Indeed it was. HMS Vengeance, HMNLS Karel Doorman, and final existence as ARA Veintecinco de Mayo all pointing to a Naval Air Station, and HMS Peewit being the name of the bird as well as the Shore Establishment. In The Netherlands at this time of year, apparently, Peewit eggs are legally sought but not damaged.
WIWOL territory close to Leuchars and Barry Budden, with Jaguar territory not too far. You have control. |
It certainly was Jaguar country. I left one underground 17 miles NW of there in 1981.
|
Clearly crossed with Dook’s post. I would never have picked up the link with HMS Peewit And the Karel was previously named Venerable. Peewit eggs, yes nowadays still sought but then marked with flags to protect the nests from agricultural maching. This year record breaking early in February. RAAF? I still miss the link with the Veinticinco de Mayo |

Sorry - old pax got in first so I'll withdraw the one I just posted (although I can't actually see oldpax's one).

Bruntingthorpe?
|
It's 2300 local time in Thailand so I think we might have to wait for oldpax to return.
However, I feel that kenparry is correct. |
Are you there, oldpax?
If not Brunty, then St Mawgan (or Newquay Airport if you prefer) |
I think it's K4 ZD241 which ended up at Bruntingthorpe.
|
I think it is XR807 and I believe the correct answer is not yet given. |

SLB,
If you believe that the correct answer has not yet been given, what's your guess ? |
Dare I consider Kemble, now known as Cotswold?
|
Dare I consider Dunsfold?
