I don't see any non-regulars around except nvubu...

dook 10th Apr 2019 14:38

Kelly Field?

dook 10th Apr 2019 18:23

I can see why you suggest that, but we're not in Texas.

The challenge no longer exists as an airfield.

nvubu 10th Apr 2019 18:28

I'm sure it is one of the flight training fields set up by the US Air Service in 1917. The tower is a fairly common feature.

dook 10th Apr 2019 19:03

Correct on all counts.

JENKINS 10th Apr 2019 20:54

Not Texas, so perhaps Payne Field?

dook 10th Apr 2019 21:21

Not Mississippi.

nvubu 10th Apr 2019 22:34

Could be Taylor Field (Alabama)

dook 11th Apr 2019 08:01

Not Alabama either I'm afraid.

JENKINS 11th Apr 2019 11:54

So let us try Florida, Carlstrom Field?

dook 11th Apr 2019 12:00

Let us try Carlstrom Field indeed.

Please take the stage.

JENKINS 11th Apr 2019 12:02

Thanks, a Chivenor equivalent perhaps?

OH for the time being.

nvubu 11th Apr 2019 12:10

dook - if you haven't seen it, here 's a fantastic picture of Kelly Field from my challenge in Dec 2016, and if you click this link, you will get a larger (huge) image

Thank you nvubu.

Can you fill the OH ?
