Where they hold the RSA Rallye

Heathrow Harry 22nd Feb 2017 15:13

Jensdad is on the right lines.

I wouldn't have said it was the middle of nowhere but I was surprised to find out it serves 13 destinations...........

better photo..

Hmmm... I'm going to go for another French airfield much beloved by the Flybes and Ryanairs of this world. Poitiers?

Heathrow Harry 23rd Feb 2017 07:01

Right Country, wrong airport

DaveReidUK 24th Feb 2017 07:32

Is that part of the same clue, or a new airport ?

Heathrow Harry 24th Feb 2017 07:50

Sorry! Same airport - you can (just ) see the tower on the right over the rather large bump in teh middle of the field.....

and it's NOT near the seaside

ea200 24th Feb 2017 08:42

Looks like Limoges?

IcePack 24th Feb 2017 08:43

Aéroport International de Limoges

Sorry crossed ea200

Flap40 24th Feb 2017 08:45

I suspect that there might be a porcelain factory nearby?

Also crossed!

I recognised the runway but not the buildings.

Heathrow Harry 24th Feb 2017 11:50

Limoges it is - the runway bump is a bit of a give-waay I thought........

ea200 has the con by a minute lead over Icepak

ea200 24th Feb 2017 15:13

Only just made it! Try this one. It also has a bump in it.

Heathrow Harry 24th Feb 2017 16:55

Looks like the C Valley in Scotland.............................

ea200 25th Feb 2017 11:40

Not Scotland. JENKINS has it, EDFV Worms. Suffered mild embarrassment there some time in the 80's when I took an Aztec in there. Went past the clubhouse braking heavily only to find another 300 odd metres the other side of the bump.

sycamore 25th Feb 2017 20:58

Don`t forget the Leconfield `motorway` Jenks..

ea200 25th Feb 2017 23:57

JENKINS, sorry the red roof tops got me to EDF, thought you had it although the * puzzled me. Open house I think.

Heathrow Harry 26th Feb 2017 08:10

OK try try again......

jensdad 26th Feb 2017 20:40

Asturias? Flew into that airport (as a passenger, not a pilot!) from the other end. Nice approach over the sea.

Heathrow Harry 27th Feb 2017 02:04

Thought it wouldn't last long!!! 12hrs 30 minutes....

Over to Jensdad

jensdad 27th Feb 2017 16:13

Yep, thought it looked familiar with the angle of the coastline to the runway, the drop at the East end of the runway and the woods opposite the terminal. We got a fantastic view of the Picos de Europa mountains on the downwind leg but then didn't see them again for a week as the weather was terrible!

I have nothing sufficiently tricky, so it's Open House!

Kewbick 27th Feb 2017 18:42

Okay, here is a challenge:

The late XV105 27th Feb 2017 19:56

RAF Milltown (Moray)?

Edited to add: Open house if correct. Off to put the kids to bed!

Kewbick 28th Feb 2017 18:46

RAF Milltown aka RNAS Fulmar II is correct.

nvubu 28th Feb 2017 21:20

As it's Open House, here's one from me - click the image for a more detailed picture

India Four Two 28th Feb 2017 22:26

nvubu 28th Feb 2017 22:52

broadreach 28th Feb 2017 22:57

And isn't the dump truck a US built one?

nvubu 28th Feb 2017 23:00

I don't know, but quite possibly as a lot of things were back then.

oldpax 1st Mar 2017 00:24

nvubu 1st Mar 2017 06:45

chevvron 1st Mar 2017 07:24

nvubu 1st Mar 2017 08:09

Not in Malta either.

There are a large number of different varieties in shot aren't there.

India Four Two 1st Mar 2017 09:16

Somewhere in Germany?

sidtheesexist 1st Mar 2017 09:19

Bone (known today as Rabah Bitat)? I'm guessing North Africa, post/during Torch....

India Four Two 1st Mar 2017 09:23

sid might be on to something there. I think that's a Hurricane IID on the right.

nvubu 1st Mar 2017 09:39

Now we are getting somewhere :ok:

It isn't Bone, but North Africa is correct.
