MJG is 30 km almost north of Pasir Mas. That is however not a military base. But used to be 8 brigade Army camp? |
Good first step - military base. Still is but also has other aviation uses these days. .Look to the west coast for a military aviation connection and then go south for the name connection.

MJG I am on vacation. |
Alor Star or Butterworth....?
|
Butterworth is the military aviation connection, now for the name... look south and a little east let's call it the "new south".
MJG |
Possibly 3..Sitiawan...private.;Taiping,where that `Aerocar crashed a few years ago...unlikley..which leaves Ipoh....OH if correct
|
The name and aircraft connection are in Malaysia but the airport is not. You may need a Bahasa Melayu/English dictionary.
Lapangan Terbang Sultan Ismail Petra is to Kota Bharu as wwwwwwwwwww is to nnnnnnnnn. |
Lapangan Terbang AirPort
Kota Baru New city airport W+10 characters City N+8 characters RAAF Williamstown in Newcastle Australia fits the bill. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....da46d74c7.jpeg |
Good vacation work SLB, Billsville it is. Some of those old buildings are still there but plenty of development in recent years.
Over to you. MJG |
Thanks MJG,
If you would have stated more clearly that the name of Lapangan contained the full textual clue, it would have been more straightforward. Eventually found by your reference of “new south” (wales) Now this One will have to determine the aircraft first. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....dec92a105.jpeg |

What I can find on Deperdussin is that his first creations where produced just after the aircraft shown. We are looking for a country first achievement. |

It was in 1909

The last photo looks like the Harry Ferguson memorial in N.I., but it's obviously not the monoplane in the earlier photo...?

However they both relate to the same occasion: the first flight in Ireland by Harry Ferguson. Location Hillsburough Park outside Belfast. The memorial is on the crossing at Hillsburough Park of the A1. Max Tow you have the con. |

You are right about the differences between the planes on the photo and the memorial.

Thanks - wasn't sure I'd actually identified an aerodrome for your challenge! OH pls.
But when an airplane has landed and took off from a location it can be a challenge here. Nvubu also Posted some ww2 glider landing areas as a challenge here. OH called. |

Manston, Kent?

I think it's the wrong type of hangar for Manston anyway; maybe White Waltham? |
Some form of 'Downs' in background? Untidy parking, University Air Squadron Camp?
|
The 'downs' in the background could be the high ground south of Duxford, but once again the hangar is wrong.
There used to be a singular hangar of this type on the south side of WW near the ATA HQ which later became ULAS and 6 AEF. |
Agree with all Chev., lovely to see 'Downs'' described as 'Ups.' I live in the midst of such country.
|
Sorry chaps, I had forgotten I had posted, until gently reminded by nvubu. Real-life flying got in the way.
Not Manston or WW. If those are UAS aircraft, they would have probably come by ship! :) No “downs” here, but “downunder” applies. |

Not WA, go east young man!

Sorry but it's out of my area of operations; I'm limited to that part of the globe between a line drawn N/S through Mauritius westwards to a line drawn from San Francisco through LA through Cancun to Rio de Janiero.

This should narrow it down, but the answer is still not obvious.

Mount Fujiyama?

All my Japanese friends think it is Fujiyama, but it's a look-alike. :)

Stratford New Zealand ??

The early creation of New Plymouth, Bell Block Aerodrome?
|
JENKINS rings the bell!
Bell Block - New Plymouth’s original aérodrome which was replaced by the current airfield in 1966. Now completely built over but commemorated by road names like Mustang Drive, Hudson Road and De Havilland Drive. The volcano is Mt. Taranaki, which has been used as a stand-in for Fuji in movies. |
Bell Block
Thanks. Sister married into New Plymouth family 45 years ago, but in common I gather for many in Taranaki, the entire family has scarpered. Shame, I liked it.
Now so long since I posted a photo, cannot find how to do it albeit having one available. Please excuse Open House while I endeavour to find the correct prompts. |

Waserkuppe?
|
No, but your answer gave me some interesting reading. The field came to my attention while watching television last week.
