All around my shopping trip today I realised that Eastchurch really meant Brough, too late. So this, long weekend here on an advertising film shoot, I think it was Vauxhall cars. Moor available when required.https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....c64050c58b.jpg

"Moor available" eh.

Another of your cryptic clues ?

Swimming pools and looks dry, so not UK.

JENKINS 10th Jan 2019 15:11

Yes and yes.

Another place that's built a runway extension and then painted 'X's all over it :)
Haven't a clue where it is though... Could it be on the same continent as Hobart?

dook 10th Jan 2019 15:35

Or is the extension to increase TODA.

Displaced threshold meaning 'you 'a no land on 'a this bit' but the X would indicate not available for takeoff either.

On a minor point of order, you don't necessarily need pavement to extend a TODA. But if you don't have it, max take-off weight (mass if you must) might be limited by the take-off run (TORA) instead. But extending the TORA doesn't of itself extend the TODA.

Oh God, sorry, I just can't help it, it's an affliction........

dook 10th Jan 2019 16:14

Have you read Peter Swatton's book on aircraft performance ? I did all the illustrations for him.

JENKINS 10th Jan 2019 16:15

No to the Four X Continent, tipping my cap to Terry Pratchett. The machine I flew that weekend had little truck with TORA, TODA, and so on. A former Caliphate, cotton groves, skydiving.

dook 10th Jan 2019 16:50

Spain perhaps, apart from the cotton.

USA more likely.

JENKINS 10th Jan 2019 16:59

It certainly looked like cotton. No to USA.

dook 10th Jan 2019 17:11

Cordoba San Jeronimo ?

Leba…...

JENKINS 10th Jan 2019 17:31

That's it. Long weekend from my 'day job.' While there my wife had our new car wrecked while taking daughter back to school. All OK, and even newer car resulted from the insurance of the other driver. Cordoba very pleasant. All yours dook. Was Swatton a former RAF back-seater?

dook 10th Jan 2019 17:43

Peter was a navigator on several types and apart from a tour at 1 AIDU he was the senior navigation tutor at ETPS, teaching Performance

We still meet every Friday lunchtime for a beer or lunch since he only lives eight miles away.

Standby for the next challenge.

Hooton Park, those were the days I am told.

dook 10th Jan 2019 19:39

Yes - I think they must have been an absolute hoot.

Lights - curtain - music...……and JENKINS enters stage left.

dook 10th Jan 2019 19:41

And BTW, Peter Swatton and I taught ATPL subjects and shared an office for fifteen years. We were also both consultants to the CAA on the central question bank.

JENKINS 10th Jan 2019 19:43

Thanks. I was lucky enough to enjoy days of relative freedom, and weekend aircraft, at a secret airfield 8n Pembrokeshire. Shall we say OH for now, I have something with a story for tomorrow morning, British time, should there be nowt else.
