Where they hold the RSA Rallye
Jensdad is on the right lines.
I wouldn't have said it was the middle of nowhere but I was surprised to find out it serves 13 destinations........... better photo.. http://www.pprune.org/members/326184...574-130149.jpg |
Hmmm... I'm going to go for another French airfield much beloved by the Flybes and Ryanairs of this world. Poitiers?
Right Country, wrong airport
Is that part of the same clue, or a new airport ?
Sorry! Same airport - you can (just ) see the tower on the right over the rather large bump in teh middle of the field.....
and it's NOT near the seaside |
Looks like Limoges?
Aéroport International de Limoges
Sorry crossed ea200 |
I suspect that there might be a porcelain factory nearby?
Also crossed! I recognised the runway but not the buildings. |
Limoges it is - the runway bump is a bit of a give-waay I thought........
ea200 has the con by a minute lead over Icepak |
Only just made it! Try this one. It also has a bump in it.

Looks like the C Valley in Scotland.............................
Not Scotland. JENKINS has it, EDFV Worms. Suffered mild embarrassment there some time in the 80's when I took an Aztec in there. Went past the clubhouse braking heavily only to find another 300 odd metres the other side of the bump.
Don`t forget the Leconfield `motorway` Jenks..
JENKINS, sorry the red roof tops got me to EDF, thought you had it although the * puzzled me. Open house I think.
Asturias? Flew into that airport (as a passenger, not a pilot!) from the other end. Nice approach over the sea.
Thought it wouldn't last long!!! 12hrs 30 minutes....
Over to Jensdad |
Yep, thought it looked familiar with the angle of the coastline to the runway, the drop at the East end of the runway and the woods opposite the terminal. We got a fantastic view of the Picos de Europa mountains on the downwind leg but then didn't see them again for a week as the weather was terrible!
I have nothing sufficiently tricky, so it's Open House! |
Okay, here is a challenge:

RAF Milltown (Moray)?
Edited to add: Open house if correct. Off to put the kids to bed! |
RAF Milltown aka RNAS Fulmar II is correct.
As it's Open House, here's one from me - click the image for a more detailed picture

It's not Middle Wallop
Not in the U.K.?
Correct, it isn't in the UK
And isn't the dump truck a US built one?
I don't know, but quite possibly as a lot of things were back then.
Rotterdam .
It isn't in the Netherlands.

And is that a P-39 in the background ?
Not in Malta either.
There are a large number of different varieties in shot aren't there. |
Somewhere in Germany?
Bone (known today as Rabah Bitat)? I'm guessing North Africa, post/during Torch....
sid might be on to something there. I think that's a Hurricane IID on the right.
Now we are getting somewhere :ok:
It isn't Bone, but North Africa is correct. |
