Asheville (AVL) Airport Terminal,Ashville,North Carolina,U.S.A?
|
Yes, it is in the USA, but very roughly half a continent west of North Carolina. I can't pick out this old terminal in the present Gxxgle Earth image of this aerodrome.
Edited at 14:50 to add: This picture was taken from the window of the United Airlines 737 which I rode from KDCA with intermediate stops at KMDW and Kxxx. Through-plane service is no longer available between this airport and KDCA/KIAD/KBWI. |
Big Hint:
This airport serves the capital of the state. |
Could this be PIR Pierre Municipal, South Dakota. Sometimes known as Pierre Regional and due to have its new terminal open on 1 September.

No, it isn't Pierre. You are too far north.
In the early 70s Northwest had a flight which started in Seattle and stopped at Spokane, Bozeman, Billings, Helena, Pierre, Milwaukee and finally on to KDCA ... all in a 727. Took all day (west to east). There were three stops in Montana, but I may have the Montana cities and their order wrong. I was a pax from Montana to KDCA. The Pierre terminal looked pre-WW2 in the 70s. |
Lincoln, Nebraska ?
I'll change that to Des Moines, Iowa. |
Mr evansb ... you ought to leave it as Lincoln KLNK.
My flight was KDCA. KMDW. KOMA, KLNK. Omaha to Lincoln isn't very far and it seemed that we flew at about the height of the tall TV towers. I'll credit evansb with the win. I'll be away from my computer for a number of hours starting now. I was about to declare Open House, but evansb came just in time. |
Okay, thanks. Sorry, I have to declare OPEN HOUSE
I'll be back around 2130Z. |
Here is the next mystery aerodrome:

Kenora Air Beech-18 |
Spot on Terrence:ok: Kenora Water Aerodrome, location identifier CJM9, is an airport of entry, as it is served by Canada Customs Officers. Your turn.

The next challenge; http://i1089.photobucket.com/albums/...33/Quiz150.jpg |
At a guess, CFE West Raynham;Anson,Hurricane,poss.Chipmunk,Meteor T7 and F8..
|
Not R.A.F. West Raynham.
|
Early style 'C' type hangars like that are at Abingdon.
|
RAF Binbrook?
|
Neither R.A.F. Abingdon nor R.A.F.Binbrook.
I believe the hangar to be a Type A, which should provide a good clue. |
Martlesham Heath.
Ciarain. |
